User Conrol Mouse Events From Controls Added To The Usercontrol?
Dec 7, 2009
I am trying to make a small control that has a picturebox and a few labels that can be dragged on the form it is placed on. The control was easy, and I can drag it fine when the mouse is down on the control, where there are no other controls, like not over the picturebox or labels.
When i try to click and drag the user-control and the mouse is on the picture box or labels of the control the mouse down event is not detected. I am hoping someone can tell me how to pass the mouse-down event from the controls on the user-control so the form I place it on detects the mouse down even no matter where on the control i click.
I have a number of user control dynamically added to a page, and user interaction with these dynamically added user controls need to be handled by the control's parent. Is this what is referred to as "event bubbling"?How do I do that in VB?
I have a form with 2 contols that I with to connect by drawing a "wire" on the screen. It goes like this: you mouse down on the first control then move the mouse while holding the mouse button down. When the mouse is over the 2nd control the mouse button is released and the controls are wired.
So I am playing with mouseup, down, move, etc. When the mouse is over the first control I get mouse moves from that control, but when it moves off the events stop, and I get no events from the form even though the mouse is there.
Is there a way to do this? I have seen it done in a Java app. I could brute force it and just draw a box on the form instead of a control, but that sounds like a step back.
Added some controls. Build it, add the .DLL as reference to my other project.
In my other project:
Imports MyLib Public Class XForm Inherits aaMyForm
The events from aaMyForm execute correctly but the controls added to it are not shown on XForm. I have found some info about set Modifiers Protected in order to be able to change the functionality of the controls but havent found anything about why the controls aren display on the XForm.
I have created a datagrid of my own in vb dotnet and converted to dll. I add this dll to a project.i have 2 forms and i have added this control on 2 forms. When i run the project and open 2 forms simentaneously an error " reference not set to an instance of an object" occurs on acess of any property of that control.
I am currently wokring on a project, which is going to serve as an interface for accessing various documentation and reports. It is basically just a tabcontrol with a few pages that will be poppulated with buttons which will open the appropriate document.I am trying to allow administrative users the ability to add new, edit or remove buttons which all seems relatiively simple, but have run into the problem of how to persist the changes once they are made. I want the setting to be stored centrally, either in a SQL table or on a network share
is it possible to link a personal created class with a Mouse Event? I created a class and I want to make it possible to make it interactive with the mouse. So when the user goes over the GDI-created shape (which is declared and created in that class), he has to see some information about that shape, like the name etc.... And the user has to be able to drag and drop that shape.
I created a control that has picture box control docked within it. This control allows me to "animate" the image by swapping them out by setting the interval to swap them at. I want to use this control kind of like an animated icon within a application, but because the picture box is docked, the control I created won't respond to the events, MouseHover specifically. [Code]
I made a custom control for my form. It's basically a custom button I made using a label. The only problem is, when I apply a myButton_Click event to the control in my main form, it will only be triggered if the control itself is clicked. The label takes up the entire form (it's docked inside it). The click event isn't triggered when the control (virtually the label) is clicked. You must click behind the label (the form's background) for the event to be triggered. How can I pass the myButton_Click event to the label so it is triggered when the label is clicked? I hope I'm making sense.
I like to build objects that contain properties and also functions / subs to do work. I dont have a lot of other programmers around me to answer this question so I thought id ask. If my goal is to make a function or even sub part of a class blue print is it better to do it by making a seperate class for the function, and then construct a new copy of the classFunction as a property of the parent class or is it better to simply put the function in the parent class.
I'm currently debugging a form that sets a flag when the mouse button is pressed, then clears the flag when the mouse button is released. As long as the mouse button is pressed, the user can move the mouse around and a few things happen depending on where they move. One of the things that happens is that a timer starts, or stops, and a few things change color depending on the mouse position. The timer starts when it should, then stops when it should, but once stopped, it is not re-starting when it should. I can verify that MouseMove events are getting through, because coloring changes as I move the mouse, as it should. This would be a simple thing to debug...except that it requires the darn mouse button to be down, and it uses the mouse move event. Anybody who has put a breakpoint in a mouse move event handler knows the issue: There are THOUSANDS of them. Worse yet, since the mouse button is necessary for switching to the IDE, as well as setting a breakpoint (technically, a keyboard shortcut could do this if I could shift focus), I can't wait for the problem to happen, then switch to the IDE and set a breakpoint to see what is happening then.Does anybody have any tips or techniques for debugging in mouse move events when the mouse button is down and has to stay that way? As it is, I'm going to have to write some funky code into the method just so that I have a place to get a breakpoint when I need it without breaking on every one of the mouse move events.
I recently developed a software called MouseMe, which basically records mouse movement and mouse press events. The software itself is in BETA, and I am looking for some testers to have a go at my program.
I have a form whose purpose is to let the user to load map files. The form may manage a variable classes of maps, and each class have his own UserControl. To make it more user friendly, I added to each UserControl (different instances of the same class), a little map, showing a small picture of the map, and some data, as bound coordinates.
The problem is, that it looks really ugly. The maps are so big, compared with the rest of the UserControl (who contains just a button and a textbox to search for files).I wish to fix it, but I din not see an elegant way to include the pictures and info.I attach a form screen capture with two UserControl.I would like to get some tips for more experienced users. There are some guidelines?
