.net - Custom .ToString() Formats In .rdlc Reports?
Mar 2, 2010
I have a custom business object which overloads the .ToString() function. It also implements IFormattable.ToString, so I can define my own custom formats. This approach seems to work everywhere in my app, except .rdlc reports. For example, I have a text field on a report with the following expression:
=Fields!MyField.Value.ToString("lr")
"lr" is a custom format I have created. When running the report I always get #Error as the output. I've placed breakpoints in my .ToString function and stepped through the code as the report is running, and I know the function is returning the correct value, but the report just doesn't seem to be capable of receiving and displaying it.
I have a report that I need to run multiple times and save as PDFs. I am currently generating the report as a PDF programatically but want to save the reports without the user having to choose the save option manually each time.
The code I use to render a single report as a PDF is:
Dim warnings As Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.Warning() = Nothing Dim streamids As String() = Nothing Dim mimeType As String = Nothing
[Code]....
I was figuring I could run it in a loop and save the PDF each time.
I know that you can create custom formats for the DateTimePicker control, and I've googled this but is there any way that you can allow a user to only select Sunday dates in a Month with this control?
In my report I want to display the dollar amoumt in textboxs. So I set the textbox property Format as currency. My question is that I want to reports show brackets for negative dollar values. It works out except "$" sign being showing whenever there''s an amount showing. I want to remove this "$" sign from the report.
I would like to pass a value and add to it with the previous value thats what I want. The below code doesn't work...I can't understand the problem..Actually its for rdlc - total purpose I need it.My Code
public MyValue as Decimal=0 public Function AddToSum(ByVal quantity as Decimal) as Decimal MyValue=AddToSum+quantity AddToSum=MyValue return AddToSum
I have a simple windows form that i would like to send the values of a few textboxes and comboboxes to an rdlc report after saving them (I have VS 2005 standard, so no crystal reports) - it's as follows:
the textboxes are labeled length, width, height the combobox is labled unit of measure and contains two options - inches or centimetres the label has text of "your total cubic inches/centimetres is:" - followed by the unit of measure selected.the buttons are labeled save, calculate, print, print preview, and exit.Having said all of the above, the save, calculate and exit button code is easy enough and is good to go - it's print and print preview i'm stuck on the solution i'm after is to take those values and send them to an rdlc report that immediately prints (calls up the default printer dialogue) without preview or anything when the print button is clicked and also have a print preview function as well for when of course the print preview button is clicked. The report has already been created with the titles mentioned above..
I have an RDLC report that I am rendering directly to the Response Stream as PDF (rather than using the ReportViewer). In the code that renders the report, it's DataSource is bound to a List(Of ClassA) objects defined in a custom assembly. This seems to work for the most part. My problem is that I can't seem to handle the situation where a nested object is null. For example, given ClassA and ClassB (the nested object) defined as follows:
Public Class ClassA Public Id As Integer Public Name As String
[Code]....
the report displays "#Error" if TheNestedObject is null. If TheNestedObject is not null, it correctly displays the Name.
How can I give option to user to design there own reports? i.e. They should be able to define 1. Report Title 2. Reports Fields(When they click on Work Order button they should be able to view Work Order Table column and they should be able to select columns then a report should be composed. Then all the Column should be in the form datagrid. Is it possible.
1. What's the difference between ToString and ToString()? (i do know that ToString method is to cast numeric values to string but don't know how to get it to work)
2. Why do i need XML comment feature? is it necessary?
I did not see a forum for Crystal Reports but seeing as I am using CR with Visual Studio 2008 I will post here and move the thread if told to. That being said here is my problem. I created a custom function named formatTime. Here is the code
I am creating reports in Crystal Reports that is integrated within Visual Studio 2008, and I noticed that some of the features are disabled. One is the ability to link tables with a Right Outer Join or Full Outer Join. I also cannot "Show SQL Query" in Crystal Reports. Is this something I can enable or do I have to purchase or upgrade?
Basically, I am looking for a method on how to preview reports from a datagrid or it can be from the access database which populates the data to the datagrid (then displays this in the datagridview) in vb.net vs 2010.I believe there are two methods using the ReportViewer or using Crystal Reports, but so far, I have no idea how to get them to work. The first idea would be favourable - using the data from a datagridview (which may of already been sorted, filter etc) and be able to produce a report on that.
i am developing an application in vb.net having crystal reportsi have stored all my reports in a folder called report in my applicationbut initally when i executed i got a error msg like the report doesnot exixts in debug folderso i copied all the reports from report folder to debug folder & its workingany changes that i mke in report folder needs to be copied into the debug folder alsois it possible that the reports be executed from reports folder only & not from debug folder as everytime i need to make changes in the debug folderhow can i chnage the path to reports folder
Is there any way to make VB.NET to accept for all Date Formats as in VB6.0...I'm upgrading VB6.0 applications to VB.NET... Here I'm finding the Functionality difference due to VB.NET feature which goes for System date Settings.I tried using CultureInfo. But it also specifies only one format at a time..removing this functionality difference
Explanation : IsDate("MM/DD/YYYY") Returns False if the system date setting is of "DD/MM/YYYY"
I am working on VB.NET(Visual studio 2008)..I completed developing my application and i need to deploy the application. I tried it and faced problems in some areas like adding crystal reports to the setup and deployment. I created a setup file to my application and everything is fine except crystal reports...its showing the error like; An error occurred in crystalDecisions.Reports, crystalEngine threw exception.
although this topic has been posted for many times, I still can't figure out how to copy multi formats in clipboard. For example, I have a class called "Meta" and it contains data of a drawing. So if someone copy it to the clipboard, it should contains the original data of the class in a custom format called "drawing", a metafile of the drawing and a bitmap in case some app can't read metafiles. How exactly can I do?
I wish to avoid duplicate files using content based in any drive. Files may be at any formats . I dont know wat algorithm s used for fast search and how to compare all data formats.
I am completing a project for varsity and have done a lot of research on this topic but I can't seem to find the solution that I need. I am using Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Version 2.0. Here is the formatting they want me to use for the Cost Price textbox:"In your form, it should not be possible for a user to enter a cost price of 123.456 nor $123.45 (since we work in Rands and we also dont want to store the $ symbol nor do want the user to type a decimal point or a comma). Make sure that the cost price field has the following format: R ###. ## (where a user only has to enter the numbers)."
I looking for right code to proportional resizing images in different formats in this peace of code. I would like when this will go through folder to folder.
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click For Each File As String In Form1.rt.Items Dim foundFileInfo As New System.IO.FileInfo(File) Dim a As String = tB1.Text & "Gallerymanje" & foundFileInfo.Name Dim b As String = tB1.Text & "Galleryvece" & foundFileInfo.Name My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile(File, a, True) My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile(File, b, True) Next Close() End Sub
I am a little programmer in .net. I have a problem with opening flv files in my system. I want to make a software in .net which can open these files. If these files could be converted to wmv or any windows supported software I could open them & to be glad for new coding. Is this possible?
I would like to ask if you guys know how to convert 1 to 00001? For example, I have an item in my database with an ID of 00001. When I add another item again, it must increment already to 00002. But when I try adding one, the next ID saved is just 2. The zeros aren't on the left side.
The code is shown below da = New OleDbDataAdapter("select * from booklet", con) cb = New OleDbCommandBuilder dt = New DataTable
[Code].....
The output in the database after the 00025 is 26 up to 50 only. If I add another again, it's just another 51-75 only. I can't seem to save it on a format like the 1st series of ticket number that I've added directly on the database with the format of 00001-00025.
