Sep 11, 2010I made a very simple web browser with three forms last night, saved the project and came to re-open it this morning only to find that form1 and form2 cannot be edited in anything but code mode now.Very confused. Am using Visual Basic Express 2008 on Windows 7 x64.

Dec 4, 2006I have a windows application with a large form named QueryForm which I can no longer open in the design view. When I debug the project the form displays as normal and when I view all files you get the two files QueryForm.Designer.vb and QueryForm.resx. Is there any way I can re-assosciate this file as a form so I can use the design view again instead of having to recreate the form all over again? I have added a new form which works fine in design view and cannot think of any reason why the form will not work in the design mode

However, the program does work correctly. And, I can see the control definitions in form.designer.vb. How can I get my form to display the controls again so I can add/move/change it going forward?

Apr 5, 2009I am using Visual studio express 2008. I was working on a VB project for a few hours. Then I did something,(I think I just double clicked the form ) and I cannot open it in design mode. By Design mode I mean so you can see the controls, and ad buttons and stuff. The form still runs, if I run it. I see the form in the Solution explorer. From solution explorer, if I show all Files , then open FrmMain.Designer.vb, I can see my code. If I go to the project menu item and insert New Windows Form the new form works like I expect it too, I can see it. I need to be able to see my form.

Sep 27, 2007Every once in awhile when I double click on a form in design mode (Windows Forms Application) that contains a tab control, all of the controls on the tab control disappear. I have to reopen the form to get them all back. In addition to this, the column order of my columns on any datagrid inside a tab control get rearranged when this happens. Is this a known bug and if so is there a hot fix or patch?

And the form is not displayed in designer. What to do?
VS 2008 - Custom Control Not Showing On Form In Design Mode
Jan 31, 2011I have created a custom Combobox and added it to my toolbox, and it works well. Now I have added a custom ListBox to the same file as the combo box, but it does not show on my designer when I place it. I can however add it at runtime.

Getting Express 2008 Design View Error
Sep 13, 2010Design view shows an error message with projects that I open and with new projects. I can create or edit a project using code and properties. I just can't see anything but the error message in design. I can double click a label or text box and it will be added to the form, and I can edit it, just not see the form in design view.

May 2, 2009I was loading my project when my computer rebooted suddenly. After it came back up, I went to load my project again and got an error about "an error occured when loading in the design view..this has been disabled" - sorry I did not get the exact message but it was something like this. Then when my project opened up, I now cannot see my form in the design view anymore. It still run's fine, but there is no code displayed and the form itself does not display in IDE anymore. I can see the code for the form only on the form.designer.vb mode.I have continues backup installed, and restored several versions of the class files for the form, but yet still no luck.

My project runs fine. I can compile and do all that good stuff. But I can not see for in design view.
VS 2010 - Error Opening Design View (No Editor Available)
Feb 10, 2012There is no editor available for 'file path here'. Make sure the application for file type (.vb) is installed. This is the error that I get when I try to open a project I did a while back in VB. I tried a C# project and I can open the form for viewing fine, but for some reason VB won't work? I really don't want to do a repair on the whole application as it takes a while and I'm not even sure I have the ISO right now.

Sometimes it's cut in half and the other half is outside the window but there's no way to move the form inside the design space to see the form in full. Jul 24, 2009I have a custom UserControl that I am hosting inside a FlowLayoutPanel. Each time that I run the application the control will disappear off the hosting form's design view. I have to close the form's design view and then reopen it each time. The control is not getting removed in any way, just isn't being shown.
Edit, alright this got a bit weirder. Only the first usercontrol that I put into the FlowLayoutPanel disappears. This problem also happens on a project Build and Rebuild.

I go to the form often if I change the name of click event etc.I have to go through solution explorer and click on the file. Is there a shortcut like F7 that opens the designer.cs file?

Jun 6, 2011I have created a form and dropped a MicrosoftReportViewer onto the form. It appears in the control panel on the bottom of the design view but it will not show up in the form. This is the second form I have done like this. The first one is fine. I can see the report viewer in the form and reports work correctly. For the second form nothing. Something I did notice is that in the first form the ReportViewer1 has a name in properties. In the second form there is no line with the name of the control.

Jun 23, 2010I created primary/start up Form for my VB2005 app (called Admin.vb). Now when I go back to the solution explorer, I can see Admin.vb but it doesn't have the form icon and clicking it doesn't open the form. Instead it opens the code.All of my other forms are fine and have the right icons and open in the [Design] view ...The form obviously still exists as it opens in runtime but I can't seem to open the design view for it.