On my webpage I am loading multiple instances of a usercontrol, sometimes the usercontrol is laoded within itself. I need to save a bunch of properties for the round trip of a post back but i am confused on how to save those properties to ViewState and set them again to the repeater items within the usercontrol. have read the MSDN on Viewstate but I am not understanding it quite well for some reason..[code]
[URL]its a free hoster, so you have to wait 10 seconds.First here's the steps to replicate, then I'll explain what the problem is:
(1) Create a System.Windows.Forms.UserControl and add a button to the bottom-right hand corner. Leave the button anchor as default (top-left). Add some more buttons dotted around so that you can see that they scale correctly.
(2) Add the UserControl to a form in the construtor, after the InitializeComponent call.
(3) Run the form.
(4) Increase the form font size some way (eg click a form button).
All the controls within the usercontrol scale perfectly but the usercontrol itself doesn't. It's width and height are increased by way too much. Look at the margin now between the button at the bottom-right hand corner and the usercontrol. To correct the problem, the usercontrol must be added before the InitializeComponent call.If it wasn't possible for me to add the usercontrol before InitializeComponent, is there any way for me to correct the scaling?
When I look on the Internet I find many want to know how to get MouseWheel events with a UserControl.I'm getting scrolling with the mouse wheel and don't know why.It doesn't seem to be the default since I have other usercontrols that do not respond the the mouse wheel. In one UserControll I find if I move the mose wheel the contents moves. Actully moves too much for good viewing.I've searched the code for "Wheel" - no hits. Also for e.Delts - no hits. Finally I tried:
[code]...
Commented out as shown I do not get the unwanted mouse moves. If I remove the apostrophe I do get them.
Questions:
Is it OK to not call the Base sub in some cases? How do I find out if it is OK? (For example I don't imagine you'd want to not call it in New()Secondly and most important, What is going on? Why and I getting scrolling with the wheel in a Usercontrol and not getting it in other UserControls?
I would like some code to execute at the "preload" stage of my usercontrol's lifecycle. However the preload event is only available on the Page object. So, I added the following method to my usercontrol: Private Sub Page_PreLoad(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Page.PreLoad
However, I know get the compile error: "Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types". As the Page property is inherited from UserControl I don't see how this can easily be done.
I have a winform with a wpf usercontrol on it (ElementHost1). The usercontrol contains only a button. How can I know when the wpf button has been clicked in my winform? How can I "redirect" the events from wpf usercontrol to winform?
A form's key events will fire when you press a key. Place a control on that form and it won't happen any more because that control has focus. There are exceptions to this however as you will see if you place just a h or v scrollbar on the form. The key event will fire because the scrollbars can't receive focus as is demonstrated by the following
Private Sub ScrollBar1_GotFocus(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles VScrollBar1.GotFocus Debug.Print("Scroll GF") End Sub
[code]....
So I've made my own special scrollbar usercontrol and i can't figure out how to have it leave the key events alone. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that my usercontrol can receive focus at the moment.
I found that the way of doing this is "SetStyle(Windows.Forms.ControlStyles.Selectable, False)". I put that in the new event of my usercontrol and now it looks like this:
Public Sub New() ' This call is required by the designer. InitializeComponent()
I've created a VB.Net ClassLibrary with a UserControl in it. I can load it from an HTML page and call the methods that I created. This works as expected. I've tried several examples for how to raise an event from the VB code to the js caller, and none of them seem to work (I'm using IE7).
limit the default events, properties and methods exposed from a UserControl so it only displays to the developer the new events etc that I code myself. What i mean is I have created a UserControl with a panel and 5 buttons, written 1 Public Eventonly at this stage, I have placed an instance of the control on a form in a new project, but in the drop down menu that comes up after say (myUserControl1.), there is a massive list of options, I don't want those to appear.
I am trying to create a program, where the user click a button and this will add a custom control and then drag and drop them on the form.
What I want to be able to do is add multiple controls (by clicking this button) and for them all to have the same events. So basically they can add as many as they like of this control and then click on it and drag it anywhere.I know in vb6 there was the use of the control index but I am not sure how to do this in Visual Studio 2005?
How do I check whether the controls in a usercontrol contain any value?
I have created a usercontrol called ctlCustomerAddress and I want to create an address record in the database if only I have the values in the textboxes.
I'm creating a small game which when the user clicking a menustrip item "New game" adds event handlers to each label in a panel control.
For Each scoreLabel As Label In Me.panelScore.Controls If Not (scoreLabel.Name = "lblLeftBonus" Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblLeftTotal" _ Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblRightBonus" Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblRightTotal") Then
am trying to make use of inheritance to keep consistency in my user control appearance. I created a usercontrol to use as my base design, as a platform to link to a tab as acontainer. To this I added a few framing visual items like a header panel andsome labels.I then created another usercontrol that inherits from my base control, with the intention of adding the necessary items to this derived control to build it into a complete functional usercontrol that I can associate with a tab on my main form. I want to keep the visual appearance consistent across all similar derived controls. Then later if I change the design of the base form, this flows through to the derived controls.
i'm building a control. then the control can be puted in form(or other container) and i need to know what controls are in that container. for now i don't put it to work:
Code: Public Sub AllControlsName() Dim i As Long For i = 0 To Me.Container.Components.Count - 1
