I really need line with this I can't figure this out . I am looping through items in a list view box, I am then adding them to a string. I need each new line in the listview box to be a new line in the string. I will then add this string an access database. But I can't get it to skip a line in the string
This is the code For Each lvItem As ListViewItem In lstVParts.Items
I've already used arrays and a random number to generate a sentence with the pattern KLAC, but I need to write this to a text document and then do it again. I have succeeded to write the first sentence, but the second will not register. This represents essentially everything I've tried. (I haven't included the arrays because they're pretty long.)
repeat: Dim rndNo As New Random() Dim chosen_aword = aword(rndNo.Next(0, aword.Length))
In button1 Keyup I want to be able to make textbox1 skip a line. How would i do this. I tryed
Private Sub button1_KeyUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles button1.KeyUp If e.KeyCode = Keys.Enter Then textbox1.text = vbnewline End If End Sub
I would also want to know how to make it when I push the button2 it will undo the letter I just did
Private Sub button2_KeyUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles button2.KeyUp If e.KeyCode = Keys.Back Then textbox1.undo 'this will just undo the whole text I just did End If End Sub
There is a program that reads an Excel file using OLEDB and converts it to a tab delimited text file. This loop handles the conversion.
While reader.Read Dim count As Integer = 0 Try While (True) temp = reader(count).ToString + ControlChars.Tab output_file.Write(temp) count += 1 End While Catch ex As Exception output_file.WriteLine() End Try End While
Not the most elegant code for sure, but it reads in each cell one by one, then throws an exception at the end of the row to write a newline. The only problem is that it skips the first line of the Excel document.
I am developing an app which allows a user to send emails.I am using a multiline text box for the user to capture data, but when I convert it to a string it does not pick up a new paragraph. How would I insert a <br> & </br> for a new line within a string variable?
I have an output file that is putting the information in like this:
R
16
D

I

I need it to where the code is reading every other line. When I run the program it thinks that it is done once it hits a number. Here is my current code:
I'm currently use visual basic 2008. The problem is I have try this code but,it produce no output. There is no problem with the code I guess. Here is my code
Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim line As String 'Dim reader As StreamReader = New StreamReader("C:\drill.txt")
I have a WinForms app with a multi-line textbox. This displays and retains (after loading from the DB) line break characters fine. However if I assign the TextBox.Text value to a string variable and then re-assign the variable back to the TextBox.Text property, the line break characters are lost and replaced with a square character (can't past them here as they just paste as a line break!)
I'm looking for a way to search a string variable for two words and copy the text in between them into another variable. This needs to be done as many times as the match occurs.
I'm having trouble with reading a .txt file line by line, converting it into a string, then putting it into a listbox. When I execute I get an error saying "IndexOutOfRangeException was unhandled" Here is my
I have a string that contains many lines. It is someething like:
I want to be a millionaire.
I need to read this string line by line, that is to assign line 1 of the string to a certain variable, line 2 to another, and so on.Do you know how that can be done?
I am trying to insert a string variable inside of two strings, and make a combined string. Public Sub Page_Load() Dim Id As String Id = Trim (Request.QueryString("Id")) End Sub Dim mp3text as string url... & Id & ".mp3" My goal is to make the mp3text variable have a string that is: url...(If Id is 7) It is for some reason not connecting up correctly. I checked what string it is outputting and this is what it is giving: url...It is missing the Id content.
The code below works for the class that I hard coded "XCCustomers" in my RetrieveIDandName method where I use CType. However, I would like to be able to pass in various classes and property names to get the integer and string LIST returned. For example, in my code below, I would like to also pass in "XCEmployees" to my RetrieveIDandName method. I feel so close... I was hoping someone knew how to use CType where I can pass in the class name as a string variable.
Note, all the other examples I have seen and tried fail because we are using Option Strict On which disallows late binding. That is why I need to use CType.I also studied the "Activator.CreateInstance" code examples to try to get the class reference instance by string name but I was unable to get CType to work with that. When I use obj.GetType.Name or obj.GetType.FullName in place of the "XCCustomers" in CType(obj, XCCustomers)(i)I get the error "Type 'obj.GetType.Name' is not defined" or "Type 'obj.GetType.FullName' is not defined"
I have googled this but all it comes up with is some C# and how to read a file line by line which is not what I want, what do you have to use to do this I tried this loop:
These is the content of my txt file which is saved in D drive in my pc abc,1,2,3..I tried the flowing but it didn't work:[code]I am getting error on this line.. data = line.Split(","c)...it says this line isn't in use anymore or something and that I rather use LineInput but thats asks for filenumber and i don't know what that is. I am sorry but I am a complete beginner. what else can I try? [code]ok that error is gone now but now if I want to add these values to a list box..how can i do that?
I have this code trying to print a signature to the printer. The problem is it is printed just at the top left corner. starting at 0,0.I want to print anywhere on the page. It means X, Y value needs to be manipulated. How can I get X,Y value from "line" variable and write back it.[code]
I have a variable creativly named VAR1 I need to insert the variables value in my regkey where it says 140 how do i do this.. Private Sub OKAY_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OKAY.Click
Dim wshshell wshshell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") wshshell.RegWrite("HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftwindowsCurrentVersionpoliciesExplorerNoDrives", 140, "REG_DWORD")
Trying to read in three variables per line from a text file that looks similar to the first code segment. What we've been taught so far to read in is something similar to the second segment. And it works all and good for single words per line.
If this was C++ I'm pretty sure I could getline and use the comma as a terminator, but I'm not sure if a similar function exists for VB.
