ASP.net: Handle Events From Dynamically Added Controls?
Jun 22, 2009
I have a number of user control dynamically added to a page, and user interaction with these dynamically added user controls need to be handled by the control's parent. Is this what is referred to as "event bubbling"?How do I do that in VB?
I am trying to create a program, where the user click a button and this will add a custom control and then drag and drop them on the form.
What I want to be able to do is add multiple controls (by clicking this button) and for them all to have the same events. So basically they can add as many as they like of this control and then click on it and drag it anywhere.I know in vb6 there was the use of the control index but I am not sure how to do this in Visual Studio 2005?
Am on creation of touch screen UI system.And am generating button for selecting products
Under certain category.
--> array of button creating dynamically And placing in TABPAGE when user selects Tab for category. The button will be created with the name of products, Under the category selected.
{ 'the way am creating controls. mybutton(j) = new button() mybutton(j).top = 100 }
How can i get the Click event of those buttons-( in the array)....??
I have the user control that is loaded dynamically. When the user save the data by clicking on the Save button, a raise event is passed.
Public Sub RaiseCloseEvent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) RaiseEvent Close(sender, e) Debug.Print(String.Format("The control {{0}} was closed by {{1}}.", Me.Name, sender.ToString)) End Sub
In the save button I have called the RaiseCloseEvent as follows:
RaiseCloseEvent(sender, e)
Now, how can I close the user control form? Any Idea? I have used VB.Net language.
I understand the page lifecycle and how i need to add the dynamic controls on page_init if I want to take advantage of viewstate. Also I know that I should try to avoid dynamic controls when possible. The dynamic controls are created depending on an object that is created from custom event arguments sent from a custom treeview. Problem is I need viewstate so I need to create them in page_init but I don't have the event args to create the object that tell me what controls to add until later in the lifecycle.
Private Function GetEventArgs() As npTreeViewEventArgs Dim control As Control = Nothing Dim e As npTreeViewEventArgs = Nothing
[code]....
I use this in page_init to create my object and controls.
I am trying to make a small control that has a picturebox and a few labels that can be dragged on the form it is placed on. The control was easy, and I can drag it fine when the mouse is down on the control, where there are no other controls, like not over the picturebox or labels.
When i try to click and drag the user-control and the mouse is on the picture box or labels of the control the mouse down event is not detected. I am hoping someone can tell me how to pass the mouse-down event from the controls on the user-control so the form I place it on detects the mouse down even no matter where on the control i click.
I'm developing a website in visual studio 2008 using (asp.net/vb)I have to allow registered users to build pages and add controls that are already defined by the same userMy problem is how to build this page dynamically?In other words, I'd like to make like any CMS (e.g. Joomla). CMSs allow us to make new pages and add our controls then save them..
I've dynamically added 20 pictureboxes to a panel and would like to see the panel scroll when I use the mouse wheel. To implement this I have tried to set the autoscroll to true on the panel control. Here is the code.
For i As Integer = 1 To 20: Dim b As New PictureBox() b.Image = Nothing
[Code]....
It works for "button" control, but not for the "picturebox" or "label" controls? How can I implementthe scrolling affect using 'mousewheel'?
I have VB 2008 Express and I am also new to VB. My problem is I cannot find any assistance with creating an Event that is attached to a Control that I inserted on a dynamically creeated TabPage. I call the "create_tab" sub (below) that creates a New TabPage and add some Controls (Button, two textboxes). Now, that I have the TabPage (and there could be multiple), I want to bind an Event to these items. So when a user Clicks on the Button in TabPage1, for example, a Sub executes where I can manipulate the data contents of the textboxes. Here's My code that creates the tabpages dynamically.
Added some controls. Build it, add the .DLL as reference to my other project.
In my other project:
Imports MyLib Public Class XForm Inherits aaMyForm
The events from aaMyForm execute correctly but the controls added to it are not shown on XForm. I have found some info about set Modifiers Protected in order to be able to change the functionality of the controls but havent found anything about why the controls aren display on the XForm.
Is it possible in VB.NET to easily write an event handler that will handle every event that fires? I'm wondering if one could make a logging system using something like this.I'm wanting to do something like (in pseudocode):
Public Sub eventHandledEvent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) File.Write(sender.EventName) End Sub
I realize it would be slow, but it wouldn't be for a production system, only as a development tool.
I'm trying to move some code into some class files to clean up my code. One area I'm having trouble with is reporting progress for events between the object performing the task and a progress bar. I guess the event functions have to be placed in the new class but they also need to update the progress bar on the calling form? Can the classobject return updates in place of the event handlers?
