2008 : Can VS Copy The Executable To A Separate Directory

Dec 18, 2009

VS sets your project up with the default directory structure: ...indebug which also seems to contain some other files besides your dll (I assume these are related to the debug symbols, etc).So how do you set it up to copy your dll to another directory when debugging?Right now, I'm having to manually copy the built dll with every run and that's getting to be a bit annoying.I'm using VS 2008?

Separate Resources From Main Executable?

May 25, 2011

I have created a windows forms application with a lof of images and icons. The main .exe file is getting rather large. About 15mb. I assume it is because all of these images and icons. I use a .resx file to hold the images/icons.

Can I seperate the resource file from the main executable? Into a DLL or something?

I use an auto update program and would like to prevent the user downloading the whole 15mb .exe each time.

Everything copies perfectly fine except for 1 file. this occurs on the same file every time and sometimes the file copies successfully, but other times it does not.The problem file is a 7-zip archive with a .7z file extension. When it does not successfully copy, the file is only 8 bytes on the flash drive.[code]

VS 2008 Rename,Copy And Paste Directory Denied In Windows 7?

Jul 26, 2011

So i have this code that will rename one of the folder:

FileIO.FileSystem.RenameDirectory("C:Program FilesYahoo!", "Yahoo!1")

but when I run the code..it say's: IOException was Unhandled

Access to the path 'C:Program FilesYahoo!' is denied.

I think the OS is the cause of the problem. because in Windows 7 it asks for permission to change the name.

How could i make the program to continue renaming when the log in user is administrator.

.net - Copy Local Directory Contents To Another Directory

Oct 31, 2011

I have a straight-forward task I'm attempting to accomplish. I have the mechanics down, and need to hammer out the details but I'm stumbling across one small point. :)

This script is supposed to take the files in the local C:Temp directory, and copy them to a selected user's shared directory on the file server.

Protected Sub btnCopy_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnCopy.Click
My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyDirectory("C:Temp", "\MAVERICKVOL1Users" & ddlName.SelectedValue & "DESKTOPRECORDINGS", True)
End Sub

This script does indeed work (and I'm aware I need to create exception handling) but it only copies what contents are on the server's directory of C:Temp rather than the local source directory.

I'm using VB.NET/ASP.NET to achieve this.

How am I able to direct my function to use the local user's directory rather than the remote server?

Use A Button (A) To Launch A Prompt Where User Selects Directory Path To An Executable Program?

Aug 27, 2011

It's probably the most basic of things, but all I can find is how to launch a program, and not with the interactions I desire. Any tips as to the terms to use to search for answers, or links to topics regarding questions similar to mine, would be very appreciated. I have a wealth of info to read through, but I could use your knowledge to save myself time. Here is what I am trying to do:

Use a Button (A) to Launch a Prompt where User Selects Directory Path to an executable Program. The Selection is to be Persistent after the initial selection (saved in a settings file i assume?), and the Selected Path (or just "programname.exe") is to be Displayed in a Text Field (B). Launch Selected and Indicated Program via a Launch Button (C)

Windows Script Host Object Model's Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary.dll Referencing Same Directory As Executable

May 10, 2011

I have an application that creates desktop shortcuts. To do this I have to reference the Windows Script Host Object Model. When I add it as a reference, it always creates the DLL, Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary.dll, in the objx86Debug directory, then references itself to it, rather than looking at wshom.ocx. Even if I add reference wshom.ocx it reverts to saving the file in the objx86Debug directory. The problem is if I move my application to another computer without that DLL being present, the program fails to run.

Copy Text Or Url From Separate Web Browser?

Feb 26, 2009

What I need to do is pull information from reports which will then be parsed and sent on to another program. I have everything working except the first and most important step. I am not able to pull the information from the initial reports. They are displayed as html files in a very limited web browser. The window handle of the browser is "MSGWND" and the child handle is Internet "Explorer_Server". I can make this work by pulling the information out of the notepad or by loading the html file myself but I can not seem to get any information out of the "Internet Explorer_Server". Ideally I would like to just pull the url that the browser has opened but I don't know where to look for that as those are the only handles in the whole window.

Deployment :: Can An Executable Program Create An Executable File

May 17, 2012

I have a program that outputs a file. I want the user to be able to just double-click the output file and launch the program, just like Word and Excel. In Word for instance, one doesn't necessarily have to open WORD then click on File--> Open and locate another Word doc. He can just go to the folder and open the Word doc. I want to implement the exact scenario in my program.

So far I have tried creating TextFile and added it to the Resources. On FormLoading, I simply I stream-read the Resouce file, but I can't write to the Resource on FormClosing, since the Resource is ReadOnly. Also, the Resource is built & compiled so I suppose you can't add anything to it at run time. How you lunch an output file without launching the Executable program that created it?

I registered the DLLs in the SysWOW64 folder. I also ran Dependency Walker which came up with IEFrame.dll as flagged, don't know if that is relevant though.
