Use A Browser To Download The File Direct From A URL?
Jan 29, 2009
ok got a excel export I need to down load.I must log into the site to get it, special not standard login so I can't automate that. But once I login, I can use a browser to download the file direct from a URL. Works great, but I need to make a program to do this download portion.
I'm not sure if anyone here uses media fire for file hosting/sharing, but I was looking for a way if it is possible to get the direct download link for my files so that it will eliminate the step for my users to need to click on a link and download the files. I want my app to goto the url where my files are, search the page for the direct url link and execute the link for them automatically, seemlessly in the background so they dont need to do anything. Is this possible?
What I want to do with my application is to make it download off a direct link (not specifically mediafire) without things popping up lol. I'm not sure if if I'm even close but here's my attempt...
Dim address As String Dim destinationFileName As String address = "http://download772.mediafire.com/cwzuegbckADg/wimmh5jeiyz/In_Gods_Country.jpg" destinationFileName = "C:Documents and SettingsHome2Start MenuProgramsStartup123test.jpg"
1. I'm not sure if this goes here or on the ASP board, as it's a hybrid of both. If this is the wrong place I apologize in advance.
2. It's my understanding that this isn't a problem in IE7, but my company is on IE6 with no current plans to upgrade.
So I have some code running client-side via 3rd party software. It opens an IE window and shoots a request to a server-side ASP page like this[code]...
I've tried using Javascript to close the browser, but I can't reset the ContentType. I tried CloseMainWindow after I call the ASP page, but that threw all sorts of errors. I imagine I could use a timer but the process varies from a few seconds to five minutes.
In vb2005 how do you simulate a web browser's file download using Net.HttpListener? This current program functions somewhat like a webserver. how when a client from a web browser asks for a file do i allow them to down load the file? currently the method will tell the browser that there is a file but it will fail after the client oks the file for download.

I created one download accelerator using vb.net. now I integrate that application in IE(i.e when user click on any download link it should open my application instead of normal download window.for example the system having Internet download manager(IDM) ,when we click on any download link in Internet explore it automatically open IDM instead of notmal popup. same thing I need to do in my application.
I have application that watching on my folder for download from my browser. When the file is downloaded i want to move this file immediately in some other folder depending on the file extension. Now, the problem is i don't know how to setup FileSystemWatcher properties, because i want to FSW alert mi only after the file is created and when it's able for copying or moving. I 'am really confused about notify filters and which events to control. The event FSW.created is unuseful because it's raised when download starts.
I usually download file using following code:My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("url of the file","filepath to save the file")But recently I encountered a site that only allow file download if you click it from its site and not via direct downloading from vb.net code. How to download file from http server that requires a referral before allowing the download?
What I need to do is link the EXE to a dll that is in another directory out there somewhere. But I don't want to use the assembly namespace. I want to be able to set the direct path to the DLL. So basically this is how its setup
J:\AppBar.exe 'The executable that will need access to the C:\testdlls\EnvVarsPro.dll 'The DLL that the executable needs to be able to find.
So far I've come to the conclusion that the answer lays somewhere in the app.config file. This is what I've got for code...
I believe this is setup write. The publicKeyToken is set to null because its not strongly signed and I'm not exactly sure what culture is just yet. But for whatever reason it just doesn't work. You can see a commented line that does work but only if the executable accessing the DLL is in the directory above root. In order to bring organization to my file structure I need to do it with everything kind of put away and not smashed into one directory.
I am trying to use direct sound to play a wav file, so I may animate a picture box while the wav file is playing. I have made a device object and a secondary buffer object and when I run the program I get an error message(see attached image), but after I click continue, the wav file plays and it plays every time I click the play wav button. I am using a test project to work out the bugs before I implement the direct sound in my other project. Below is the the code I am using. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? The code needs a form named form1, and a button named xPlayButton.
I was woundring how to make a custom 'download' dialog for my web browser in vb 2010. Because when i click 'download file' in my tabcontrol it's always loads up the IE download file dialog. I have seen the IE Clone can do it, but i didn't uderstad how to do it.
I have my program set up with four buttons, each of which I would like to open a specific mp3 file in Windows Media Player when I click on it. I have WMP in the program already, but I can't figure out how to set the buttons to call up the specific files, and autoplay them
Ive been learning to use visual basic doing this and i know the code needs clearing up but i made an app that is storring values in an mdf mysql datatable. I made the app so you will direct it to a database through a menu where you select the file.. This works allright on my machine but..When i put it on another machine with .net 4.0 installed it still complains about Mysql problems..So im guessing theres a part missing. Is there something i need to install on the other computer using my app?.
If so what?. Maybe theres another way i can connect to a database without haveing to install stuff on other computers to make it work?.

I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)
I have created a application in vb.net. I am using Web Browser control in it.With this Web Browser control I open an URL and tries to Download something, it will populates an dialog for "File Download" to Open/Save/Cancel for the file..I am downloading the .ZIP file, and it will not show the checkbox for Automatically Do.Is there any way to perform the Download operation at the backend, means it will not ask me for such options.
Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
I am writing a Windows Form program to automatically download and store generated PDF reports from a web site using the WebBrowser Control. The web site uses Ajax to link an icon back to the source aspx file which then returns a PDF file.
The problem I have is that the WebBrowser control brings up the File Save As dialog box when the PDF file is returned and I can find no way of handling this to cature and save the returned file. I have found other examples of how to manage this using the Navagating event to validate the extension of the file that is being accessed (e.g. [URL] and, if not an HTM, file then use the HTTP Web control to directly download the file. Unfortunately this will not work as the call references a .aspx page.
