I'm working on an uploader built with an HttpHandler. I would like to create a routine to handle all uncaught errors including content length error.

It's critical that I handle any 404.13 (request exceeds request content length) error in the httphandler itself.
I would also like Page_Error to handle any uncaught exceptions but it never fires.
I'm having a ridiculous time trying to get an SMS API working (ZeepMobile, if you're interested) with .NET... I've been around .NET for a few years, but with all this social networking and API stuff, I need to get into the HttpWebRequest a bit. I'm new at it, but not completely new; I was able to hook up my site to Twitter without too much fuss (ie, I was able to modify someone's code to work for me).
Anyways, the way their API works is to send an SMS message, you send them a POST and they respond back to you. I can send it just fine, but every time I do, rather than echo back something helpful to figure out what the error is, I get the Yellow Error Page Of Death (YEPOD) saying something to the effect of "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request." This occurs on my line:

Is there any way to simply receive the error from the server rather than have the webserver throw an exception and give me the YEPOD?

What is the convention in VB when a sub requires that a try/catch block succeed in order to function, but the catch block doesn't bubble the exception up?
I could put all of the code into the try block, but this seems messy since most of it doesn't need to be tried, it just needs the try to have succeeded.
For example, should the catch block exit the sub? This would work in my current situation, and if it is the proper procedure, let me know, but what about the more general scenario where both both success and failure require additional processing?
I wanted to warn the user that a text box only accepts 2 characters that are only numbers. I have the maxlength property of the textbox set to 2. I also need the user to be able to BS to correct the entry, but the BS goes over the maxlength.

I'm using Try/Catch blocks for a program calculating payroll and commission. I've dim'd my variables, and I've parsed them inside my Try/Catch blocks. It appears as if my Try/Catch blocks have been coded correctly. However when in run-time, my format exceptions will show regardless if I provided a correct input.[code]Is there an issue with my programming? In my code I currently have no other error handling. Should I still insert try, catch, finally blocks?
I have sql server2000 encypted stored procedure. I can not modify them. Typicaly all the procedures manipulate row by row different tables using cursors etc. When the stored procedure is executed at the Query Analyser screen, I see error being thrown in between but the procedures continues till all the records have been processed. This behavior is acceptable to the client. I now need to automate the process using VB.net 2002 windows application. I call the procedure from vb.net but the program throws runtime error on the 1st occurance of a error in the stored procedure.

We are trying to add SQL Reporting Services to a .Net 2.0 Web Application. SRS has been installed on the server successfully, but we get an error when we try to load a report or access the report manager:
Server Error in '/Reports' Application.Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'netGmrc' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
The error is being coming from a line in the web.config where an httpHandler called Upload.axc is being added to the web application. The entire httpHandler section is listed below.

When we remove the Upload.axd handler from Web.Config, everything in SRS works fine. What is the proper way to have Reporting Services work along side the web application with this httphandler?
I have a webform application. The page has a from which contains a set of textboxes and one ASP:FileUploader. A button called "Upload" will uploaded the file separately from saving the whole form. I set up a httpHandler to upload files in chunks, and it should be fired after user click "Upload". They only way I worked out is set the PostBackURL attribute in the "Upload" button. e.g.

I have built working VB.net code that uploads multiple images to the server using Plupload. I am using an HTTPHandler (FileUpload.ashx) to do the uplading and want to add a SQL Statement that will insert each of the images File Names to my SQL Database. I have tried just adding the SQL to the Handler, but when I do I get 4 database entries for each iamge that is uploaded.

I am trying to implement a Custom HttpHandler (for the first time), I have been given a tutorial to follow but couldn't get it to work. I then found another tutorial but couldn't get that to work, they are both giving me the same error message.
The custom handler is to protect people from downloading certain file types, although i think the error is somekind of configuration problem as I can't get the website to work at all once I add the httpHandlers to the Web.Config file.

I would like to be able to return the text generated from an httphandler and insert it into my web page during an onload event. There are examples that show how to return an image by setting the image source to the path of the handler. But how do you do this for just text as in the "hello world" basic template. I would like the text value of a label on my page to be set to "hello world", preferably withour using javascript.

I have a field displaying on a datagrid that the user has asked to be variable length based on the data that is returned. Is there an easy way to determine how many characters are returned for a field and then converting that to a pixel length so that I can change the length of the field in the code.
View 2 RepliesI have a .net application that uses customerrors web.config module to display meaningful messages for errors. It works without any issues for 500 errors/exceptions caused by non-ajax and ajax components (updatepanel). However, in a scenario where updatepanel's asynchronous request times out, there is no error raised at all. I was able to see the timeout in firebug and come up with a solution that would at least display the error message as an alert and then redirect the user to the 500 error page using javascript but it's not quite doing what the rest of the application does in case of an unhandled errors like these. I basically just want everything to go through "LogEvent" mechanism so based on the severity of the error, it does the necessary work.This 500 error page doesn't have anything in the Server.GetLastError() for these timeout scenarios. Is this an expected behaviour? Can it be changed so I do have access to these timeouts in Server.GetLastError() OR maybe just run this error through "LogEvent" mechanism? Is there a better/more graceful way to handle this issue?

1)This is my code.. (below)what i am trying to do here is to insert username and confirmed password into a sql table called login via a pre created form.I have 1 textbox, 2 Maskedtextboxes and a button.
what i would like is if the passwords do not match in both maskedtextboxes for the system to throw out a message saying passwords do not match please try again..which then clears previous content and requires the user to enter details again. once details are correct and system commits the new user details to the table and throws up a confirmation message.
