View 1 RepliesI have a combo box with a list of Coordinator IDs, one Coordinator can run many subjects. On another form I have a list box that contains a list of the subjects, and another list box that has the coordinator that teaches the subject. The positions match up, i.e if there is a match for the co-ordinator ID in the list box at position 3, I want to extract the subject list box at position 3 also. The problem is 1 coordinator can teach more than 1 subject. Basically I want to show the subjects taught by the Coordinator the user selects in the combo box. I have tried the following but have had no luck:

I've been pondering upon my idea on how to create/update a text file using each item in a listbox as lines, but I fail each time. I've searched this forum as well as my friend, Google. Still nothing.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to create a single listitem that has multiple lines. When I create a newline using "System.Environment.NewLine" I get an empty box rather than the text going down the next line.
How can I get this to work? Currently my listitem is a custom structure. Do I need to change anything here so I can have multiple lines? Perhaps its a limitation of the listbox?
Public Structure ListItem
Private displayText As String
Private itemValue As Integer

I have a combobox, a button and a listbox on my form. I have added some items in my combobox through the strings collection editor. What i,m tring to to in the button click event is i want to transfer on item at a time into my listbox at the moment it transfers only the first item into my listbox. [code]...
View 4 RepliesI have a form like that: What I need to do is when the user selects item1 from combobox a message will be displayed in listbox. My combobox has 11 items so I must have 11 appropiate messages to be stored automatically in listbox . (The message is appropriate of what item is selected from the combobox)
Here is the full code implemented :
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged
Dim msg1, msg2, msg3, msg4, msg5, msg6, msg7, msg8, msg9, msg10, msg11 As String
If ComboBox1.SelectedValue = "Item1" Then
msg1 = "Ati ales item1 din combobox"

How to write the .net code for vb6.setitemdata for combobox or listbox item?
View 10 RepliesOkay, so the title was horrible. I know that. Here's what I'm trying to do:I have a lot of data that's coming from a database and being adding to a listbox. The data that's coming from the database is a unique ID, and a name. Is there any way I can make the item contain both the ID and name? I know I can append it, that's not what I'm looking to do. I need a way to be able to either get the ID, or get the name, while displaying them both.I have gotten as far as creating a class:
Class Item
Property ID as Integer
Property Name as String
[code]......
For Each item As Object In ListBox1.Items
If item.ToString.Contains("http://" Or "www." Or ".com" Or ".net" Or ".org" Or ".biz") Then
I want it to check if item contaisn any of those, then it does something.
I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem, however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy. So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains? This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line. This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.
View 11 Replieshow to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.
example:
1-pauljaones
2-tommyperrry
3-marktoms
4-Jonessmith
5-paulwhite
Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.
In my application I have a listbox and SelectionMode should be MultiSimple because users need to see which items they selected. In another tab we have another listbox this one should show all the selection users had done in first tab. Private Sub

I have used the command:
For Each Proc as process in process.getprocesses
Combobox1.Items.Add(Proc.MainWindowTitle)
to populate a combo box with the list of current process windows, however for every process that doesnt have a main window title there is a blank space, is there a way that I could tell it to not insert the item if it's mainwindowtitle field is blank?
Just started on vb.net

View 5 RepliesI want to draw string in multiple lines and and I want to know how many lines given string will take. I am using following method.
[Code]...
my program downloads into a combobox every item(line) that is in a text file located on a server.
Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "g)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "a)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?
To download the entire list in the combobox I do:
Dim List As String = client.DownloadString("http://mywebsite.com/mytextfile.txt)Dim lines As String() = List.Split(New String() {ControlChars.CrLf}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)ComboBox1.Items.Clear()
ComboBox1.Items.AddRange(lines)
How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.
Here's my code:
I want to select the first option from the first listbox and I want to put it into another listbox along with the price of that item on the same line in the listbox. I can't seem to figure out how to that.
Public Class Form1
Const dcmPRICE_STRESS As Decimal = CDec(595.0)
Const dcmPRICE_TIME_MANAGMENT As Decimal = 695

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.
removing Listbox item from checked Listview item. The code I tried just errors out.
Private Sub ListView1_ItemCheck(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemCheck

ListBox1.Items.Add(Me.ListView1.Items(e.Index).Text)

Is it possible to select an item in one listbox and then display the data of another listbox with the same indexed position? I am planning a project and this is something I would like to attempt but I haven't figured out how to do it.[code..]
I tried doing the above code but instead of displaying the listbox text the message box just returned false.
problem that i am facing is i want to add array of object as a single item in listbox. in vb6 i was using this Label1.Caption = Label1.Caption & Mid$ (strInput, intI, 1) & " " List1.AddItem (Label1.Caption) i was using label. caption to store object but not work in vs2008 because label.text only take text and left other values

View 9 RepliesI have 2 listboxes on my form.Listbox 1 - populated with "available" field namesListbox 2 - populated with "selected" field names. There cannot be the same field name in both listboxes - it's either one of the other. The logic I was going to apply was to populate Listbox 1 with every field name ... and then as I populated Listbox with the field names which the user has already selected, remove the corresponding item from Listbox 1.
