Accessing Outlook PST File?
Feb 12, 2010
I've been able to find a lot of examples for C#, however I'm not any where near proficient enough to write what I need to in C# What I need to do is access the pst file and read the new messages that are being received.I'll worry about the rest later, for now if someone can point me in the right direction

How can I access (read, write, create, delete) user-defined fields for single contacts in Outlook directly via the Exchange Web Service? I need to create/name a field and set a value (it should be viewable in the Outlook contact > "All Fields")I've found some code to set extended properties - it worked, so I could set and also read some values. >> but its not listed in "All Fields" of an contact.I'm using Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 - but it should also work with other Versions (Exchange 2003, 2007 and Outlook 2003)

I'm using Outlook 2000 and I'm trying to access data held on a customised Outlook task form held in a public folder.I'm using the following code to get at what I need, and can see certain values via objTask, but I can't see where I get at other 'fields' used on the form. One of the fields, for example, is called "CC Ref", but I can't find where I can get at it.

I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.

I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

I've been stuck on this for 3 days now.I have a TiffBitmapDecoder accessing a file and generating a BitmapSource from one of the frames in the file. If I try and modify the file after that e.g. insert new frame or even delete file, I'm informed that the file cannot be accessed as another process is accessing the file. How do I either a) Get the TiffBitmapDecoder to release the file or B) force all processes that have access to a file to release?Note: I'm using WPF and the TiffBitmapDecoder does not have standard fileStream methods like close, dispose or flush.

I have written VB.Net code that will read a users outlook inbox and searches for messages that contain a particular string in the subject line and then move those emails to another folder in outlook.Recently I have had to create a small app that does the same thing except it saves the emails in the .MSG format and places them on the network drive. What I can't figure out is how do I get the outlook object to see the network drive after the fact.
After the emails are saved in the MSG format on the network, I have to create another application that will reside on users computers that will use their outlook to read these files again.I can easily attach to an existing outlook folder and read what is in it but the network drive path is not an outlook folder and never will be.

I Am a new developer in VS 2008. I am writing a small program that reads an XML file. Here is a snipet of code.
filename =
"XMLPolicyList.xml"
Dim DR As XmlTextReader = Nothing
[code]....
My understaning is that the system looks for the file in the bin/debug folder, so that is where I put it. But when executing this program. I always get a FileNotFoundException. The file name displayed is (filename). If I hard code the entire directory name and file name I get the same error and the file name is displayed with the same slash in front of it. For instance I put the file on the C drive and the error displayed C:(filename).I don't have the problem in older versions of Visual Studio. The same program runs fine in VS 2003. I'm thinking that there must be some sort of setting within VS 2008, but I have been unable to find it.

I'm running VB2005 and have an application where an operator can save a snapshot of an image in a picturebox as a jpg. They can call up any jpg they want and display it in another picturebox. The issue is that if there is an existing file and the operator loads it into the 2nd picturebox, the operator isn't able to overwrite this image file from whatever is in the 1st picturebox.

My mailbox regularly gets emails from people wanting to promote their events. Usually the subject line looks like this:
fwd: come to *TMC* meeting this weekend, <5/19/2012 @ 1300 >
I need a script to read the date, then make an appointment on my outlook calendar, using that date, time and term (TMC) as the meeting title. So it should make an appointment on 5/19/2012 at 1pm, called "TMC meeting"All appointments are 2 hours by default.I used The identifiers "*" and "<>" as an example, and can be changed to be whatever, what is important is that the meeting gets on my calendar with the correct title.

I am actually using Powerbuilder, but can convert easily from VB.net.
We would like users to be able to copy outlook message files to the clipboard (ctrl-V) and paste as a file into a
powerbuilder application. We have dragdrop working really well, but we have many users working through multiple citrix sessions where only copy - paste works.
Windows explorer gives a perfect example of being able to paste the message just as I would like. But what does it use under the bonnet to do this?[cod]e....

I'm essentially re-learning VB for the first time in 15 years to try and accomplish this task - I have a project to do for work which involves taking .doc files which contain hundreds and hundreds of names, addresses, e-mail addresses, and amounts they donated to the non-profit I work at, and inserting them into Outlook's contacts. I'm trying to piece together the bit I've figured out about Outlook/VB integration to do so, but unfortunately, most of the information I can find is the other way around - getting info FROM Outlook and inserting it elsewhere.
The doc file is essentially formatted like this:
FirstName LastName
423815 Central Park West
FirstNameLastName@Somthing.com
$3000.00
And repeat.
So for the email addresses, I obviously need to look for the @ and copy from the previous space or line break to the next - that's the theoretically easy part, along with the money donated, since I can similarly look for the $. The part that I forsee stumping me is, how to discern first and last name, and treat them accordingly, entering them into the right fields in Outlook? Same with the address.