I need an application in background that handles key events in other applications. Really i only need to know if user press F7 key, and after call some functions. I try with
i have the ComClassSearchCustomers class and interface IComClassSearchCustomersat .net which used to create a tlb file. The class raise an event inside new. After that i have a vb6 form Form1 which catch the event , but it never see the event.
I have the below code. When I execute this code, the handle is different between the Load event and the Shown event. I thought the handle was static for an instance of a window. What could cause the handle to change? The only other thing the form is doing is setting itself to invisible and setting the ShowInTaskbar = False in the Activated event.
I am working a small project where I would like the user to be able to add images to a form, specifying a URL in the tag of pictureBox, so that when it is clicked.
Okay, so I have some problems with dynamically added pictureboxes. This is the code I have now. When I click on one of the imageboxes, I get teh following error: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
On my webpage I am loading multiple instances of a usercontrol, sometimes the usercontrol is laoded within itself. I need to save a bunch of properties for the round trip of a post back but i am confused on how to save those properties to ViewState and set them again to the repeater items within the usercontrol. have read the MSDN on Viewstate but I am not understanding it quite well for some reason..[code]
I have multiple textboxes which I want them to perform the same thing upon clicking them. By default I can use the handles textbox1.click for 1 single textbox but I am not sure how to do handle multiples of them. Of course I can write a handler for every single textbox but I have about 50.
Sub TextBox1_click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.Click If Button9.Text = "Make Changes" Then If TextBox2.Text <> "" Then Frm_Cine1.Show() [Code] .....
I am in the planning stages for developing a VB.Net class (let's call it OpDAq) that is to obtain data via an API provided by a COM object (AxInterop.TWSLib) that makes requests to an Internet server. The API provides data via events. Class OpDAq should do its work on a separate thread; it takes several seconds (sometimes up to ~10) to collect the desired data. One should be able to create several instances of OpDAq in order to collect data in parallel. The class would be given a reference to the TWSLib object when its constructor is called, as well as several parameters. There needs to be a way for the class to provide results, preferably in the form of a generic list.
I created a Class which inherits Combobox and the listview is added . Now what I need is once the user click listview, the listview has to close and the clicked item has to added with combobox text. simply can say combobox1.text = listview.item(0).textFor closing & displaying the listview I need to handle the events. For
My Codings :========Public Class Combu_lstviewInherits ComboBoxPrivate treeViewHost As ToolStripControlHostPrivate Shadows dropdown As ToolStripDropDownPublic mylistview As New ListView Public Sub New()mylistview.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.Nonemylistview.View = View.Detailsmylistview.HeaderStyle =
Is there any limit to the no. of handles assigned to an routine. Well actually my form form has about 80 controls and when ever the user press the enter key, focus must be to the next control. so can I handle all the 80 keydown events in one routine, or is there an better way.
This is my first post to these forums so forgive me for any etiquette I may be disregarding.I am creating a custom control that has a TabControl on it. The user will then double click or right click the TabControl to display a ContextMenuStrip asking if they would like to add a new image (or tab) to the project. After they select the image file, I create a new tab, add that to the TabControl, and then I want to create a PictureBox that I draw on in a particular way depending on space available and several other factors.
Where I am having the issue is in drawing the image to the PictureBox, it is only displaying the BackColor and none of the DrawImage work. It is important to note that because of what I am doing it will not suffice to set the PicBox.Image = ImageFile or PicBox.BackgroundImage = ImageFile. I need to select tiles from the image file and then draw them into the PictureBox in a particular way, which changes if the control resizes. Also, I am using a PictureBox because the final image within it can potentially be larger than the containing tab page, and therefore I want the TabPage to generate an AutoScroll bar. If there is another way to do this, please let me know.
Below is a very simple example of what I have currently. What I suspect to be happening is that the PictureBox's Paint event is firing after I do my DrawImage work and basically overriding what I did, but I hope I am wrong.OpenAddTilesetForm() simply displays a form for the user to select which image to use, and the properties pertaining to it.
I'm adding multiple combobox controls to a form dynamically, but am having a problem with one of the event handlers. The first event handler I've added (for the Leave event) fires, but the second (for the TextChanged event) does not. I've tried reversing the order when adding the handlers and I get the same results (TextChanged does not fire). Here's a code snippet for adding the controls, and the code for the events. I've added a breakpoint while testing to verify - but it never hits the code.
Dim cbo As New ComboBox cbo.Name = "cbo" & fldName cbo.Tag = fldName.ToUpper cbo.Top = rowtop cbo.TabIndex = tabOrder cbo.DropDownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDown [Code] .....
