I'm using Outlook 2000 and I'm trying to access data held on a customised Outlook task form held in a public folder.I'm using the following code to get at what I need, and can see certain values via objTask, but I can't see where I get at other 'fields' used on the form. One of the fields, for example, is called "CC Ref", but I can't find where I can get at it.
i'm relatively new to outlook task creation from visual basic.when i create an outlook task, i want to insert a link with a custom string..url...instead of the left screen, i would like to come up with the right screen.by the way, i'm using visual studio 2005, microsoft outlook 2003 and outlook interop from outlook 2003.[code]
I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

Imports xOutlook = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I've been able to find a lot of examples for C#, however I'm not any where near proficient enough to write what I need to in C# What I need to do is access the pst file and read the new messages that are being received.I'll worry about the rest later, for now if someone can point me in the right direction
How can I access (read, write, create, delete) user-defined fields for single contacts in Outlook directly via the Exchange Web Service? I need to create/name a field and set a value (it should be viewable in the Outlook contact > "All Fields")I've found some code to set extended properties - it worked, so I could set and also read some values. >> but its not listed in "All Fields" of an contact.I'm using Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 - but it should also work with other Versions (Exchange 2003, 2007 and Outlook 2003)
I am having some trouble accessing the data in a listview. The data in my listview is popluated from the database which works fine. What I want is the user to be able to click on the entry in the listview and it show them a messagebox with all the data from the listview. I have 1 main item and 2 subitems in the listview.
I have been working for some time on a service that will act as a task scheduler and perform a shutdown action at one of 3 given shutdown times. Before you cringe and ask why not use the task scheduler, I should explain that permissions do not allow users to "create" scheduled tasks and therefore a creative work-around is required. In any case, I am still new to VB, but am including my code below. I want the service to check an alarm time every minute and launch a shutdown application (in the user's context - if logged in) if that time is NOW.
I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.
If i use this code to send an e-mail with outlook (2010) from my vb.net app (2008):
Dim app As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application Dim appNameSpace As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._NameSpace Dim memo As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem app = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application
[code]....
I get an error. It's work fine, when outlook is not running.
When I try to access the controls of a form which is not yet created (i.e. to modify the contents of a text box , to press a button etc) , I fail , usually without even an error message . I found out that the only way to make my program go right is to take care that the form is first created before I try to access anything on that form . However this means I must use the Show method to create it and then to Hide it , which leads to an instant awful optical effect . I remember back in VB6 there wasn't such a problem ; it seems that in VB6 each time I accessed a control on a not-created form led to the form being created silently . Is there any way I could do that in .NET too in order to access my precious controls ?
I have got an urgent question about creating an add-in for outlook 2007 using a VB.NET 2008.Does anyone know how to add a custom button to an Outlook toolbar?
I'm trying to convert an existing command line tool into msbuild custom task. This tool logs messages and errors using the System.Console class.I've added to the tool's assembly a class that inherits from Microsoft.Build.Utilities.Task and calls the tool main function, and the custom tool works fine - but no messages/errors are displayed (on the Visual Studio output window).I would like to avoid changing the original tool's code (otherwise I could change every "Console.Error.WriteLine" to "Log.LogError").I thought of changing the stdout and stderr streams of console by calling Console.SetOut and SetError before calling the tool's main function. For that, I would need to implement a class that inherits from TextWriter.
OK - for starters - I'm not even sure that the title of this thread accurately describes what I want to do - but I had trouble verbalizing it. So I will give this a try: In my application, I have a custom object, call it myObject. In addition, I have another custom object called myObjectList which is basically a List(Of myObject).
Up until this point, all of the functions that I have been working with in my BLL and DAL have been shared - I haven't needed a specific instance of my object thus far. I currently need to write a function that finds a particular myObject within myObjectList and returns to me myObject. I know that the List(Of T) has a find method, but from what I have read so far - I don't think it is what I want (doesn't it return true or false? -and also, do I need an existing object to pass to it to see if it is in the list?)
I developed a custom help system for my ACCESS 2007 application using Help Workshop. I wish to open this .chm file by a command button on a form but does anyone know how to do that?
