VS 2010 - Literal - How To Refer To A Label Programmatically Using Access Database
Mar 9, 2012
I have names of all labels in a table of an Access database (one field is a form name- it can be repeated, the second field is a label name - it must be unique for the same form, the third field is a text of this label). E.g. the first record has field1="Form1", field2="Label1", field3="Smith" My question: How can I refer to a label programmatically using the Access database? E.g. Form1.Label1.Text= "Smith" In C languge there was the opportunity "remove the quotation marks" from the text ("Label1") and get the literal (Label1). Is this opportunity in VB.NET?
I am writing a program for a class and it needs to read/write to an Access 2007 database. Right now I am referring to it's absolute path when I use it in connection strings, something like:
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:UsersMeDocumentsVisual StudioProjectsProject1Database.accdb")
This is going to be a problem when I turn it in obviously, because the professor isn't going to have the same path. So I want to somehow include it into my project and then refer to it with a relative path or something so that it will work on his machine. When I imported it through the Data Sources it had an option at the end to copy the database into the project which I agreed to. It put the Database where all of the source files are on my computer, so I tried using Application.StartupPath(
This was explained in a recent thread - but I can't find it again :-( Why won't the following work? I am trying to set the bounds on 9 buttons - Button11 to Button19. All these buttons are already added in design time. qli() is a rectangle array.
If I have 10 textboxs whos design names are textbox1 through textbox10 and I want to refer to them programatically how do I do this? (calling to ToLower in this example) I normally google my question(s) but this is a hard one to google.
For i as Integer = 1 to 10 'textbox code here.ToLower Next
I have the code I am using below. On 3.5 framework Access 2003 database vb net 2008
I already have the database created but need to be able to add Tables and fields with the correct datatypes. So far it's not working but i don't know why or where the error is.
Private Sub MDIParent_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Try
i have create a software for my college which is document management. well am doing good so far up to now where i need to upgrade my database what i mean ?
in case i need to make any changes to my database i don't want to enter the database and create new table or add new fields to existing table to my current database,i would like to do that throught visual studio 2010 programaticaly. something like an additional application where i will choose my database path and the application will upgrade the database with new tables or new fields .
i would like also to ask, in order to create database,or if you already have the database and you like to just open the connection to it programaticaly and add new field ,or relate some table ,you have to work with different librarys? Like ADOX,DAO etc ? and other.?
I'm using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition, so I have a combobox that gets filled with items from a data base made with Microsoft Acces, the combobox is filled with the values stored in a column from a table in de database so the user can select an "option" from it, I want to add labels that show the values for the corresponding row of that column. I used the Data Source panel to drag and drop the labels corresponding to the values that I want and it works it show the value that I want when I compile the application (at least I think it does, it could be that it's only selecting the first entry) the problem is that when I select a diferent entry on the combobox the labels don't refresh with the new values. How can I do that?
edit
how does Visual Basic Populates de combobox and gets the value of the other Acces DB entrys to change the .text value of the labels? And I mean the actual code that does that.
how to show error msg in literal if no record found in database according to the text entered in textbox1 and textbox2 else if show record in gridview if the text entered in textbox1 and textbox2 will be found in database ...
I am trying to import data from an access database to a access database that my project uses I am having problems with combo box fields in the database with the data. I want to import what is displayed instead of the numerical key value. Example: The combo box displays employee names but the value stored is the key value from the employee table so instead of importing John Doe it imports 2 is there a way to make the actual name instead of the number?
I want to refer to a data cell, which if it is equals to some string, it will do something. The codes: If ds.Tables(0).Rows(i)("Status") = "Reserved" Then MessageBox.Show("Can't reserve") End If Is this the correct way to do this? Because I failed doing so..
I have a VB app and it has a login feature installed. Now when someone logs in into the app I want the users First Name and Last Name to be displayed on my second form where the user gets redirected on a sucesfull login. I don't know how to accomplish this as I am quite new to VB. I have provided my login code below (btw it uses an online database):
MySqlConnection = New MySqlConnection MySqlConnection.ConnectionString = "server=;Port=; user id=; password=; database=" MySqlConnection.Open()
[Code].....
I think the code which provides the first name and last name need to check the users username which was provided on the first form and search through the DB. Then when it has found the record it should recieve the First Name and Last name.
how to move a label down (such as the lines on a road). Also, once it gets to the bottom, it will reset to the top. I'm going to speed it up at higher speed, and slow it down at lower speeds. I just need to know how to move a label when the timer ticks. Here's what I have so far:
Public Class Form1 Dim speed As Integer Private Sub Button1_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
I am using visual studio 2008, using VB.NET.I have a number of labels that I want to rename programmatically. The current names for the labels take the form of label100, label101,label102 etc.
I coded a program to access a Microsoft Access 2010 database. The program is written using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. I get the error message that the database I'm trying to access is in an invalid format. look at the code below to see what I missed. The error is in the datasource statement.
quite new to database queries through VB. I have just created a DB using MS Access and I need to write data to it from my VB Application. Can anyone point me on which objects should I use to execute these write transactions?
I have code that refers to controls like buttons and labels and textboxes (obviously), but i want to create them programatically, how can i create a button or label that is on a form that has also been created programatically. Here is what i have:
Dim frmIndashone As Windows.Forms.Form Dim vscPage As Windows.Forms.ScrollBar Dim lblPageNum As Windows.Forms.Label Dim txtVector As Windows.Forms.TextBox Dim txtPageCode As Windows.Forms.TextBox
I am asking because i have a With statement that assigns different values to the different things that looks like this below:
RaiseEvent Load(frmIndashone) With frmIndashone .vscPage.min = 1
[code]....
But i am told on everyline of the second snippet that vdcPage, lblPageNum, txtVector and txtPageCode are not members of windows.Forms.Form, How can i make them members?
I'm building a simple WFA with a label that changes and gives instructions to the user as they work their way through the program. Is there a way to programmatically re-center the label horizontally after each text change so that the label is always centered in the form regardless of what text is present?
What I have is 10 checkboxes 1 to 10 which all can be one of several options (the options are constant for all the checkboxes) and I need to change a variable according to what the checkbox.text preperty contains.
I plan to use a For to next statement
For i = 0 to 9 If Checkbox(i+1).text = "hello" then String(i) = "bye"
[Code]....
However I cannot refer to a checkbox in the way i have done above. Essentially how do get what the checkbox contains based on on my counter, i.
Note: it is i+1 because the first check box starts at one yet my counter starts at zero.
it's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!
I programmed an app with an Access 2010 database, I installed the app and the database on a computer with office 2007. The app can't open the database. Do I need to copy some extra file on the user's PC?
I would like to refer to a control but i do not know its number but i do know that it is a ComboBox. I was told to use this
Me.Controls("ComboBox" & 1 + i).Text Which would get the text property of the i +1 ComboBox. However when run this I get an ullReferenceException was unhandled error. What an I doing wrong?
I've built my program a database in Access 2010. Works very nice. But I've had a thought. When my program is compiled and I give it out to users. Will those users need a copy of Microsoft Access to use my program. If so, How could I make it so that no install of Access is needed.
I'm using win7 64bit + express 2010. in the program, I need refer to Microsoft HTML Object Library. So, I added it, then I found, it can not be "copy local". I remeber it could before when I use oit on vista + 2008.
Now, the question is: how can I include it in the setup? since some users may not have this dll on their pc.
