Creating A Button To Add Data From Textfields On Form In Access Db
Jun 5, 2011
I am creating a small program which has a few texboxes which i want to saved in a access database. My problem is i have no clue what code belongs to such button.I have added the database to my datasources, and linked the fields from the database to the textboxes. But thats all i got so far,.Being searching around the net for a few days to figure this out, but no luck.in my access db i got the fields firstname, surename, address1, address2, postcode, phone, email. Each are linked to their matching textbox on the form.
In an application with multitab on a user Form after collecting some information I will plug it into an access database and collect data and disply it with another "Second" User form.On the second user form I make a selection from 1-10 selection on the second user form, and again I will read the access database using the selected data by the user and would like to plug in to the First user form and close second user form.Somehow my textfield is not accessible and I get the yellow tip of "PLName is not member of 'Windows.System.Forms.Form'"[code]
What I want to do is gather the data that displays in my listview (called 'lstData') when selected and populate my textfields with it's information.[code]
I am doing a project on Login form using vb.net with the database of MS Access. But the problem is I am not good on creating the form. I wanted to create a login form using the vb.net code..
I have started learning a bit about programming. "Create a new project, and add two text boxes and a button to the form. Write code that, when a button is clicked, places the text in the first text box into the second text box. Hint: Use the Text property of the TextBox controls." Now I am trying to look at it logically do I put the same text in both textbox properties and write code that says if it is visible in one it cant be in the other or declare the text in the code, either way I am a bit stumped, but feel if a stick with it it will click and i will be writing my own code in no time.
I am currently developing a small capture system program. What I intend to do is to create a hot key for my program to capture image (press F8 then it will invoke a button to click automatically). What I manage to do for the time being is only registerHotkey procedure. (Please refer to the coding below). I am unable to create a hot key which perform like a button click.
This is just a testing program: I have 2 forms specifically. Form1 with a button and form2 with a picture box.
I would like to run this program where I can just simply click F8(for instance) instead of clicking the button.
For the time being I am able to run this program and put it in the system tray when I minimize/closed it. When I click F9 the program will pop up again. What I would like to do now, is clicking F8 (for instance and the program able to click a button from form 1 automatically). I had used PerformClick but still unable to do so.

I'm creating my Data Access Layer and I want to return my object but not all the fields so this is the code i'm using
CODE:
I then call this method in the Business Logic Layer
CODE:
lastly I try to call in in my user interface and bind it to a DataGridView
CODE:
But I keep getting this error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Linq.DataQuery`1[VB$AnonymousType_0`3[System.String,System.String,System.String]]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[PP_DAL.DCProposal]'.
I designed a form from dragging across tables from data sources. All in all, bindingsources, tableadapters, dataset & tableadaptermanager, I have about 40 objects in the component designer tray.I found out that on a few occasions, Im not able to view the form design because of corruption or something. Sometimes, I even lost a bindingsource object or even a dataset object which caused errors. Has anyone come across such incidents? Is it advisable to have too many objects in the component designer tray?
Visual Basic Project - Student Check In Form using an Access database backend This form needs to draw information from an Access database containg tables for STUDENT, INSTRUCTOR, and SECTION. These all need to have primary keys and ids. When (the user) clicks on the drop down box that displays all the sections:
{Table Tennis 1, Table Tennis 2, Table Tennis 3, Billiards 1, Billiards 2, Billiards 3}This should populate the listbox or datagrid from the STUDENT table with the Students that have the same SECTIONID as the SECTION selected in the drop down menu above.
After the Student list has been populated (the user) clicks on a student name in the listbox/datagrid and this inserts that student into the CHECKEDIN table that has a datagrid/listbox associated with it.
This is a great project to practice connecting a database to Visual Studio 2008 .net and playing with the data that has been pulled in. You could use SQL instead of Access.
Public Function AddNewButton() As System.Windows.Forms.Button ' Create a new instance of the Button class. Dim aButton As New System.Windows.Forms.Button()
I need the code to be able to send info from a textbox to an access database. I understand I have to use Ado but I cant put the code together. so lets say my textboxes are called textbox1 & textbox2 my database is located and called c:htw.mdb, my table is called table1 and the 2 columns are named test1 & test2. I want to be able to send the data to access when clicking on a button?
