BackgroundWorker1.ReportProgress - Get The Progress Bar To Increment In Tandem With The Data Flow?

I have finally figured out how to download a file with background worker and downloader. Now the form does not freeze.. I have only one problem left now... How do I get the progress bar to increment in tandem with the data flow? I have listed my full code below. Towards the bottom where the DoWork() sub resides, I am just a few lines short of this year long goal.

basically i fot a form with 5 questions u could say and i got a toolstrip with a progrss bar wat i want to do is as each question is ansered in reality by the user i want the progress bar to go up.
min value is 0 max value is 100 as ther is 5 questions as each questiion is ansered the bar shoul go up by 20
so they anser Q1 it goes up to 20 they answr Q2 it goes up to 40 until they anser the last questyion and the bar is full

I am wondering how to have more than one SQL select statement inside my window formapplication that will control the data flow, as i am a newbie in visual basic.net 2005. This is because I am working on a Alarm Application Notifier which will alert the guard on duty as well as inform him the alarm location. The guard's computer screen will be showing the premises and the button will blink at that location where the alarm is. So if the alarm is at block A for example, the guard screen will show block A button blinking.I have already done the first part but i am STUCK at the rest as to how am i going to seperate the conditions for the 3rd to 4th building .The bottom is for the first building code. The data is from the sql database.

How can I kill the excel.exe process in SSIS during the data flow task when it fails? There could be multiple instances of Excel.exe running from other packages that are perfectly valid so I don't want to loop through all instances killing them.My problem is that during the data flow task the process will sometimes fail due to a sheet that is named incorrectly or missing columns. This keeps an instance of excel.exe running which is now an orphan task eating up resources so it needs to be killed.At the same time there are other SSIS packages running that are accessing their own excel.exe process and aren't having any issues. So how can I kill the orphan excel.exe process without impacting the other excel.exe process?

I want to use two datagridview comboboxes in tandem. What I want to do is use two drop down comboxes (Comboboxes 1 & 2)in tandem in a databound datagridview.Both comboboxes are bound to tables in an SQL 2005 database.By this I mean select an item in combobox 1 and have its display member appear in that combobox.This is usually text.The value member for combobox 1 to be displayed in the combobox 2 which is also text.The value member from combobox 1 has identical values to the display member of combobox 2 in the database tables.If I need to change the display member in combobox 2, as all situations have their exceptions, I want to do this without changing combobox 1.The value member for combobox 2 is numeric and is put into another cell in the DGV for carrying out calculations.I have managed to get the display of combobox 1 working on its own and ignoring the value member.I have done the same with combobox 2 and have the value member working correctly.
Can databound comboboxes be used in this manner or will VB.net not allow this type of operation.I have not done this with any code. I tried to get my required operation through the edit facility in the DGV.When attempting to run the program, it does not compile and throws an error which basically says "You have done something wrong.Sort it out."Typical Microsoft help! Can it be done using code in the datasets or binding sources?

What i am doing is trying to manually increment a data column with a range of my choice. Say i have a range from 1 - 10. Now with my update query i want to update a column with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 UPDATE TABLE SET Type = [min_range] to [max_range] WHERE Po = 'A' AND Loc = 'F'; WHERE Po = 'A' AND Loc = 'F' will return 10 records but i want type to be 1 - 10 for those records couple of days trying to get this work and i am using VB 2008 .NET.

My BackgroundWorker works perfectly in my main form frmMain. But when I run the ReportProgress method in another module, I get exception "This BackgroundWorker states that it doesn't report progress. Modify WorkerReportsProgress to state that it does report progress." This IS set to report progress; this works fine when run the same way in the main module.Basically, from a module called by my BackgroundWorker, I want to show progress on my main form.How can I fix this? The only idea I have is to move the code from the module into my main form, but this seems a backward step, which would involve extra work. Am hoping there are easier ways!

I am trying to get a progress bar to update on my Form while waiting for a process to complete but could not get my progressbar control to update.
First of, I have tried to fix the problem for a day and a half now looking at various codes and examples in the forums but I'm afraid I probably do not have the necessary VB skills yet to troubleshoot my own code. I believe I will be able to eventually fix this after I am done with my VB book
I've attached the relevant part of my code below and the problem is that I can see my DoWork event firing off and changing the time and percentage that I want to pass on to ReportProgress() and the ProgressChanged handler. However, the ProgressChanged handler is not raised until after my Do Loop is done.

Again, I can see the ProgressChange fire but only after my work (diagnostics) is complete so my progress bar is either 0% or 100%. In Dowork, I can verify that the progtimepercentage variable is indeed changing and ReportProgress is called but ProgressChanged is not being raised until after the job I wanted is done.

I have a long running process running in a backgroundworker, and want it to report progress to the user, and update a checked listbox as the items are discovered. The reportprogress is called, and the statements executed (placing a break in the reportprogress routine), I can see the control valuse change, but the change is not reflected in the dialog. I have a Worker.cs in a ZScreenLib DLL that does the following: 1. takes ZScreenGUI.cs (a Windows Form) as an argument 2. creates a Background Worker object and does everything 3. reports progress to the ZScreenGUI form via BackgroundWorker.ReportProgressThe user can create as many instances as possible of Worker.cs class and do the background worker tasks Now I need to create another Windows form called ZScreenCLI.cs and wish to make use of this Worker.cs class because ZScreenCLI and ZScreenGUI are pretty much the same but ZScreenCLI has much less features compared to ZScreenGUI. My question is, how do you manage to report progress to ZScreenCLI? The ReportProgress methods are tied with the controls in ZScreenGUI form. Obviously there is a problem with the concept I am using

When I move or copy files, I'd like to know how to show the actual progress of the data transfer.Something that I don't understand is how when moving or copying files to detect the actual progress of the data transfer. I always put the moving/copying in a background worker and that does fine, but presently I can only report status based on how many (of the total) files have been moved or copied.I've tried to look at the destination and my thinking was to report the progress based on the bytes there, but that doesn't work because it always sees it as being the complete file's size, even though that makes no sense.In fact, if you copy a file using Windows Explorer, it does the same thing, although obviously it's still transferring.
