I have a problem with accessing a data file from Access database. Data Source configuration Wizard comes back with a dialoge box saying "Error Message: Could not load type 'Microsoft Visual Studio.DataDesign.SynDesigner.SyncFacade.SyncManger' from assembly

My computer is a Vista and it have known to have lots of problem, but not sure if this is one of it.
I have written lots of code with the ADO Library in VB Excel and previous versions of Visual Basic. With the dissappearance of the recordset object, how do we perform data manipulation with an attached Access Database? It seems things could be a lot easier, and less complicated by now, however, the best methods appear to currently remain ellusive.

View 5 RepliesI am an old VB2 programmer and in the process of moving up. In VB2 I could obtain a data row via and index on an access table. I can not find an example on how to do this. I can retrieve a single row using a query, but an index would be faster. I know in Oracle use can use a hirt to direct the query to use the index.Here is what I was during in VB2 (Sample) with no hint.
Set Stock_Tbl = "DataBaseName".openTable(Stock_Tbl_Name)
Stock_Tbl.Index="Symbol_Idx"
Stock.Tbl.Seek="MSFT"

I'm using Outlook 2000 and I'm trying to access data held on a customised Outlook task form held in a public folder.I'm using the following code to get at what I need, and can see certain values via objTask, but I can't see where I get at other 'fields' used on the form.One of the fields, for example, is called "CC Ref", but I can't find where I can get at it.

View 1 RepliesI use Microsoft Access databases for my big project but I find the performance is very hit and miss. I time the processes and sometimes there is some serious lag. Here is an example of the code I use:[code]I was told that this is a very old method of accessing databases, which doesn't surprise me since it's the same basic code I was using back in VB6 about 8 years ago.
View 39 RepliesI installed Visual Studio 2008 and Office Enterprise 2007 in my new computer.I made some codes for a data reader to get data from an Access dabase. On the step where it will open the connection an exception appeared which says "Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0 provider is not registered on the local machine".
View 7 RepliesI've just started learning Visual Basic 2008 and I am stuck with accessing a database through VB, I am using the Data Source Configuration Wizard. Everything goes fine until I start debugging, there is no information in any of the fields. However if I use a different computer in the house I can look at different records.

I have a program I've been working on for some time now and I'd like to try to streamline it somewhat. I have a main menu form that has a split panel, in the left panel is a treeview that displays forms you can open and when one is selected, it opens in a child window in the right panel. Each time I open form I called DWNForm, it does a series of dataset loads which are the populating items for a series of listviews.
What I would like to do is have these datasets load once during the mainMenu load and then have the DWNForm be able to access the datasets once it is called from the treeview selection.
I have an issue with am access database source located on a remote computer.I tried using ADODB to access it, it works, but when I change( update insert or delete) the database on the remote computer, the changes is not reflected in my application

View 3 RepliesI have been using an Access Database with no problems, using a form (with a sub-form) to input all of the data. Recently the data on the sub-form is not saving to the tables/reports. I enter the data, save and close the form and re-open the record and it is not there. Previously I have been able to save all data using the form and have not altered the form.
View 3 RepliesI'm new but will most certainly be hanging around and maybe even answer some posts in other sections. I have the following issue: I have a vb.net web page that places data into an access database. If I leave one of the fieldS blank, (even though Access has a default value of '0' instead of null) when I click to view the results in another page, the page fails with an error.
"System.InvalidOperationException: The provider could not determine the String value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the String column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new String value. etc etc" IF I put any figure in the blank field, even if it's 0, the page functions and works. Baffling. So, the data input page really needs to check, 'if nothing has been entered, automatically append the database with 0. Here's some of the page code: (Standard Record Insertion Wizard within DW cs3, plus Validation)

I have an array of variables called VolumeArray(12) which is declared as publlic shared in the main form1.I have a second form2 which allows the user to input various values. When this form2 is closed, I need the data the user has entered to update the values for VolumeArray(12) within Form1.

View 9 RepliesI have made a front-end application in Visual Basic .NET that will store data entered by the user in a backend Access 2003 Database. The application has other functionality as well.If the user searchs for a previous record that has been stored in the Access Database, I query the Database (SELECT ... ) using an OLEDB Connection and then display the records on a Datagrid on my Form. Everything is working fine, however, the Column Headings of the Datagrid are the Field Names in my Database (FirstName, LastName,...) rather than Caption Values (First Name, Last Name,... )
I tried looking up the net, but most of the topics addressing a similar problems use DAO, and I understand that it is not completely supported in VB .NET. I am fairly new to VB .NET and I am not quite sure how to address the problem or where I am going wrong. I tried using FirstName.Caption but that gives a Runtime error (One or more parameters missing from the Sentence)

I have two tables in one to many relationship in an access 2003 database.I am using vb6 and visual studio 2008.I want a data entry form (in grid view) for child table. I want to display & add, Update, delete child records accordingly with parent.
i.e. What I require is One combo box displaying a parent field and corresponding child entries will be shown in grid view. Data entry form for parent table may be on separate form.Is there a full sample source code for above mentioned theme.
I have a program in which I want to have the user enter two percentages and display the data matching the criteria on a new form. The query would be:
Select *
From Corrosion
Where corrpct1 >= {column in database} OR
corrpct2 >= {column in database}
The way I currently have it written is to display only one row of data. I need to display any number of rows that meet this criteria. My current code is:
Private Sub btnDetails_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDetails.Click
Dim form As New frmDetails()
Me.Hide()

1. How can I do my query to incorporate the user entered criteria (in the where statement)?
2. How can I display ALL of the data instead of just one line?
i have a access database with two tables, one for customer and one for booking.
I then have a form application i made in VS 2008 which lets a user enter details such as their name phone number ect into text boxes.
All of the information the person enters thoughout the program is shown via labels at the end, all on one form.
Would it be possible to then have a button that when clicked saves all of this information into the access tables into the correct columns, im sure it must be possible i just don't really know where to start.
i have a basic form in vb using .net framework 3.5,when the save button is clicked, it should update the data from the form to the access 2007 database,however, the whole thing runs up to the point in bold,

In my application, I have a data bound form using a binding control (built by the wizard). The application has one primary data screen plus a few more on tabcontrol subscreens.Picture for example that the tabcontrol has two tabs, tab1 and tab2.When the form is displayed, tab1 is visible.Now picture the form or window split in half the top part of the form has a few textbox controls bound to the data and there are a few textbox controls in the lower half of the screen on tab1 of tabcontrol1.There are a few textbox controls on tab2 as well.When the form displays, I can access any of the .text properties of any of the textbox's that I can see on the form and in tab1 of the tabcontrol.BEFORE tab2 is chosen or even, I need to get some of the data from the .text property on a textbox control that is on tab2.I have tried to get the data but as far as VB is concerned, it does not appear to be there UNTIL tab2 is displayed.
To prove this, I put a command button on the form and it simply does this: MSGBOX (mytext box33. text)mytextbox33 is a databound control on tab2 of the tabcontrol1.tab2 is not in focus and apparently, neither is the data.how can I read the .text property of a textbox that is on a form but the form (or tab) is not in focus?
