Button Not Hiding When Mouse Leaves From Bottom?

Sep 29, 2010

I have a form where I want buttons at the very bottom edge of the form, with no gap to the border. These buttons shall be "auto-hide", so they only show when the mouse is in for example the lower 20 pixels of the form. So I use the MouseMove event to trigger this, like code below. However, if mouse leaves the form across the bottom edge, where the buttons are, then the buttons will obviously remain. But I want them to hide. So I need for this purpose to hide the buttons by some other event. Hence I try to hide them in the form's MouseLeave event. But this makes the buttons unclickable and in an erratic state, flashing on and off when the mouse goes over the button..

Private Sub ZgScale_MouseMove(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles MyBase. MouseMove

If e.Y > Me.ClientSize.Height - 30 Then
Button1.Visible = True
Else[code].......

Trigger When The Mouse Leaves The Form

Apr 11, 2012

I'm trying to trigger when the mouse leaves the form, but I don't want to trigger the mouseleave when its over controls; as it is doing at the moment. Can you suggest ways to keep triggering the mousehover over form while on controls? but mouseleave works still when the mouse leaves the form (not when hovering controls) ?

Changing Opacity Of A Form When The Mouse Leaves And Enters?

Mar 19, 2010

I want to make it so when someone places the mouse cursor inside the form the opacity is 100% but when it leaves then it drops to 75%. This is my code:

Private Sub Form1_MouseEnter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseEnter
Me.Opacity = 100%
End Sub

Private Sub Form1_MouseLeave(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseLeave
Me.Opacity = 75%
End Sub

The forms default value is 75% and it works fine when I mouse over. However when the mouse leaves the opacity doesn't drop. What am I doing wrong?

Mouse Cursor Is Hiding Until Item Selected From Dropdown List

Jun 8, 2012

VB.NET Winforms Application... When a user starts typing in the search box of the application it automatically populates the name list dropdown box with the valid results and sets the droppeddown value to true... Everything is working fine except the fact that the user is forced to select a value from the name list or press the esc key because without doing so the mouse cursor just disappears and you have to move the mouse all the way outside the application for it to come back and it will only do so while outside the applicaiton.. Below is the code that I am using for this and it should be noted that I am using the droppeddown value else where in the application and none of those instances have an issue its only this one..

Private Sub u_lastName_Box_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles u_lastName_Box.TextChanged
u_nameLook_Box.Items.Clear()

Find Out Wherer A Mouse Button Is Pressed When Mouse Pointer Is Leaving A UIElement?

Apr 6, 2011

I've been working on a GUI in WPF which I'm fairly new to, having only used Windows Forms up until now. So far, my GUI is very simple: it contains two rectangles, each of which drops a shadow. The shadow creates an effect of rectangles "floating above the canvas" so to speak.

When one of the rectangles is pressed, the myRectangle.MouseDown event is handled such that the shadow goes away, thus creating an effect of the rectangle being pressed down onto the canvas, like a button.Similarly, when mouse button is released, the myRectangle.MouseDown event is handled such that the shadow reappears and the rectangle "floats" again. This behavior make them resemble buttons. Note, there a reasons I want them to be rectangles and not custom buttons.

[Code]...

If the pointer leaves a rectangle while mouse button is pressed, I'd like shadow to reappear. This is arguable simple, because theoretically in this case, any time myRectangle.MouseLeave is raised, the shadow should come back on, even if it was already there.If the pointer left a rectangle when mouse button was pressed, then came back while before the button was released, I want the shadow to disappear again. This one is what gives me problems. No idea how to do this.

VS 2010 Any Tips Or Techniques For Debugging In Mouse Move Events / When Mouse Button Is Down / Has To Stay That Way?

