I have an application that is a COM Class invoked by a large third party app. This com class loads an assembly at the time it is loaded.and the assembly then calls a server resident windows app with screen. The assembly uses process.WaitForExit() to wait for user to close the windows app and then causes the com class to exit returning the notice to third party app that everything is complete.Everything works fine except when the user closes the windows app this server busy popup appears and he/she can hit retry and everything continues. How can I stop the popup. What is going on?

Basically what I want to do is, say after I've filled my datatable(whichever fill method i used[dataadapter.fill; or datatable.load(reader)]), now the datatable has the fields i've selected albeit, "Select * from" or "Select field1, field3 from" - either way the table now has my fields. Later incode when i'm ready to access them, say "dt.rows(x)(" OR "dt.rows(x)!", right here I would like intelisense to show me the available fields for that table. I'm trying to use the WebKit-component ([URL]) in VB with the help of Visual Studio 2008. This is running without problems, except for two following two issues:
1. Hints/Tooltips are not shown (e.g. as there usually will appear one if you stay with the mouse over the Google-logo)
2. If there's a popup-window, I don't know how to get the new desired URL.
I'm working with a Silverlight Popup control (SL4). I would like to update data shown on that popup every time the user opens it (IsOpen=true) by passing a string and calling a Private method located in the Popup control behind code to fetch updated data.
I was hoping to place code to make this happen in the Opened event of the Popup, but such an event does not seem to exist (even though I found some documentation on it).

I figured I'd use the quit option to set the bool to false that the thread will see then do the proper closeout. However, it doesn't seem to work. After banging my head against the code, hehe, I realized that the thread is hung waiting for a client on the "AcceptTcpClient()" line.. so it's never getting a chance to evaluate SystemRunning.Is that an accurate assumption of the problem? If so, how does one deal with it?Also, I surmised that I probably should put my "end" statement at the end of the thread to be closed rather than my quit sub. I was afraid the marker boolean for the thread would get set and then the quit sub would immediately trigger "end" before the thread had a chance to close out. Is that also correct, or doesn't it matter?
How can I access data that WebBroswer1.navigate function is downloading from a website, while it is downloading it? If I access it once it has finished downloading it through the WebBrowser1_DocumentCompleted function, it only slows down my program, since it has to wait for the website to finish downloading to the control before I can access it.
I wrote a fax program that is using Microsoft FaxServer and FaxDocument on a windows 7 machine. I want to be able to check if the modem that the FaxServer is using is busy. I maybe busy for whatever reason (in use by another program, receiving or sending faxes, whatever). What currently happens, is if the modem is busy, the fax is sent to the Windows Queue and waits for the modem to get done. I don't want that to happen. So before sending I want to check if the modem is in use. I have a couple of things I have already done. But I am having issue tying them together.
I can get a list of ports for the computer and I can get the faxserver devices. But I would like to be able to do something like... take the faxserver device it is using(Com1, Com2, Com3...Whatever) and I want to check if it is free.

I have a form with several buttons on it and when the user presses one of the buttons it begins a lengthy process (takes up to several seconds). What I want to happen is that any subsequent button presses that occur on any other button on the form are ignored until the process is complete from the initial button press. What actually happens is that subsequent button presses go into a queue and are executed in sequence as the processes for each complete. What I mean is, if each button executes a function that takes 2 seconds and I hit 5 buttons very quickly (in less than 2 seconds say) it leads to a sequence of events that takes 10 seconds.... what I want to happen is for it to lead to only the FIRST button press occurring and taking the 2 seconds that it's activated function takes.
I am writing software that interfaces with hardware through a USB to UART converter and am using virtual COM ports and timing is critical. I want something to occur ONLY when I press a button, not seconds later after being queued up and waiting for a previous operation to finish.
I am trying to determine if a modem is busy. I have tried using serial ports which from what i can see just tells me that something is tied to a port or not. It does not tell me if the modem is busy.
My overall question is How do can I determine if a modem is busy? For an added bonus, also is there a way to tell what device is using a particullar port?

Im trying to show animated gif during busy process or loading. but it isn;t working rite. the gif stops to animate when loading instead and animates only when no loading is n progress. what i have done is to show formB from the formA. i load the gif into the picbox in formA and crete a new thread which will be opening another formB.

When I try to build a project, vb hangs and displays this message in the notification area Microsoft Visual Basic Express 2010 is Busy. I have to end up using Task Manager to end the process. I have been using VB Express for about a year and have never had this problem. i have tried to re-install VB 2010 express, no joy. I even built a Hello World app, still no joy. Im adding listviewitems and want to avoid duplication. Now currently, I have resorted to looping through the listview and comparing each items text property against what Im adding. But for a big table this is very slow. I'm working on a new DAL for my latest project. As the performance is essential I'm avoiding late binding/reflection as much as possible. One central part is the DAL function for populating Business Objects.One class is called in order to connect to the database with the given SQL (stored procedures can't be used in this environment) and the given Business Object or List is populated. As different Business Object types will be populated by the same function I made an Interface that all of the Business Objects implements with the Sub called "Fill". The question is - will reflection be used in this scenario? My thought was as I'm "describing" the objects trought the interface the compiler doesn't need to use Reflection.
I'm writing the following bits of code for a SaveFile Dialog box in Visual Basic 2010.NET. The code works well as the XLSX file is created and opens in Microsoft Excel. However, the problem that I am having is that if the program overwrites a file, the user is getting two prompts. One prompt is from the program's own SaveFile dialog confirming the choice. The other is from Microsoft Excel asking you the same. It's as if the program is running in the background.[code]

One feature of C# compiler is that namespace declaration by default follows the folder name structure in the project. By e.g. you have MyProject1MyDrawing and inside you create a class MyPoint the namespace for MyPoint will be MyProject1.MyDrawing
In VB I cant see any namespace declaration(apparently it implicitly 'inherits' the project(MyProject1) namespace). If I create a MyPoint and MyLine clases in the MyDrawing folder I need to surround each of created classes with "Namespace MyProject1.MyDrawing"..."End Namespace".
Is it possible to automatically name the namespaces like in C# by the folder name?
I have an MS Access database and an MS Visual Basic 2008 front end.I get this error when trying to update a record that has related records:The record cannot be deleted or changed because table 'X' includes related records.I only want to update one field in the row in the 'parent' table which is not the primary key field of either record but the 'Update' command seems to want to rewrite the whole datarow. Rewriting the whole row causes the error (as this updates the primary key). If I switch off refrential integrity checking in the underlying database this solves the problem except that I want to maintain referential integrity so its not really a solution. I have tried beginEdit and EndEdit with no success - same error.Is there a way to update just one field in a row and write that back to the database?
