2005 Simulate A Web Browser's File Download Using Net.HttpListener?
Aug 8, 2009
In vb2005 how do you simulate a web browser's file download using Net.HttpListener? This current program functions somewhat like a webserver. how when a client from a web browser
asks for a file do i allow them to down load the file? currently the method will tell the browser that there is a file but it will fail after the client oks the file for download.
ok got a excel export I need to down load.I must log into the site to get it, special not standard login so I can't automate that. But once I login, I can use a browser to download the file direct from a URL. Works great, but I need to make a program to do this download portion.
1. I'm not sure if this goes here or on the ASP board, as it's a hybrid of both. If this is the wrong place I apologize in advance.
2. It's my understanding that this isn't a problem in IE7, but my company is on IE6 with no current plans to upgrade.
So I have some code running client-side via 3rd party software. It opens an IE window and shoots a request to a server-side ASP page like this[code]...
I've tried using Javascript to close the browser, but I can't reset the ContentType. I tried CloseMainWindow after I call the ASP page, but that threw all sorts of errors. I imagine I could use a timer but the process varies from a few seconds to five minutes.
Im trying to simulate a web browser click on a flash element and its not working Here is the code that im using. Im using PerformMouseClick("LClick") on the click button but its not clicking anywhere on the browser.
I have a user interface app that allows you to drag/drop in files - and it turns them into HttpListener request POST's to another EXECUTABLE that I have running - let's call it BACKEND1. BACKEND1 will be running on a SERVER when this gets ready for production use. Lots and lots of users running the UI - all dragging in files - all getting POST'ed to BACKEND1 - with the file included as a memory stream in the POST. BACKEND1 responds to the UI with a "sequential" file number assigned to the file centrally on the server.
On the SERVER is also running another EXECUTABLE - let's call it BACKEND2. It's job is to work with the DRAG'd in files. Both BACKEND1 and BACKEND2 sit on the same SERVER. At the moment I am writing the memory stream to DISK in BACKEND1 - and POSTing the FILENAME to BACKEND2 for it to work on. Would it be better to not write the file in BACKEND1 but instead include it in the POST to BACKEND2 - where it can be written to DISK? Is having LARGE HTTP REQUEST's a burden when sent between two EXECUTABLES on the same machine?
My primary goal is to have a really available BACKEND1 talking the the UI instances running out in the world. I'm concerned that doing the file i/o in BACKEND1 is "expensive" - and I don't care about the performance of BACKEND2 as much. just looking for opinions. I guess ultimately I'll have to bench mark this myself in a production environment to get a real answer.

Im using VB2005 express and the app im creating uses the web browser control.Basically I want to know if its possible to make the web browser control connect through a different ip address and port from your default web browser.
I am making a game based on "Simon" where the computer creates a sequence and the user then has to then replicate it. To create and show the sequence I am generating random numbers between 1 and 4 then based on what numbers come out I change the image in a picture box to simulate coloured squares lighting up. The problem however that I think I am having is that the loop I made is executing too fast as all I see when I run the program is the last light in the sequence. For example is the sequence generated was 2341 all I see light up is square 1. I have stepped into the program and it goes through everything correctly so the only thing I can think of is that it runs too fast to see? [code]
I searched the forum and everywhere else and ive been looking for a few weeks now and havent found anytihng on this. hey everyone, i got a code from somewhere to download files without web browser control. The downloader only downloaded 20mb of a file, which was a big problem. I fixed that error, but now i want the code to loop through a listbox and download all the URLS from it when a "download all" button is clicked. [code]
I created one download accelerator using vb.net. now I integrate that application in IE(i.e when user click on any download link it should open my application instead of normal download window.for example the system having Internet download manager(IDM) ,when we click on any download link in Internet explore it automatically open IDM instead of notmal popup. same thing I need to do in my application.
I have application that watching on my folder for download from my browser. When the file is downloaded i want to move this file immediately in some other folder depending on the file extension. Now, the problem is i don't know how to setup FileSystemWatcher properties, because i want to FSW alert mi only after the file is created and when it's able for copying or moving. I 'am really confused about notify filters and which events to control. The event FSW.created is unuseful because it's raised when download starts.
I usually download file using following code:My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("url of the file","filepath to save the file")But recently I encountered a site that only allow file download if you click it from its site and not via direct downloading from vb.net code. How to download file from http server that requires a referral before allowing the download?
I was woundring how to make a custom 'download' dialog for my web browser in vb 2010. Because when i click 'download file' in my tabcontrol it's always loads up the IE download file dialog. I have seen the IE Clone can do it, but i didn't uderstad how to do it.
i try to download multiple file + progressbar.. but its seems nothing happened and the file is not download.. my program just function like.. when the file was error.. it will download the latest file from webhost..
I am creating a web page which converts binary data into a temporary file. The *.tmp file then gets converted to a *.tiff file. This all works fine.
The next step I would like to take, is for the web page to programatically go to the local *.tiff file, and simulate a double click in Windows Explorer.
This should then either Open the file, or ask what program should be used (as per all non recognized file types in windows).
I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)
I wrote a HttpListener console application just to test it. I have been able to get the Httplistener class to respond to request for the local host, but not for any other URL. Any ideas? All examples I have seen on the Web just parrot what's on MSDN but no one has actually said that they got it work for any other URL other than local host.
In my code, I will add a URL to listen to like:Prefixes.Add("http://junk1234:80/"It it registers just fine(no errors) but when I type in http://junk1234:80 in my browser, my application just sits there and does not respond.
This works just fine(+ is a wild card to listen to any URL):Prefixes.Add("http://+:8080/") Browser URL: Http://localhost:8080 But if I change the URL to Http://junk3333:8080, my Listener code does not see it even though it should see any URL on port 8080.
I am running on Vista Home Premium(.Net 3.5) but running my listener console app as a admin.