Jun 6, 2011

I'm currently debugging a form that sets a flag when the mouse button is pressed, then clears the flag when the mouse button is released. As long as the mouse button is pressed, the user can move the mouse around and a few things happen depending on where they move. One of the things that happens is that a timer starts, or stops, and a few things change color depending on the mouse position. The timer starts when it should, then stops when it should, but once stopped, it is not re-starting when it should. I can verify that MouseMove events are getting through, because coloring changes as I move the mouse, as it should. This would be a simple thing to debug...except that it requires the darn mouse button to be down, and it uses the mouse move event. Anybody who has put a breakpoint in a mouse move event handler knows the issue: There are THOUSANDS of them. Worse yet, since the mouse button is necessary for switching to the IDE, as well as setting a breakpoint (technically, a keyboard shortcut could do this if I could shift focus), I can't wait for the problem to happen, then switch to the IDE and set a breakpoint to see what is happening then.Does anybody have any tips or techniques for debugging in mouse move events when the mouse button is down and has to stay that way? As it is, I'm going to have to write some funky code into the method just so that I have a place to get a breakpoint when I need it without breaking on every one of the mouse move events.

Build A Class Where Always Have A Button At The Bottom Of A Form?

Nov 18, 2009

I'd like to build a class where I always have a button at the bottom of a form.Then when I drag and drop the button, It has to make a copy of that button called "button1", if I drag and drop the button again I'll have another button called "button2" and so on.But If I drag and drop the "button1" or "button2" they shouldn't duplicate as the original. And this is the problem I can't sort out.

This is my class:

Imports System.Windows.Forms
Imports System.Drawing
Public Class frmTablesEditor

VS 2008 Hiding Dropdown Button On Combobox

Jul 2, 2009

I have a data grid on my form with 6 columns. 5 of the 6 are combobox fields. When just looking at the datagrid all the drop down buttons on the left really clutter up the grid. Does anyone know a way to hide the drop down button on the combo box until the time the user actually clicks in the cell. I have tried changing the style to flat which helps but I would rather it wasn't visible at all until the user is actually in the cell.

Writing Of Files Leaves Corrupt NTFS?

Jul 3, 2007

Basically, we have an application which batch creates a large amount of files (pairs of PNG plus ASCII). The file count can exceed the one million.The first time the application ran the results were quite disappointing. The files get stored in folder structures of maximum 2000 files per folder. The tree depth gets only to two levels (root + packs folders). So the results would be stored in folders like "pack1","pack2"..."packn" each containing no more than 2000 files (1000 pairs in essence).

So getting back to the results, what happened was that although the application reported over 1.4 million files written, the results were that files were missing from the filesystem and others were corrupt (PNG cant be read and ASCII were blank filled with spaces).The speed that the files were written was not anything great (about 7 files per sec) and the total size ranged from 160K to 1.5M (rarely). The PNG images are 2000x2000 in size although I doubt it has anything to do with my problem.

Everything is done in pure .NET (image and ascii generation).The OS that has been tried was Win 2000 Advanced Server, Win 2003 Server plus XP Pro. The hardware ranged from Dual Core Workstation to high spec servers. The irony is that on the XP system the number of corrupt files was quite low where on the other two all hell broke loose. There were event logs written stating Event ID 2021 on the Win 2000 system and Paging faults on XP, which lead me to the next approach.

We wrapped the code to do an Application.DoEvents every second and refresh various statistic UI components. We obviously added Stream.Flush().Plus we added code to check the files (re-read them) once they are written. Even added "WriteThrough" option to avoid the OS cache! The result was stuggering as no errors were report yet the NTFS table again got corrupted!Now we inserted Thread.Sleep(100) after writing and then reading to confirm the file. Obviously this is slowing down the process but hope to have more stable results.

Reading and article about Event ID 2021 we saw it was suggesting to modify registry values, but the IT dep did not wish to accept this as they believe it is an application error.In pseudo code, here is more or less what is done:

<try>
<Create Image in memory>
<Open stream to filesystem>

Change The Button Style And Button Text Style On Mouse Rollover?

Mar 7, 2009

I am creating an application and am very new to VB. I have 4 buttons on my form which is like my applications main menu. I would like that each of the buttons behaves in the following way when there is a mouse rollover: The Button back color is changed from the default to Red The Button text is changed to Blue, Bold, and increases in font size I would also like all the buttons to go back to their initial state when the mouse leaves.

Another thing, instead of me writing code for each of the buttons event handlers (Mouse Hovers, and Mouse Leaves) is there a way I can write this code once, maybe as a function and then always call it for any button that I create from here on so that any new buttons take on this behaviour.
