VS 2010 - Literal - How To Refer To A Label Programmatically Using Access Database

Mar 9, 2012

I have names of all labels in a table of an Access database (one field is a form name- it can be repeated, the second field is a label name - it must be unique for the same form, the third field is a text of this label). E.g. the first record has field1="Form1", field2="Label1", field3="Smith" My question: How can I refer to a label programmatically using the Access database? E.g. Form1.Label1.Text= "Smith" In C languge there was the opportunity "remove the quotation marks" from the text ("Label1") and get the literal (Label1). Is this opportunity in VB.NET?

Forms :: Generate Text Boxes Programmatically Using Generated Text Box Names

Jun 22, 2011

i am trying to automatically generate multiple text boxes on a form with the following code

Private Sub CreateTB(ByVal x As Integer)
Dim y As Integer = 1
Do Until y = x

[Code]...

i need it to generate as many text boxes as the variable x states, so i used the do until loop thing. But i am stuck when it comes to naming the text boxes because obviously all the text boxes cannot share the same name. so i would like to know how to programmatically name each textbox uniquely.

C# - Decompiling .Net Assembly Produces Code With Invalid Member Variable Names; Names Starting With $STATIC$?

Sep 5, 2011

I am doing work for a client who has lost the source code for one of their VB.Net WinForms applications. The assembly they have is not obfuscated at all. I am trying to recover as much of the source as I can as C# source and have tried several tools for decompiling assemblies, including Reflector, ILSpy and JustDecompile (all the latest versions), but they all produce code with a huge number of errors in them. Because of the large number of errors in the generated code, I am going to ask about the specific errors (in different questions), get more directed answers and in this way try shed some light on why all the tools are having difficulty decompiling this assembly. This question pertains to the fact that the code generated by all these tools always have a large number of invalid member variables (fields) such as the following:

private short $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$nHeight;
private ArrayList $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts;
private StaticLocalInitFlag $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts$Init;

why the generated code has these invalid member variables?

Refer To An Object By Its Name?

Jun 18, 2012

Is there a possible way to refer an object through it's name in Vb.Net?The case is, I have menu items created in my designer with names such as MenuA, MenuB and MenuC.On the database, I created a table consisting the list of all available menus in string format : MenuA, MenuB all the way to MenuZ.

Also I created a dynamic table consisting the user permission, what menu is accessible by a certain user.So when I started the app, it will get the name of menu assigned to the logged user, and start to turn the Visible property to TRUE.If it was a Control, I would just loop through it by Parent.Controls.Find(FoundMenu, True).My problem is most of it is not a control, it is an Item added to the Control, or even another SubItem added to the Item.So how can I found an object in my UI only by it's name?

SearchQuery = "SELECT menu_name FROM tbl_menulist menu, tbl_user user WHERE menu.id_menu = user.id_menu"
QueryReader = ExecuteQueryReader(SearchQuery)
QueryReader.Read()

'dynamically' Refer To A Variable?

Aug 18, 2010

I have a bunch of string variables, string1, string2, string3 etc.At the end of my program I want to write these strings to a file, but I don't want to have to laboriously type out string1, string2, string3 etc.

It would be much easier to use a loop to dynamically refer to (string & loopcounter), ie reference the variable by dynamically concatenating its name from a string and a number. Python can do this with eval(). How does VB do it? I can think of loads of examples where it'd be useful. Otherwise I have to type out all the different conditions and that's not efficient.
