View 2 RepliesI am using VB.Net (.Net 4) and Outlook 2007 (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook) to send mass emails to clients on a monthly basis and the text is pre-defined into a HTML file which is parsed.Since there are chances of errors, we are putting it as outlook templates. But we need to put some special tags in the body, for which I want to put a button in the main ribbon of the "MailItem" object (see attached image).I have managed to put the buttons in the "add-ins" menu but I want it right there in the front area.
View 2 RepliesI am developing a COM Add-in using VB.NET in Visual Studio 2008 Pro for Outlook 2003 and am having trouble assigning images to custom toolbar buttons. In a nutshell, I am having to convert from an Icon type to a stdole.IPictureDisp type so that I can assign my buttons a picture. The picture displays, but it loses the Alpha channel and the background is no longer transparent. I can verify that before the conversion to IPictureDisp object, that the PixelFormat property is set to Format32bppArgb (2498570). I am using a coding technique suggested here:[URL]. For C# users, this link [URL] shows how to modify the IPictureDisp one pixel at a time and rebuild the transparency, but I can't find similar functions in VB.NET...

View 6 RepliesI created an add-in that creates a custom toolbar for MS Project. This appears as "Add-In" on a tab after "File" and under the Add-In tab is a custom toolbar. The toolbar that has 9 items, each runs a specific macro. This works great using the mouse. The problem now is that I must make it usable to a blind person who cannot use a mouse. How do I position to the first menu item (without mouse) when opened and use the TabKey to move thru the 9 items and allow selection by hitting Enter.
View 16 RepliesI have a project with 150 (i counted) Items in the "MainProject Components" area of the toolbox panel. These 150 classes are mostly database related objects like table adapters, and datasets that i hardly ever use. I also have about 10 custom classes that i use often. When i need to access the toolbox, I have two issues that i would like to resolve.
1.How do i organize the toolbox to separate my custom controls from the table adapters and datasets?
a.I have created a custom tab within the toolbox.
b.I have dragged and dropped my controls into this new area.
c.All is well until I exit my program and re-open it. Voila they're all back in the MainProject Components" tab.
2.How do I force the IDE to instantiate the toolbox panel as completely collapsed?
I want to create a toolbar button, which controls toolbar is on MDIForm and I make a function in the Module. My code like this:
VB.NET
Sub AddToolbarButtons()

I'm on page 243 of "Sam's Teach Yourself Visual Basic 2008" and it says: * Display the ViewerForm form in the Form Designer * Double-click on the Draw Border button on the toolbar. Only -- I don't see a Draw Border button on the toolbar.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to print the contents of a listview to paper from a toolbar button. In the code below I can get the printer to function and print but cannot get the listview contents to print. I found an old post by Martyr discussing printing listview contents in debugger that was helpful but have not been able to figure out what part of the code to modify for the print sub to recognize the listview contents in the handler. This is what I have so far:
Private Sub PrintToolStripButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PrintToolStripButton.Click
Dim prn As New Printing.PrintDocument
[Code].....
The printer portion of the code that runs on the strip button works without any problems. If I use that button click code above and add something to the PrintHandler Sub like this:
args.Graphics.DrawString("Hello World With A Printer", New Font("Arial", 20, FontStyle.Bold), Brushes.Black, 150, 125)
It prints the "Hello World String" with no problem. The issue is I am not sure what or how to refer to the contents of the listview in the Print Handler Sub or if this is even the correct way to attempt this.
I have been learning VB2008 and have been working a little with the toolstrip. While this question isn't really urgent, I've been thinking down the road about images and image libraries that I would like to build and use in my programs. I am thinking I should set up my own library so that all programs I write will have the same look (at least as often as I want them to).
1) What does everyone use to create images? What programs, features, etc. are important? Eg. I have MSPaint and and old version of CorelDraw but have never really used them to high quality stuff.
2) Are people just using the images provided in VB2008 Pro?
3) What should I consider when working with images for use in Windows Forms programming? Currently I am not doing any web work.
Using the following code btn2 looks different to btn1 and btn3 yet they are using exactly the same image.
Public Class MyToolBar
Inherits ToolBar
Public Sub New()

I'm trying to make a thumbnail toolbar button (TTB from now on)visible when the it is clicked. I know how to do stuff when it is clicked, AddHandler etc. But if I tell it TTB.visible=false then it doesn't become invisible. If I put TTB.enabled = False it will be disabled, so it's only the visible that isn't working.
Also I put a button on my form (not a TTB) and when that is click wrote, TTB.visible = false and that didn't work, so there is no way to make it invisible.
I have a problem with a Save button on a toolbar firing the click event twice if the user double clicks the button as opposed to single clicking.Disabling the double click on the toolbar itself seems to make no difference as it is the actual save button that is being clicked twice.I have tried setting a Boolean to stop the event firing twice but it is just too quick!I didn't have this problem with my code before as the server call was not async... and reverting back is not really an option.
My code is as follows:
Protected Sub tlbOrdQuot_ButonClick(ByVal sender
As Object,
ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ToolBarButtonClickEventArgs)
Handles tlbOrdQuot.ButtonClick

I'm using Outlook 2000 and I'm trying to access data held on a customised Outlook task form held in a public folder.I'm using the following code to get at what I need, and can see certain values via objTask, but I can't see where I get at other 'fields' used on the form. One of the fields, for example, is called "CC Ref", but I can't find where I can get at it.

I have created a custom control that has a few labels and a button on it. In my main program i dyanmically add this control to a stackpanel. When i add the control i add a few events for it by doing th e following:
Dim newqueue As New UserControl1
AddHandler newqueue.MouseDoubleClick, AddressOf PrintMessage
How would i go about adding an event for the button.click for the button in the custom control?
I have been working on an application that has a built in contact database.I would like to be able to syncronize this with Outlook.
Specifically:
1)Bring Contacts in Custom App over to Outlook
2)Keep info on those contacts syncronized in Outlook and Custom App
3)Ignore contacts that are in Outlook but not in Custom App(ie do NOT bring them into custom App)
So I've got this context menu working out except that the event behind the actual selection of the menu item seems to fire multiple times. First time I click it, it fires once, then twice, then 3 times. So, in the example I just gave, for 3 clicks it would have fired a total of 6 times (1 + 2 + 3). Why is that?
Below is my code on how I'm creating the menu items. I stripped it down to the relevant pieces; I omitted things like .Tag, .Visible, and .Caption properties. I'm building this using .NET 3.5 and VS 2008.

I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.
I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.

I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

Can we read Outlook Express and MS OutLook Emails using our vb.net code?
View 3 RepliesWhat I would like to do is create a command button that launches an email from outlook attaching the current word document to a set email address. I'm not fussed if the word document is saved or not as it is only the email receipent that needs it, likewise I don't mind if the code instructs the email to send of just opens it ready to be sent.I have read through loads of forums and tried loads of codes but cannot get any to work.
