.net - Using Rjindael And RSA To Encrypt Data Stored In QR Code In Visual?

Jun 23, 2011

I'm wanting to encrypt some data (hopefully under five hundred bytes' worth) and store it in a QR code. Originally I wanted to use RSA, so the data would be signed with User A's private key and User B's public key, but unfortunately, VB.NET doesn't like encrypting that much data. I've read that I should use Rjindael to encrypt the actual data, and then use RSA to encrypt the key used by Rjindael. However, I'm not having much luck being able to search the web for some kind of tutorial or something.

Also, if I was wanting to store this on a QR code, wouldn't I have to store both the encrypted data and the encrypted key used by Rjindael? Do you think this would all fit? I may be able to use version 40 on medium error correction [URl].. it stores 18,672 "data bits"), but I would prefer to use a lower version (that is, smaller) if at all possible.Generating the QR code won't be the problem (I know there's a .NET library for that), I'm just curious about getting the data encrypted to begin with.

Design A Program That Can Encrypt And Decrypt Messages Stored In Simple Text Files Using A Private Key Stored In A Separate File?

Jun 13, 2011

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:

Example (the "@" is the separator):

@
The character The Code End of line
A @ 4gh EOL
B @ 84!9 EOL

Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code. Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:

 Read any private key file
separator = readline(file);
while not EOF(file) do
tempStr = readline(file);

Code For Encrypt / Decrypt String

Nov 12, 2009

i have found a few encrypt/decrypt tutorials online but either they dont work or they only work when the application is running so if i encrypt a string using some code i find and save it (in its encrypted form) and then restart the application and enter the saved encrypted string into a textbox and run the decrypt code it wont decrypt it. i don't understand why en/de-cryption is so hard or why there are so little working examples online. could someone be so kind and show me some code that can let me en/de-crypt a string even if i restart the application or use it on a different computer? and doesn't show the weak key errors all the time.

I tried with the following code. It encrypted the file but after I FTP'd the file to my vendor he was not able to decrypt it.Then realized that this code is not using my PGP Keys to encrypt the file. It's creating a new key automatically. That's the reason my vendor is not able to decrypt the file. How can I encrypt the file using my PGP keys? So that my vendor can decrypt the file using same PGP keys.

Encrypt Data And Put It On A Txt File?

Apr 23, 2009

I made a program that encrypts data and puts it on a txt file. There are two parts of information that need to be "linked" to the other. Say its Person 1, then Person 1 gender, they need to be placed together. Each encrypted piece of seperated by a ";". I have it read the file and place the information on a Rich Text Box. How can I read all the encrypted info and stop at ";" then place that into a variable then read the next bit? I did this a while back but I used StreamReader/StreamWrite and can't remember how I did it. Right now it reads through the open file dialog and writes it to the Text Box with this command writetext.LoadFile(sFilePath, RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText)

How can I encrypt that so i can at least feel a bit safer... the attacker can also use replay attack on my website until they get into a user's account...

Encrypt Database And Using Data In Program

Mar 29, 2010

My database is going to contain personal data. (such as contact details, names, password, etc...) This is what I need:

1) I need to encrypt the database

2) However, i will also need to be able to use it in my vb.net program.

To expand on my second point, i will need to be able to display the data (non-encrypted, obviously), and i will need to be able to compare user inputted data to the database data (like, i will be using datasets, so, IF txtUsername.text = ds.tables(0) ...)

C# - Encrypt Or Secure The JSON Data When Needed?

Sep 2, 2010

I'm just starting to really get into JSON as a tool for my sites. I was showing my friend how I am calling a WS and returning the data, and he asked me about security of passing JSON data to and from a web service as he saw the data from the "POST" (via Firebug). Many of our public facing sites deal with member information and contain PHI.

Can I encrypt the JSON data and then unencrypt it? Is that a good way to go about it to ensure a layer of protection? Or is there another "better/right" way of doing it? Or are his concerns unfounded? how to encrypt or secure the JSON data when needed? Just trying to gather as much knowledge as possible before I go down a path that won't work for the company.

Encrypt Some Basic Data Being Sent From Server To Client?

Oct 11, 2009

I need to encrypt some basic data being sent from server to client.

I was going to open a file in bytes, convert it to chrs (Modify odd numbers by adding 2 and even numbers by adding 3) then use Base 32 (Triacontakaidecimal) or Base 16 (although base 16 will occupy twice the space). Convert the data back to bytes and after do the same with the decryptor.

About using base 32, is there some sort of class in vb.net or maybe an api?

Move Through Access Stored Images In Visual Basic?

Dec 10, 2011

So I have an application that saves and retrieves images from an Access database. The images are displayed in a picturebox but I'm having a bad time figuring out how can I move to the next/previous record/image in the database, so the user can view them and delete it if he wants to...

Here is a screen of my form so you can better understand what I'm trying to do:

And here is the

Imports System.Data.OleDb
Public Class Form1
Dim dbConnection As New OleDbConnection

[Code]....

Save and delete functions work fine, I just need to know how to do the Next and Previous buttons... This should be easy to do, but I'm still a beginner to VB

Biggest problem is that this is a part of a school work which I must deliver tomorrow.

Use Stored Procedure From QueriesTableAdapter, By Visual Basic In VS2010

Nov 16, 2011

I have created Stored Procedure in server explorer, and added this to my Form1

however, I find out I cannot simply use QueriesTable.Adapter.StoredProcedure1 in my VB code but I can add this Stored Procedure from TableAdapter and use TblContactTableAdapter.StoredProcedure1 to use this procedure, but I think it's kinda fool, why can't I use it directly from QueriesTableAdapter?

And I would like to know:

I think it's good to make stored procedure in database design so this procedure is saved in database server, rather than Client Side Application

Also, are queries created from TableAdapter saved in Client Side Application? which is not saved in database server side?

Asp.net - Project Level Imports Stored In Visual Studio 2008?

Mar 16, 2009

I have a Web Service Application Project in Visual Studio 2008. This is supposed to be an ASP.Net 2.0 project and at some point this has been rebuilt using 3.5.VS has kindly added in project level imports to System.Linq and System.Xml.Linq, but when I have re-targeted the project at 2.0 these project level imports have remained.Because the Web Service Application Project does not have the detailed window for editing project references I cannot find how to remove these project level imports. There is no .proj file which is where I would assume these were included.I cannot now build the project as it fails, even though I only get warnings (no errors reported) such as this:Namespace or type specified in the project-level Imports 'System.Linq' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases.

MSI Returned Error Code 1638 When Re-Installing Visual Studio 2008 - .NET Framework | Dream.In.Code

Jan 9, 2012

I realize this post is rather long, but I wanted to give all the information up front instead of people having to ask me for more information. At the end of the re-installation of Visual Studio 2008, there is this message:

"Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard. MSI returned error code 1638" in the log file dd_error_vs_procore_90.txt.

I have searched on Google for this whole message and found some references to this error, but I have done what they said worked for them and it did not fix the problem for me.When I searched for just "MSI returned error code 1638", I got that it cannot install something because it is already installed:"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel".In Add/Remove Programs I see these two programs:

Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.3
Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.4

Are these programs/versions what the error is refering to? Am I safe to remove them and depend on the similarly-named item which would be newly installed with Visual Studio 2008 - "Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard"? I still use SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on my computer, as well as 2008. I had installed VS 2008 on my computer before without this problem and also have VS 2005 and 2010.
