Adding A Folder To A Setup Project And All Of Its Contents, Including Sub-folders?
Jan 14, 2010
I want to be able to add a folder (and inturn, all of it's contents including subfolders) to a setup project. I can manually add a folder, then manually add all of the files for that folder; but this is a NetHelp folder with lots of subfolders and files.
Is there a way to tell the setup to add everything in a folder to the setup files to be distributed??
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Setup project. I need to copy one folder and the sub folders into the program files but when I tried to copy or add the folder to "Application Folder" in File System editor, I am able to add only files and not folders.
I have created a windows exe project called MyCalculator,I have added setup deployment project.I have also added a class project and added a class called Sqlclass, code in this class is stated below
Public Class Sqlclass Public Sub New() Dim myProcess As New Process Dim SqlArguments As String
where to call the above class in deployment project so sql server installed automatically using the above parameter.check the above weather it is correct. After installation will the folder sqlexpress2005 remains?
Have built a project and associated it with a Setup&Deployment Project. The S&D project needs to contain 2 main folders (under User's Desktop) with various formats of files (xmls, txts, dlls) inside them and several subfolders. How can i copy/import these 2 folders and there sub-files/folders into my s&d project?
When adding them in the usual way, they are copied and defined a source path onto the current pc. You can understand what errors this might create when an another targeted pc does not contain those files to the exact location. Is there any way to copy them locally or somehow import them?
i am creating an app that will display the contents of a folder containing hundreds of other folders. these folders are in the following format <Movie.Name>[<Year>]i am trying to create a function that will filter out the years i.e. if i wish to search for movies from 2009 i could use the code 'FilterMovies("2009")' etc... and remove/hide the others.
I want to create personal folders during installation. I did the following steps:
Right click on your setup project -> View -> File System Right click on node "File system on
[Code]....
I know the above steps are correct and should work because i did it in the other application (solution) and worked fine. When i did same exact steps (of course i changed the folder name to be created), the application gets deployed but when i install, i don't get the Personal Folder under Documents? I wonder why did it work with my first solution and didn't work with the current one!
I include a javascript include folder in the root directory of my setup project in the Application Folder. I tried to move the javascript include file under the Javascript folder and I now get:
[Code]...
I can delete the the directory and then add the files one by one but their are over 200 files in that include directory. Is their an easy way to move a folder in the application folder of the file system view of a setup program?
Under VB.Net 2005, I created a Setup Project which produced installation files for a windows application. I placed the mdb file in the User's Application Data Folder and remapped the DataDirectory to Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData at runtime. Unfortunately, sometimes the system just did create the mdb file at the Application Directory.
An example was that I installed the program in Windows 7 under a normal user account. I chose inside the installer that the program would be made available to everyone. After installation, the mdb file would be created automatically for the Administrator account but not for the normal user account. For XP, the whole thing worked fine. I am tempted to write a routine to check and create the mdb file if it is not present, but why does this happens and what other opinions do I have?
Is it possible that I could include .NetFramework installation in my setup so when user runs setup, all dependencies including .net framework are installed with that setup?
Is there a bootstrap program we can download somewhere to bring in the framework 2.0 on machines where we are installing a vb.net 2005 app using the setup deployment project as was done with .net 2003 and framework 1.1?

When I run my compiled project, it creates a start menu folder and desktop icon. But there's nothing in the Program Files of my OS. Is it because my project is still small- or something else? Shouldn't it create a folder in the Program Files?Speaking of creating a folder- I need to create a folder on my C drive when the program is installed, and inside the folder an Excel spreadsheet needs to be deposited (C:DailyLogsDailyLog.xlsx).
I follow a "new" book called "Programming Using Visual Basic 2008 7. edition" by David. L. Schneider.
But when I was creating a file called " PAYROLL.TXT " it didnt show up in the debug folder as it should. How do I get the file automatic located in the debug folder?
If first question is answered:Second question - is it the same way to include other files?