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop Public Class Form1 Public Sub SaveAttachments() Dim objOL As Outlook.Application

im creating my own custom form design for some of my programs...i would like to get the basic form down and then save it as a template...before i can do that i need some help designing and creating the form. Im going for a windows office 2007 sorta look with a glowing orb at the top right. I need a few coding elements to implement first.
[Code]...
yes these are all things capable with the traditional windows form but i want something more my style. Also im creating a orb like thing in the top left and a minimize/maximize/close button at the top right. I was going to use just images...is this the best way or can i create better graphics in wpf or something like that? Some more things that i would like but dont nessarly need would be the capablity to make my form with the clear vista aero glass instead of a single static color...i dont know mutch about this but is there an easy way to extend the vista aero glass theme across forms and if so what would that look like on xp machines.
This relates to WPF but is broad enough that a winform answer will do. I have made a few custom controls in the past by inheriting from whatever particular control I wish to inherent from.
I have noticed that I can add a form to a class/user control library from the add new dialog and have it run. When this application is compiled I get a DLL.
So my question is can I use a Form as a custom control. The reason I ask is I am creating a more advanced MsgBox for a new application I require and a form as its container makes the most sense.
I'm trying to add functionality to my application to let user define "custom actions" in one of the context menus.Essentially, these would be command lines that can be executed against remote machines.I've got the code to add the menu items working but I'm not sure of the best of storing the data related to the menu items. At the moment I'm using a Specialized.StringCollection in the project settings but this only allows me to store a single line (i.e. the command line). This means that the text of the menu items is whatever command line the user has defined (not ideal). What I would like is to have a "friendly" name for the menu item (e.g. Start Notepad) and have that associated to notepad.exe.What's a good way to store this data so that I best dynamically build the menu items every time?
I'm currently working on an application that I'd really like to be able to have a custom form border. I have it set up right now that the close, minimise and maximise buttons work, as well as moving it around. The issue however is that, although the movement is working, once it starts, it does not stop. So I can drag it around and it works perfectly, but if I want to stop dragging it around and click elsewhere, the form moves to the position from which it was being dragged.
Public Class Form1 Dim clickhold As Boolean Dim doonce As Boolean Dim mousebase As Point
I set my FormBorderStyle of my form to none. This is exactly what i want, except I ran into a problem. When the background is gray (background of other applications running in the background), my form tends to fade in with the background (Still active, but i cant see where my form starts or ends).
I'm coming over from VB6 in which you could use 'user controls' to create reusuable custom controls. They were simple and contained and you can easily create several instances of a user control within the same or other apps. In vb2008 there are user controls but I can not figure out how to add them to forms or or other apps. Can someone please give me the the basic steps to add a custom user control to a form or project.
When I choose WindowState.Maximized from the properties toolbox, the form will open as maximized, but the icon that I chose does not appear... the VS default icon is shown. That is, until I minimize and re-maximize the form. Then, my custom icon is shown.
I want the form to open maximized. Is it possible to have the custom icon shown by opening the form this way?
I have created a custom Combobox and added it to my toolbox, and it works well. Now I have added a custom ListBox to the same file as the combo box, but it does not show on my designer when I place it. I can however add it at runtime. ''ComboBox <DefaultEvent("SelectedIndexChanged"), _ ToolboxBitmap(GetType(System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox))> _ Public Class ProjectsComboBox Inherits ComboBox ''My Customization [Code] ..... I have tried removing the "DefaultEvent..." and still no dice.
I have need for a customised form as the main page of my app, what I'm looking for is to create an amoebic shaped form, something like this. I realize that my 'window' will by nature need to be rectangular and that i will need it to have no titlebar and transparent edges, also i will need to have 'regions' on this form that will allow the form to be closed and turned into a standard rectangular form. I have no idea where to begin with doing this but I hope and presume it is possible with vb.net. The image I have used is for illustrative purposes only, i don't plan to do exactly this (my app is a database not a media player for one thing) If having it is a breach of copyright in this context I will remove it.
