Jan 5, 2012I have been searching for a solution to this but I can't find one. I have played with the anchor and dock properties but they are not doing what I want, so here goes... I would like to place and size all of my controls on my form and then when the form is re-sized during run time (different resolutions, full screen/windowed, etc), have everything just scale up or down accordingly. Anchoring the controls to all four sides of my form re-sizes the control properly but it doesn't move it's location in sync with the other control's size next to it, they begin to overlap each other. Am I going to have to code my own scaling code for each control in my program?

Oct 22, 2010I am using Visual Studio 2010 to build forms to access databases through DataGridViews.As these tables grow, it would be easier to resize the form to see the whole table.So I try to dock the DataGridView to the bottomand resize the form (The other controls are at the top of the form)This works for the width, but the height of the DataGridView does not adjust.

VS 2005 Custom Messagebox: Auto-resize Form To Accommodate Text?
Aug 20, 2009After using a form as a replacement for MessageBox I do have a need to make it automatically adjust its size to fit its contents, is there any rule out there that we need to abide to when it comes to sizing the form acting as MessageBox?
I am thinking I could use a panel that will auto-resize and just resize the form according to the size of the panel but I am not sure that will work as I haven't tried it yet.

Nov 20, 2011i need the code in vb.net for auto-resize of forms. for example i execute my project in a 14" monitor, the size of the form would be the same as the size of my monitor. now what i want to happen is if i execute my project on my other PC that has different resolution, the form would have the same size of it.

Apr 7, 2011I have a MDI form with different controls, two of they are multiline textboxes, and by default the form opens in normal state. Once opened, if I maximize the form all the controls location and size are as I wants (using the anchor property). And now comes the estrange error, if I have opened other form maximized, and then I open the first mentioned form, the multiline textboxes location is wrong, they are upper than the correct location.
Note 1: If I change multiline to false, all works fine.Note 2: The textboxes location is in the bottom of the form and the anchor is left, bottom and right.I try different possibilities and search information in the web without results.
Resize All Of The Buttons In Width When The Panel Is Resized
Dec 15, 2011I have a panel that has 8 buttons located on it each named But1,But2,ect. What I am trying to figure out how to do is resize all of the buttons in width when the panel is resized in width. [Code] Is there something simpler to do this as I will eventually have 3 panels with 8 buttons on each one that would need to be resized at the same time. In VB this was controlled by an index and a for next loop, but I see no way to create a control array for all the buttons when they are on separate panels.

May 25, 2012I am reading in information from a CSV file displaying them into a DataGrid table and then relabiling the column headings accrodingly. I am then takeing the column headings and creating buttons. I am having difficulty with getting the buttons to auto size in order to fit all of the text that is being displayed within the button. I am able to create the new buttons and display them where I want but they are either way to large for the text that has been placed in them or to small.

May 11, 2009I am trying to figure the best way to programmatically re-size table column headers in ReportViewer.Basically, my current resolution is the following: ColumnWidth = Header Caption_CharacterCount * 0.32...Where 0.32 is an estimated width of a typical character using my current font size.The issue is that the width leaves a lot of whitespace for longer captions.The more characters a caption has, the more whitespace I end up with.The issue with estimating this way is that not all characters are the same width. A good example would the the "I" character, which takes up less screen width than the rest of the alphabet.[code]

This is a stripped-to-the-basics version of part of my app. I want to generate a vertical, scrollable array of buttons which will allow me to select groups of photos. Each button will represent a group of one or more photos in a collection. The app will scan a folder and determine which groups are present, and which files are in each group. I create the buttons (with AutoSize), then determine the width of the widest button (at the same time, setting the button anchor property to make all buttons the same width. I then set the form to accomodate the width of the widest button.

Mar 3, 2010I've a multiform project, and one of the forms within it is a loginform created using one of the templates built in with Visual Studio. This form, when opened has no code in any of the open events, yet still manages to:
- put the cursor in the password field ready for text entry
- highlight the "OK" button
- press the "OK" button if the enter key is pressed.
How can I replicate this behaviour on other forms? I've copied the properties of the button to OK buttons on other forms but can never get them to behave in the same way.

Jan 8, 20111. Just looking for some general help on how to auto update my application via a file location path (e.g. I have a HTML file containing the current file version and the .exe file to download)
What I need is to read in the HTML file version - DONE Check file version vs HTML file stream input - DONE Replace current .exe file with new .exe file - HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS
I know I have to close the application and then replace the old exe file with the new exe file then restart the application but looking for the best/safest way this can be done
2. Basically what I want is during my Splash screen which runs for 5 seconds I want to check if a network drive is mapped.

Then I tried to split controls in to 2 form but now my form.showdialog() too now working properly. It takes new from names but show the old form when running.

I have a form that I need to set the Height and Top props, problem is that takes two calls and there is a noticable flicker. I tried using SuspendLayout/ResumeLayout, DoubleBuffered, swaping the top and height calls around, etc, but nothing seems to help. The test forms only have one small listview and one or two buttons.
