Trying to set a Combo Box RowSource to a field in a table that contains the choices separated by semi colons. Have tried both a query and a DLookup but it results in displaying the full contents of the table field, e.g. "10;12;14;16" rather than giving me the usual selection list

I have been setting DataSource for a series of combo boxes to the same table as they all display the same options. However, when I ran the project, any change in any one combo box makes all the others 'flip' to the same selected value. This is obviously wrong.
In Access, you have 'Control Source' which is the db field that is bound to the combo box and 'Row Source' can be a query or whatnot that several combo boxes can run 'independently'.Is there an equivalent option in VB.NET? I DO NOT want to manually enter the exact same options many times as that is hard to maintain, to say the least.
Just to repeat: it is not going to work to say DataSource = Row Source. if two combo boxes are set to the same data source, a selection in one automatically makes the other one select the same value. unless, of course, i am missing something.
I am trying to create a combo box the fill with the list of names from an Access Database Column, and I have read numerous forums trying to discern what to do but the stumbling block is when I try to copy their code, changing variable names to mine, etc I hit stumbling block when they ask for things like New SqlCommand(sSQL, myConnection) and my VB IDE doesnt come up recognising the sqlcommand when I start typing it in when it tries to autocomplete what I am typing. I am writing a school project in VB2005 and am trying to hook up a second combo box that gets its information of what to display from the first combo box. My application is where a student takes a "test" but they can choose what instructor they want in the first combo box. From there, they choose from a test of what each instructor offers in the second combo box. As of right now, my first combo box works great and my second combo box has nothing in it. Just a note, when I debug, it shows my iUserID value as 0.

The problem is that when I try to set the property like this: myClass.Language = "English" The property is set to "English" and not to "<![CDATA[English]]>" which is what I want. What is the reason for that and how can I fix it? When placing a break point on End Set and use the Watch window to inspect the value of _Language after setting the property to "English" it remains "English" and doesn't change.
I have a combo box and a property grid in a form. The combo box contains 2 items. If one item is selected, two properties are listed in the property grid. These properties should have a dropdown that contains a list of items. I have two string arrays that contain the values for these properties. Can I use one TypeConverter that inherits StringConverter for these lists to be displayed in two different properties? That is, with one TypeConverter class, can I populate both the lists? I will also have to do the same with the other items in the combo box.

I am converting a 1.1 .NET web app to 3.5, and I've run into a bit of a jam.
One web control has a Property that sets the page title label on that web control.

When a page with the web control was loaded before, it would set the Property to a given string, like in ucHeader.PageTitle = "This is a string." Now, if I don't remove the lblPageTitle.Text = Value, I get a NullReference Exception.
I'm new to classes. In my Who wants to be a Millionaire application, I have a Lifeline class and I create three instances of it - FF, PAF and ATA (50/50, Phone a Friend and Ask the Audience). Something I do with a lifeline is put a cross over its logo, hence the need for a centrepoint property, which marks the centre of the cross on a form.

What happens is that at the "Call Form2.DrawCross(Form2.CentrePoint)" line, the tooltip shows that the FF object's centrepoint property isn't set (as I thought it would be by " FF.CentrePoint = tmpPoint").
I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?
View 1 RepliesI have a vb2008 combo box with the DropDownStyle property set to DropDownList.Now, when I set the text property to something programatically nothing happens. That is, the "something" doesn't show up on the control with list collapsed. It still doesn't show even if I force an update(If DropDownStyle property is set to DropDown, setting the text property programatically works fine, even without forcing an update).

I want to give the user the ability to change backcolor properties on my NumbericUpDown property. So when I read in the Config.txt file the end user can change coloring on the General Form. I am creating a customised version of the ListView control and there are several of the properties that a ListView has that I would like to be set to a different value to the ListView default when a user goes to use my user control.
From what I've found there seems to be a number of people suggesting just set them in the constructor, but to the best of my knowledge that would just mean that the user would not be able to change the properties in the PropertyGrid in the VS IDE.I assume this is probably something extremely simple that I have overlooked.

View 3 RepliesVS 2008, vb.net, Win7 development machine. I've developed a Windows application with several different forms, and am using the My.Settings feature. This is the first time that I have used this feature. For each form, I have set the form's property binding 'location' property to an entry in 'settings' of My Project settings page of the VS 2008 development environment. The settings are set to user scope.
1.) Do I need to add any code to my application to make the settings work, or is it sufficient that I have the "Save My.Settings on shutdown" set to true?
2.) When I create my setup to install the application, what settings file (app.config?) do I install to the user's machine, and what folder should it be installed to?
