I'm having a hard time in understanding xampp. I will need to change my database from ms access to xampp. I already test it in a sample program and it works! Now I want to convert my whole system so my first step is to delete the database in my system (ms access) then create a code that will connect my system to xampp, I'm done with those things. The BIG problems are I'm having 98 ERRORS and I cant figure it out. I dont know the equivalent code to xampp. Here's the code that has error. Note that it is just one of 98 errors in my system.
Me.TableAdapterManager1.UpdateOrder = FinalSystem.FinalDatabaseDataSetTableAdapters.TableAdapterManager.UpdateOrderOption.InsertUpdateDelete
xampp doesnt have any tableadapater, but what should I do to insertupdatedelete?
I would like to know if there a way to Compact and Repair an Access 2007 Database Programmatically Using VB 2010?
View 2 RepliesI have names of all labels in a table of an Access database (one field is a form name- it can be repeated, the second field is a label name - it must be unique for the same form, the third field is a text of this label). E.g. the first record has field1="Form1", field2="Label1", field3="Smith" My question: How can I refer to a label programmatically using the Access database? E.g. Form1.Label1.Text= "Smith" In C languge there was the opportunity "remove the quotation marks" from the text ("Label1") and get the literal (Label1). Is this opportunity in VB.NET?

[code] info: using access 2003 (.mdb) the Date of Birth field has been set into Date/Time.
View 2 RepliesI need to make an application that from a master database creates a number of access database files (tables of a larger db), then these are manually given to users who fill in data, the database files are emailed back to a user who, through the application, combines them again. The only part of this that I am unsure about is problematically creating the access db's. I have read that through Microsoft Jet OLE DB Provider and Microsoft ADO Ext I can create them (the tables and data), but I also need forms.
View 1 RepliesI completed an application and got it to the point where it works fine. I had it setup on a local Access database and now I want to figure out how to connect it to a SQL server 2008 database. I got it setup to a point where the database is connected to app but not sure how to convert it.[code]

I have been developing a VB 2008 application which has been using Access as its database. The app is very far a long with about 30 forms and 45 DataSets I now must change the application to use SQLServer. Unfortunately all of the Table & Attributes names have changed in the new DB. Almost all of the data model has stay the same.
I have a few questions on the conversion.
The ConnectionString is currently pointing to the Access DB. I have entered the new ConnectionString into the Setting tab. What is the best approach to make the change?
I have done some testing to change the Table & Attributes names by using Quick Replace. It seams that sometime when I would do the rename I would lose the TableAdepter on some screens.
What is the best approach to performing the renaming task?
I am looking for a way to convert Access 2003 Forms to VB .NET (2010) forms. I don't care about the code, I can redo that no problem, but the forms have a lot of objects in them and I don't want to recreate them all. Any ideas? Preferably free??

I am trying to convert a C#/XNA project to a VB.Net project with access to the XNA framework. I have added all of the XNA framework as references in the VB project and imported them as well. Most of the code translation is going well but I am getting mixed up with some graphics issues and some event handling issues (neither of which do I understand in any languague). I have tried to puzzle it out but am digging myself a deeper hole with each attempt.I am ok with converting the variable declarations and the first three lines of the Game1 Sub. It is when we get to "graphics. preparedevicesettings . . . " that the trouble starts.

View 2 RepliesI have developed a small ms-access based software with vb.net.
I've added auto-update capabilities to the software (mostly by using clickonce) to simplify the release of new features.
Every version of the software executes the update routine which may update also the existing database.Lately i've made few changes on the database structure adding few stored queries, so i want the autoupdate code to programmatically add these new queries to the existing database and make it perfectly up to date.
I haven't already found a solution to add stored queries to an ms-access database using odbc...I also tried to use the "CREATE PROC" sql statement but it does not seem to work with access databases, even if i create the query form the Microsoft Office Access front-end.I've found some examples that uses ADODB, but i'm using odbc to remain both x86 and x64 compliant.
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset
View 1 RepliesI am trying to import data from an access database to a access database that my project uses I am having problems with combo box fields in the database with the data. I want to import what is displayed instead of the numerical key value. Example: The combo box displays employee names but the value stored is the key value from the employee table so instead of importing John Doe it imports 2 is there a way to make the actual name instead of the number?

View 6 Repliesi'm searching for information on how to programmatically create a database. i want to manage some data and the windows forms application i wish to built will provide users to create, open, manage & delete databases with small amount of data presented into a datagridview.as an example, if, in VS, you click Project and Add new item, it's possible to choose Local database and cancel the wizard, than manually create and edit a table.is there a way to do something similar with some code?i've checked msdn but cannot find anything on this.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to convert a VB5 program to VB2010 so that I can continue to support it on my new PC. My copy of VB5 was an upgrade from VB3 which was an upgrade from VB2 which came on floppies, so I can't just install every preceding version as my new PC doesn't have a floppy drive.I have accepted that I will have to design all the forms from scratch (whatever happened to twips?) and will have to go through the thousands of lines of code line-by-line, but I have hit a brick wall when it comes to random access files. One such file is defined in the Declarations section of Module1 thus:[code]....
I soon found I had to change Type to Structure, but then in the declaration of transrec, transtype acquired a wavy blue underline with the error message: "'transrec' cannot expose type 'transtype' in namespace 'Treasurer_2010' through module 'Module1'.So if I can't use the structure in the module in which it is declared, where can I use it?
My website connects to a Microsoft Access DB at the moment, im about to upload it to the internet - its a VB.NET web application but i'm advised to convert it to MySQL or MSSQL for better performance. How would you recommend I export the DB ? there isn't too much data in at the moment so mainly all of the tables and fields.
View 2 RepliesI have just started using databases, but I am totally stuck. I made a database and table using MS Access. The table has three columns. ID, Code, and Letter. Basically, the Code column stores a number for each letter (eg. 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C, etc.)
Table:
|ID|Code|Letter|
| 2| 1| A|
| 3| 2| B|
| 4| 3| C|
etc.
This table is just for reference for my program, and I don't need to change any values. But I need a step by step guide to link this table to VB 2010 and convert the values of the table to an array. For example: convert the table into the array "example" which means that example(1) = A, example(2) = B, example(3) = C and so on.
i have create a software for my college which is document management. well am doing good so far up to now where i need to upgrade my database what i mean ?
in case i need to make any changes to my database i don't want to enter the database and create new table or add new fields to existing table to my current database,i would like to do that throught visual studio 2010 programaticaly. something like an additional application where i will choose my database path and the application will upgrade the database with new tables or new fields .
i would like also to ask, in order to create database,or if you already have the database and you like to just open the connection to it programaticaly and add new field ,or relate some table ,you have to work with different librarys? Like ADOX,DAO etc ? and other.?
Still experimenting with datagrids and ran into another problem...I'd like to sort a column displayed in a datagrid bound to an Access table programmatically. The field is a date ime type and is sorted in descending order in Access. I can manually sort it at run time but i'd like to know how to sort it with code.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to move from the old ADO to the new ADO .NET . However , no matter how many tutorials I read over the internet , I still can't find a way to do something which , as I believe , has to be very simple I tried to mimic the way the graphic control did but I am missing some things ... I noticed that , in the graphic way , the wizard created 4 controls :- a DataGridView control- a DataSet control- a BindingSource control- a TableAdapter controlI recreated all of them and filled their correspondent properties , but yet I can't make it work . I think what I am missing is the connection itself . I looked on the internet and I think a connection can be made and opened like this :
Dim DataBaseConnectionMY As New OleDb.OleDbConnection
DataBaseConnectionMY.ConnectionString = "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = C:ProsoData.mdb"
