I am trying a simple object deserialization from an object encoded as a Base64 string, but I keep getting this weird error message. I've searched the forums for a solution but those who've experienced this all had different reasons for the error. The most logical solution, which is resetting the stream's position, did not work either. Here's my code:

To object oriented programming and programming with visual basic .net (vb 2008 express). regarding storing of information but not in a database. Someone mentioned using binary or xml serialization. So I researched that and after two long 8 hour days of messing around with binary serialization and about a dozen different code techniques i finally found one that seems to work. I created a module that serializes two variables and appends them into a file. The same module also has a sub that deserializes the information from the file and displays in a message box. If needed I'll provide the code later.
Really the problem I am having is that my message box only displays the first entry into the file and no other. So I can append any number of variables to the file but every time I call the subroutine in my module it only displays the first entry. How do you read all of the file? Also can I search the file for a particular value of a variable? The variables are codependent. The two variables are simply a date and a string representing a changing code that corresponds to that specific date. So I'd like to be able to say search for a date and retrieve both the date and the code.
However I don't have any idea how to do this. Also the messagebox.show method is probably not the best way to illustrate the information in the file but I'm still new and I'm not sure the best way to show all the info in the file. For instance if I wanted to show the entire contents or just the codes corresponding to certain dates. I know a database is probably the better answer but I've gotten this far without one, lol, I'm too stubborn to change now. Once I figure this out, I'll switch and try the same technique with a database.

in an winForm app in VS2010 win 7 compiling to x86, I try to do what Alvas.Audio seems to work. See (c# ex: [URL] for reference.

The result give me data.length()=0. I do not have any exception, I can read format from it and whatever reader I use I got this problem.EDIT : After some tests, it seems like the uncompressed file I create in the first step (in PCM format, with .wav extension) can not be recognized by the Alvas.audio library for the second step. I must miss something around Audio file markups or something alike.

Im making a desktop player for a online web radio, and for the program I wanna make it show all the stream info. Like the stream name, and such. However I dont know how to do this? I looked everywhere
The server url is setup like this "[URL]" And it has all the stream info and that there. So is there a way I can get the info from there onto like say a label? Live updates btw.

I have a Child class which uses DataContractSerialization and raises a Changed event when its Name property is set.

The Parent class is serialzed and deserialized and all the data (including the Child) is saved and resored as expected.However, after deserialization, the Changed event is never raised!I know the deserialization process bypasses class constructors, but shouldn't the event be initialized?Is it possible to serialize/deserialize the Event?Is there a way to initialize the event in the OnDeserialzed method of the Child rather than the Parent (see below)?
(1) Add a constructor to the Child class which takes an instance of itself as an argument.
(2) Add an OnDeserialized method to the Parent class which creates a New instance of the Child class based on the deserialzed instance of the Child class.

I am not seeing what I am doing wrong. To see what was being done, I changed the constructor values to "TEST", after the XML gets read in (I verified what the XML is), the class values are still stuck to "TEST". Any more Ideas? I have a problem with the cryptostream, if i write the stream to a memorystream the memory that the stream used is still alocated and i have no way of unalocating it.what am i missingdoing wrong? im using-using on the streams,readers and crypto stuffs so the framework should shut them all down right? i tryed calling .close and .dispose but nothing ,in fact i moved it all over I have provided the sub that im using for the encrytion im in .net 4.5 so there is a lil async stuff but i know thats not the problem coz i moved this code out of my main app(.net 4) for testing to see if i could fix the problem.[code...]

I extract from an archive a Jpeg that's about 256 Kb, load it into a memorystream and display it into a picturebox
when doing that, my app ram ussage grows with 50+ MB

I am having an issue using BinaryFormatter.Serialize. I have this generic extension method to "clone" an object via binary serialization:

This is killing performance. Anything more that about 7 or 8 clones brings the app to a halt. Why would this happen? The USING block ought to ensure the MemoryString is disposed of, right? Shouldn't a new MemoryString be created each time? I would think since the same original Mode object is the source for the serialization, the MemoryString length would be the same.

I'm working on a project to extract documents from a SQL Database and writing those documents to a network drive. However some of the files pointed at in the DB are encrypted files (RijndaelManaged)that reside on another network driveI have been able to retrieve, and decrypt the files using streams. I'm working on a project in VB.Net (2010) where I'm extracting files from an Document Management System.The Files reside on the network, and information about the files are in a SQL 2005 Database and have been encrypted with the Encryption Stream (System. Security. Cryptography. I am dynamically creating an pdf from a memorystream to a web browser, using itextsharp. It is called via https and it works in IE and Firefox but not Safari or Opera. I don't care about Opera but I do want it to work in Safari though. If I make the call with http it does work (creates the pdf) in Safari but not https
The error I get is The error is: unknown error (CFURLErrorDomain:303).

I wrote a piece of code that grabs a fileupload, puts it into a memory stream, converts the main pic, and thumbnail pic, then saves them as jpegs, then updates the database.
Everything works fine, except one little glitch. If the DPI is above 300 then the image doesn't save right. It get's pixelated and blury.
