I'm trying to search a folder and it's sub folders for a file and add those files to a datagridview. I think the code I have is right but I need to get some of the files info, like the name and what not. since I've tweaked it it doesn't work.

I have a SQL Server table with a list of files (path + filename), and a folder with multiple layers and files in each layer. I'm looking for a way to reconcile the two without having to process the list twice. Currently, I'm doing this:

If f.Exists is False, mark it as deleted in the database

Is there a better way to do this? I'd like to avoid converting all the matching files (of which most will be) to FileInfo objects twice. Since I'm a T-SQL developer first, I'm picturing something like an OUTER JOIN of the two lists where they don't match. Something LINQ-ish?

I have a program that copies files listed in an excel file and adds two columns together to rename the file when it is copied. This all works perfect. What I am having difficulty with is when the files are copied and renamed - I can't get it to find files in subfolders and copy them also. I have a text file that is created letting me know what files were not copied and the subfolder files are always on there?

now what this does is load the files w/out the file path or extensions , but, it loads the files in the subfolders as well . i just need the desktop files to load in the listbox, not the subfolder files

I'd like it to copy only the files that's changed since the last backup, and it'd be nice if I could right-click on a folder (which i can easily google this one, it's a common thing) and select my program and it'd pop up a window to get the destination (since the source is known from the windows context menu) and only copy (overwriting the existing files/folders) that've changed since the last backup.
VB.net 2008 express This is what I have so far, and it loads a list of files from a text file. Now I need to be able to delete them all from a certain drive and all sub folders in it. For instance I push the delete button and it goes through the entire list and deletes all the files in it from the designated drive and all it's sub folders.

But i can't seem to handle the "UnauthorizedAccessException" which i get from certain read only files or folders. I tried to use both the DirectoryInfo.GetDirectories() and DirectoryInfo.GetFiles() methods. as you can see from the code below. I have a bunch of images loaded in as resources then i added a mediaplayer.resx file so i could keep the images separate... only now i have just discovered it doesnt? It still puts all images together, so i cant add multiple images with the same name? (needs to be the same name - its a filename)

I have developed a VB.NET application that generates code in a specific format. It has a multitude of features and everything works great. I recently added the ability to save generated code to a text file as well as the ability to load those text files into the application. I am looking to add one last feature (perk). I want to include a bunch of pre-coded text files with the application, that new users can load and use immediately. As of right now I have the application creating the directory they will go in, but can't find anything on how to include the text files and have them placed in that directory. This application uses one-click deployment (in case that matters).

change the installation folder to program files instead of application files . I think i need to use the setup and deployment and add a new project using "visual studio installer" .This as far as i have got i can not seem to create a setup (the one i built just hangs)
