Automatically Filling A Column Of A Database?

What I'm working on is a video rental project in visual basic 2008. I have a local database which contains info on DVDs, Members and a table for current rentals.The columns i have in the current rentals table are:
MemberID | DVDID | DaysOnRent | DateRented | DueDate | Overdue | TotalPrice
I have this data displayed in a datagridview, but the user adds it through a seperate form (called add a rental) with a 'details' view of the table on it. I've written code to automatically determine the TotalPrice and DueDate of the DVD in the add a rental form.
The Problem:I don't know how to get the database to automatically detect when a DVD is overdue (when todays date is greater than the DueDate).I want it to check it in the column "Overdue" (which is boolean)..so basically what I'm asking is how do i update the overdue column automatically depending on whats in the DueDate?

I add several unbound columns to datagridview,i've succeeded to copy data from other datagridview to this unbound dgv and also got save database from unbound datagridview to database using tableadapter.insert worked .But i can't figure out how to display the data back into the datagridview with existing column..I've tried using this way :

I am entering data in a dataGridView, I have a column named with 6 characters.The first 3 characters are always "HHH"When I enter in this cell, Is there any way to put automatically these 3 characters and start to write in the fourth one?

DataGridView inserting an extra row every time I populate with data. The row appears even if I only fill the column headers. This is causing problems when I try to get values of each cell. Is there a way to avoid this perhaps in properties?

i have a combo box that i'm trying to fill from a database, managed to get it working through the wizard and the form view method but could do the next bit that way. I then started to try it the coded way, got the database linked but it only shows the first name in the database, how do i get it to show all the names in the database?

I have a dataset in my application that I fill using tableadapters like this:
Class Form1:
sub new()
Database = new Database
end sub
Class Database:
sub new()
tblLalalalaTableAdapter.Fill(DataSet.tblLalalala)
end sub
I am told it is too early to call the tableadapter.fill method inside the constructor. If the database is unavailable now, the application won't even start. It will just kinda crash. What is the proper way to do this? When should I call the tableadapter.fill methods?

I'm making an app on wpf.Basically, I have a list view with 6 columns,For each item of the listview, its details are displayed are displayed in each of the columns, except the first.Basically I want the listview to automatically display a count of the items for the 1st column.[code]I have sorting and other weird stuff happening in the app, and I want to keep the first column constant. All that is needed from the column is that it counts the items.[code]I just realised this isn't vb .net so to speak.I code only on vb .net, but having trouble with that xaml bit atm. Would rather not use vb codes for solving this particular matter if possible

I have a DataTable in a DataGridView, one of the columns has data that I want sorted. I can click on the column header to sort it and it's fine. The problem is that I don't want that column sorted automatically when some of the data changes in it. I want it sorted only when I click on the header.

Here i have code filling a drop down box with the company name.

This part works. The drop down menu is filled with all the company names. The following part does not work how ever.

There is no error thrown either. The information is just not showing up.

I am using a Class_SQL that gets the table, creates the DataAdapter and DataTable.I have a combobox named cboFullname. I can fill the combobox with data from the database, ie: Dim sqlcmdtext As String = "SELECT *, Firstname + ' ' + Surname AS Fullname From Contacts". I can display full records in a datagridview.
I would like to be able to select a name from the combobox and have the record text boxes display the data and be changed with the cbofullname index changed subroutine. Here is my current code to date:

I got a problem I need to search by First Name OR Surname. So the user can enter one or the other or BOTH.
So here's what I got I set two primary keys to try and find the row but I'm gettin all sorts of problems, for example when I set FirstName & Surname as primary key which you need to do to use the find method i get an error as it expects two values..

I am facing a strange situation. I am having a database inside my my Vb.net application and having various table in it. when I am saving data in my database, the data got saved in it but and every thing works very nicely but after some times means after 5 to 10 minutes the data gets deleted automatically from my database.

Using Visual Studio .NET 2008 or 2005, is there a way to automatically generate properties for each column in an SQL Server database table? I am assuming other code-generation software exists that will do this. I know with Visio I can connect to my database and it will generate diagrams by table, this would be similar to that.

Im wanting to pull some data from our Remedy Server every so often. Right now we're having to do it manually; Data > Import External Data or New Database Query. The connection is called AR System ODBC Connection Source. We have to log into the server and then it pulls the info into the sheet. Im needing even if have to setup a conection myself first to just have this conection run every couple or two and update the excel sheet. We're using excel 03, Remedy 7.

I am using a combobox in VB .net to show customer's name. They also can type new names if they wish. Can I somehow save these new names in my sql database dynamically?
What I mean is if the name is new and does not exist in my database, can it be automatically saved to the database?
My combobox is bound to my name table.

I was just wondering if this is possible. I have a site that admins use to add products to our database. The database is in SQL Server 2008 and I use Visual Studio 2010 using VB.net and was hoping that upon addition of a new product, it would automatically generate a folder assigned to that product's ID.I haven't found anything online that would suggest that this is a possibility, but it would make it a lot easier for me. As of right now, I have to remember to create a folder in the X: drive for each product that has been added. We are up to 645 products now,
