I want to detect if a window form is open and if it is then I would like to bring it in front rather than opening it again. I know I need a form collection for this but I want to know if there is a built in form collection that holds all the forms in VB.NET or I need to implement my own.

I am trying to get the active windows title bar text, such as right now it says (Start a New Question or Discussion - Windows Internet Explorer). How would I grab that text?

View 1 RepliesI want to open a second form from the same window.the form2 should have the same size of the form1.I have searched a lot in order to find a good solution for this.and i thought of using panels. i would hide the panel when opening form1. a button in form1 will show the panel. it works just the way i want.form1 has the datagridview while the panel contains the details in which i will use to update the table.but i cant seem to update the table.is there a better way to open form2 in the same window and how can i update the table if i use panels.

The height of the titlebar depends on what OS the user is using so I'm having trouble because I can't give a definite value for this. How do I detect the height. and also for border i'm not sure if the borders have different widths with different operating systems. I'm using windows XP on classic mode, when I change to the themed mode, the height of the title bar changes so it won't work.
View 3 RepliesI'm making a game in which you advance through the levels when you click some buttons, the way I'm doing it is "formname.show" and "me.hide" inside the button code, but the problem is, using this code, it shows somewhat of an unprofessional look because it opens a new window everytime I reach a new level, and it gets quite annoying also.

I am having a difficulty in this login form that I have made. The same as the premade template login in VB 2008 which I am using right now.Here's what happens when I run the program Log in form open > Log in successful > Main window appears *The login form still does not disappear.
I tried hiding it via me.hide() Log in form open > log in successful > Main window appears > log in form disappear.*Now the problem is that I cant close the whole application because the login form is still there only hidden. Again I tried putting in the "EXIT" button the code me.close() login.close()Log in form open > log in successful > Main window appears > log in form disappears > Exit application *Now everything seems to be ok now and then I found another problem.Instead of clicking the exit button I tried clicking the X button on the main window. There I found out that it only closes the main window. Therefore not closing the whole application because the login form is still hidden.
i try to make an application that can communicate with the door magnetic device. So, when the visitor come to my house, i can control the door OPEN or LOCK using my PC. I;ve created a window form using VB.NET with button "OPEN" and "LOCK". Can anyone provide me some advise how to do this, or with some source code together found in other website?

When I run project splashscreen is popup and then Logon window is run. But unfortunately when Logon window is run the splashscreen still open like maximized window and I cannot see Logon window. How to fix that problem?

Okay so here's the question how do I get the links that open in a new window to open in my main webbrowser control. The above code does some, but it's not fool proof.
how to raise the mouse leave and mouse hover events for VB when i place my mouse cursor over the button.
When my mouse cursor is over the buttons, it will raise the mouse hover event and open the form, then when the mouse leaves the button, it will close the form upon raising the mouse leave event.
but currently, When i excute this two events, the for will open and close very,very fast. so fast that it is like spamming the VB.
So i am wondering how to change the code that i have to excecute the event one time every time the mouse is over the button which is created at run time.

However I don't want it to do anything if the forground window (of another application) is in edit mode so if you map the v key, the user will still be able to enter it in a text box. However, as soon as the user presses CTRL-ALT-DEL the Windows Security Screen comes up and it is too fast for VB to detect that the keys have been pressed.I did a little reaserch on how to work around this issue and found that a GINA stub can be written which can delay the Windows Security Screen by some time say 2 secs which would be enough for VB to detect that the keys have been pressed.Also disabling Ctrl-Alt-Del through VB does not work because it is too fast for VB and I would like not to disable CTRL-ALT-DEL

Is there something in the excel object model to simply access this property? (Like the application.printpreview in the Word object model...).

Objective : Time how long a user has been on the internet. I have never delved this deep into Visual Studio. I am suing Visual Basic 2010 Express. Please move it if you need to.
I want to have a program - that will detect running processes. If Internet Explorere EXE or Chrome or FireFox exe or any other browser is installed - as soon as that process starts the timer will appear.
When those processes are closed by the user the timer stops counting. This is possible but i dont know how. But i only want it to time just one internet process because timing them all when they are openend up at different times could cause bugs. Unless on the time form you have 1 timer for IE, 1 for FFox, 1 for Chrome 1 for Opera..

View 3 RepliesI have some code that loops in the background of a form and triggers action if the form is active (this is in a mdi forms application). I use the following to check this:

The problem comes when that form starts another form running in dialog mode i.e. form.showdialog. I need the above code not to run while this is the case, but it still returns true when the dialog form is active and the other form is in the background.
Is there any way to detect whether a dialog is open in an mdi environment?
