Data TreeView - Adding All Files And Folders?
Apr 15, 2009This is somewhat of a multi part question, let me start off by explaining what I'm trying to do. I have an organized folder system with data files in them. Each folder has a set structure to their naming, and can contain sub folders and files. It will be a jagged directory system. I'm trying to import their structure into a TreeView. I have the workings of a recursive system that adds all files and folders into a ViewTree, however they aren't organized by parent/child.
So I get this...
-C:Temp
-C:TempData
-C:Tempfile1.txt
-C:Tempfile2.txt
-C:TempDatafile3.txt
-C:TempDatafile4.txt
etc........
How would I go about parsing the directory paths, and include them into a parent/child relationship... looking like this
+Temp
--file1.txt
--file2.txt
-+Data
---file3.txt
---file4.txt
Also I when the line item is selected, I need to know which file is selected so I can use it's full path to call up data (using an API) based upon the it's full root path.
Adding Folders And Files In App?
Mar 6, 2009I have a bunch of images loaded in as resources then i added a mediaplayer.resx file so i could keep the images separate... only now i have just discovered it doesnt? It still puts all images together, so i cant add multiple images with the same name? (needs to be the same name - its a filename)
how to add folders and images right into the project explorer.How do I then reference the images? are they just like files? so it would be app pathfolderimage.png ? WIll it add to the distibution like this?

Dec 17, 2011I have developed a VB.NET application that generates code in a specific format. It has a multitude of features and everything works great. I recently added the ability to save generated code to a text file as well as the ability to load those text files into the application. I am looking to add one last feature (perk). I want to include a bunch of pre-coded text files with the application, that new users can load and use immediately. As of right now I have the application creating the directory they will go in, but can't find anything on how to include the text files and have them placed in that directory. This application uses one-click deployment (in case that matters).

If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB

Currently if I combine two .csv files together the output comes out correctly for what I need, which is a coma delimited file. When I try to combine two .csv files into a .xls file it doesn't format correctly (I get all the data separated by commas, but thrown into one column in the .xls file). For this reason I believe I need to add a delimiter.I'll post my code below.

Mar 12, 2011Several times av been come across of the need of how to create new variables on my application while is running and the next time i will run again the application to be existed in my source code and still be inside.
what excatly i mean is for example i have a listbox with out assigne it in any databound ,or retreive any items from any textbox i just want to insert some items inside
if i go from the designer then i can succesfully add any item i want and they will be there as i declare them.but if i want to to that programmatically i will be able to add them in the listbox but the next time i will run it again it will be lost.until i will select the command again to fill my listbox which is not what i want
in my case i have a datagridview which is running SQL querys and i want if the user selects to save this query i want from some way to save this query string in my listbox . and i want to be there the next time i will run my application with out using any text file or database,
is there any way to that ? i have search before i ask but obviusly my keywords dosen't much with what i was looking for

Apr 18, 2009I have a datagridview on form1 but I don't want users adding data using datagridview, instead, I wanna use details view. So I created a form2, dragged and dropped details view on form2. I changed the Addnew on BindingNavigator to None and added a code to the Addnew click event handler to call the form2 out so that I could add data from there. But, when form2 loaded. the textboxes pulled out all the information from datagridview. I did not want that, I wanted all the textboxes to appear empty when it was loaded. so I deleted all the textboxes and added my own textboxes so that they appeared empty when form2 was loaded.

Oct 27, 2010What to use for adding multiple attachment to a email. I'm using VB 2010.
First, I have a Form in my company web site to fill a reclamation ..... when you fill and send it, it convert the form into a PDF, save it in the client side "TEMP" and finally get the PDF and send it to a email..... that's perfectly fine. I add to the form the capability of attach multiple files with file upload to the same "TEMP" and displayed in a Grid View to remove or add files and send everything to a email, the attachment capability is working. Everything is working with the PDF not the files(attachments).
There is a way to get the multiple files from the "TEMP" folder and add it to some dynamically variable (array list, attachment collection, list collection, etc.) so all can be send to the email. I already know the way to put it into the email with the PDF.
The problem is to get the files and add it to the dynamic variable and that it work with the email. If the code is need it.

I can figure out how to load the present file, populate the fields, and save save settings using elements that are already present, but I can't seem to figure out how to add to an XML file without clearing the data which is already there?