I'm using: [URL]. I already have the listener up and running. For the 'client' I'd like to change it to a 'form' program with a text field so i can enter one line of text and then a send button. I know how to drag the field and button over to a form but I'm not sure how to tell the program to use them?
I am new to visual basic and wondering on how to assign an access key to the close button in my form. It is in VB2010 and wanted to have an access key like x on the keyboard.
I am doing project now.i am a beginner for vb.net. I display data from ms access database to datagridview. Now i want add Button in Datagridview in one coloumn and when i click the button it will display the particular record and i want to display the diagram for that data. I am using filter.but it doesn't work.my code is
I have an .aspx page. In this grid I'm adding a bunch of controls. The first control however is an ExtObject, not one of our preset VB.NET controls. When I go to access the value on the backend for this field with this code: form.AndOr.getValue() It doesn't work. Basically, the radio button value isn't saving when I save the rest of the stuff. So I tried to add code to do it. It was just defaulted to 'And' each time. Below is a snippet of code from the actual asp.net grid.
I am writing a program to access the remote file data using FTP on button click event. Set breakpoint in the fist line of button click event. That program is using windows application vb.net 2008. If I run the application, when I click the button, it does not fire a click event of the button.
Here's my code: Dim reqFTP As FtpWebRequest Dim filepath As String Dim filename As String Dim filename1 As String Dim ftpserverip As String [Code] ..... During run time when I click the button the control not entered to an click event.
I have an application where a user is entering data into textfields using vb.net and then it is saving to excel. The textfields only accept numbers and do not allow the user to proceed unless all textfields have been filled out. If for some reason the user cannot enter in data (machine being broken etc...) is there a way that a messgagebox with a textfield can pop up allowing them to enter the reason that they couldn't enter a reading and then get saved to a textfile or sent as an email.
I made a UserControl with a button on it. I then added that UC to a form by dragging from the toolbox. Now I want to be able to access the click event of the button on that UC control in the form code. How do I do that?
I am a bit stuck with coding my save button and combobox. My entire form is ready, database is linked. All fields from DB are linked to their textboxes on the form. But i just ran into a big wall which i cant seem to break down.My save button, which is used to save the content from all the textboxes on the form to the access database refuses to work. The other this is, i want to use a combobox on my form to view the already saved entries in the access database.I think a combobox works for that, but i am not exactly sure how to pull that one off.
I am working on a project. Part of my project requires me to capture data, for example, email address, from certain rows/columns of a datagridview(form2.vb) and displays them in a textbox on another windows form(form1.vb) with a click of a button(Add Contact button). The problem is the datagridview on my form must be able to display databases by making a connection to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 but so far, i have not been able to do that. I have seen many codes with regards to my problem but i do not know how to implement it.
Below are my codes that i have written so far. My program's limitations are not being able to display databases from Microsoft SQL Server 2005 so i created the statement below to add columns and test my codes.
I made a UpdateCommand for my dataadapter in my MySQL connection. [code]Is there a way to link these up parameters to variables or textfields? Cause I want the value from a textbox to be the value of tabText.
It appears to me to be right but always returns true.
vb Private Function ValidateAllFieldsAreNotEmpty() As Boolean Dim groupboxes = Me.Controls.OfType(Of GroupBox)() Dim textboxes = groupboxes.SelectMany(Function(groupbox)
When I drag a dataset onto a form (as details), is there a way in which the textFields maxLength property is automatically set with the width within the actual table. Or do i have to select each textBox and enter it manually?
I have been using an Access Database with no problems, using a form (with a sub-form) to input all of the data. Recently the data on the sub-form is not saving to the tables/reports. I enter the data, save and close the form and re-open the record and it is not there. Previously I have been able to save all data using the form and have not altered the form.
I'm new but will most certainly be hanging around and maybe even answer some posts in other sections. I have the following issue: I have a vb.net web page that places data into an access database. If I leave one of the fieldS blank, (even though Access has a default value of '0' instead of null) when I click to view the results in another page, the page fails with an error.
"System.InvalidOperationException: The provider could not determine the String value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the String column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new String value. etc etc" IF I put any figure in the blank field, even if it's 0, the page functions and works. Baffling. So, the data input page really needs to check, 'if nothing has been entered, automatically append the database with 0. Here's some of the page code: (Standard Record Insertion Wizard within DW cs3, plus Validation)
