Make Program Detect And Dock To A Window?

Let's say I have only Notepad.exe running. No other items are on my taskbar except "Untitled - Notepad". How do I tell VB that i want it to find notepad and for example, dock itself to the left hand side of the notepad window?

How would I make my VB Program detect mouse clicks? I want the code in a timer. So if I turn the timer on, my program will detect a Mouse click and then do the rest of the Timer code. And after the timer code is done, I want it to do it again until the timer is closed. So if the timer is on, every time I click the mouse, (anywhere on screen) it will do the rest of timer code.

border of that said window so the only place the mouse can't click the titlebar and the minimize,restore, and maximize button. The height of the titlebar depends on what OS the user is using so I'm having trouble because I can't give a definite value for this. How do I detect the height. and also for border i'm not sure if the borders have different widths with different operating systems. I'm using windows XP on classic mode, when I change to the themed mode, the height of the title bar changes so it won't work.

application i'm developing in school.I am trying to make the program detect when the user copies new content to the clipboard,when this happens I want the program to check the data type,
I want text content to be written to a text file.Images can be left alone.if a file or folder is copied, i want the location of the copied file and the file name to be written to a text file.
I only really need help in getting the program to detect a clipboard modification, preferably with the AddHandler statement.

I am new to VB 2008 programming The first project I've been tasked with is creating a ticker/notice-board for our office - which will show Horizontaly scrolling updates of incidents being reported. I'm ok with the scrolling, keeping on top etc - but what I am unable to do is make my form dock to the top of the desktop window, and make any other applications windows smaller.
So that when any other application is maximized, it's window will not go behind my ticker application - so people can still easily use any other applications toolbar etc. Is this possible to do in VB 2008?

I have so far been able to write the program that glasses the windows I want (via a global keyboard shortcut).
I now need a way to replicate Glass2k's feature which makes glassed windows stay on top of all windows irrespective of which program I switch to (more like setting a WinForm's TopMost property to True. Is there any way of doing this in .NET?
I'm prepared to get down and dirty with DllImports and all so any suggestion is welcome as long as it is in VB.NET or C#.

Alright, so what I'm looking to do is make a dock or some other thing that I can hide/show for programs. Kind of like a shortcut holder. how to approach the issue. I'm thinking maybe I could make a new button based on some settings in the VB thing, but that seems rather inconvenient. I was also wondering if anybody knew how to get the icons from shortcuts or the rest to use those as display pictures. "Victory is difficult to see beyond the devestation incurred in its pursuit."

I need to make a program for school that closes the active window. My application does now SendKeys.Send("%{F4}"). It works but, it also does it when there are no active windows. I want it to close only the active windows.

I am currently working on a launcher, and it must consist of the following:
- one main routine being called, NO WINDOW may be created at any times after or before this main routine.
- one small form called by the main routine if a certain command was sent through the Command (shortcut).
At this point I use a Windows Form, but it seems a little useless to create and initialize a form if you won't even use it. Any way to make a routine run when my program starts without showing any window? But still make it possible to show that small dialog?
I did this at first but it seems a bit dangerous:

I've been searching all over and unable to find a way to do this. I'm not sure if it is possible but thought I would ask. I have a program that runs in the background and hooks the keyboard keys to perform actions when a hotkey is pressed. However I don't want it to do anything if the forground window (of another application) is in edit mode so if you map the v key, the user will still be able to enter it in a text box. Is there a way to detect if the forground window or control is currently in edit mode?

I need to be able to test if the current view is print preview in Excel 2003.
Is there something in the excel object model to simply access this property? (Like the application.printpreview in the Word object model...).

I'm working on a web browser named Hyvar.NET and i'd like to integrate a form of shutdown detection into it.
Currently, it simply uses a tri-option setting to decide how it opens - like this

Each variable is appropriately named for its job as you can see.
However, i want to change this to react to correct and incorrect shutdowns - unexpected and user instigated ones for example. I.E: if the settings variable for the detection contained 0x000000, it could indicate a clean exit and continue as normal with a new session, but 0x000001 would indicate an unclean shutdown and present the user with an option of reopening the last session or continueing as normal, like in IE 7/8

Objective : Time how long a user has been on the internet. I have never delved this deep into Visual Studio. I am suing Visual Basic 2010 Express. Please move it if you need to.
I want to have a program - that will detect running processes. If Internet Explorere EXE or Chrome or FireFox exe or any other browser is installed - as soon as that process starts the timer will appear.
When those processes are closed by the user the timer stops counting. This is possible but i dont know how. But i only want it to time just one internet process because timing them all when they are openend up at different times could cause bugs. Unless on the time form you have 1 timer for IE, 1 for FFox, 1 for Chrome 1 for Opera..

I have Windows XP Pro, SP3 on a Dell Dimension 9150 with VB 3.0 and all other Visual Studios up to and including VS2010 Pro.I'm not exactly an expert VB programmer, but I have written several different programs.I would like to write a VB program to run in the background and detect when the program regedit.exe/regedt32.exe tries to run.Once the regedit program tries to run, I would like my background program to pop up a message with three options. Allow, Do Not Allow and Cancel.
The Allow button would allow regedit to run.The Don't Allow button will not allow regedit to run and continue to run in the background. The Cancel button would not allow regedit to run and would cancel the background program.Can this be done?I would explain why I want to do this, but it would take too much of this thread. However, if anybody really needs to know, I will accommodate their request.
