Cannot Create New Solutions Due To Unsupported Code Parsing / Generation
Oct 27, 2009
Trying to get some VB practice after a long time rest, but I'm having some issues even getting a new solution open. Ok, I have VB '08 Express on Vista (Visual Studio also installed) and whenever I try to create a new solution I get the following error:[code]Now I've checked the forums and seen that this error has come up a fair bit, but I've tried the couple of suggestions I have seen to no avail.
The file 'C:Documents and SettingsMirkoMy DocumentsVisual Studio2008ProjectsWindowsApplication1WindowsApplication1Form1.vb' does not support code parsing or generation because it is not contained within a project that supports code.
I would like to be able to parse vb.net code files, so I can examine the collection of Subs, Functions (and their contents, including comments), private variables, etc. I can be open the actual source code files. So for example, if I have:
I am using C# to develop an enterprise level application. I use VS2010 Modeling Project to model my classes but there is no code generation utility which available for free. I want to know if is there any Utility/Extension that can generate C#/VB code from UML diagrams.
I am new to WSSF and am wondering if it would work for solution with VB as the programming language if so how to achieve it. I have seen samples which generates C# code but my project requirement is VB .Net.
I am trying to pass an FTP file address with % symbols [URL] If I directly input the address: Req = CType(WebRequest.Create("ftp://.../EcoHydrology/Sample_Outputs/AA/A%23%23_AAA_AA_AA%23%23%23a_A%23%23_AAACC07.txt"), FtpWebRequest)
I want to create an array V0(9) using random number generation. For example I generated V0(9) = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,1} I want to use 12345 + 67891. How can I separate to use two parts of the array.

Public Class Form1 Dim i As Integer Dim V0(9) As Double
I am wishing to emulate the auto code generation that happens when you derive from a class, such as Form, and declare the Public Sub New() constructor. When this happens the constructor will auto-generate code like the following:
Public Class MyInheritedForm Inherits Form Public Sub New()
The property on the error message is a List(Of Person) and for some reason it trigger this error, for almost anything I do, and its getting really annoying.
Just started a new project and was kind of bummed out that instead of creating interface Im forced to spend quite large amount of time creating objects, INSERTs,UPDATEs.. that kind of thing. Mainly because it's booring. Anyway, I was wondering if there are tools in VS2010 for visual basic that would allow someone to generate clases and INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE stored procedures based on database structure OR creat INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE procedures and database structure based on class structure.
I have this code that I have found on the net and I run but there is error that says "Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information.". May I know what is the problem?
I have some XML that a vendor is supplying me and I can not parse it in VB.net no matter what I try. I am a novice at XML. This is the xml that the vendor sent me:
i am having problems trying to code this application, here is the assignment: Amusing Toys, Inc. wants to store the description and the number of items on hand of its toys in a sequential access file named stock.txt. The company's sales manager wants an application that lets the user enter the descriptions and the inventory in tow list boxes. Then he also wants to retrieve the file so it is possible display the inventory of a toy whose description he selects from a list box. The List box with the description should appear as soon as the application is loaded. Create an application which: initially adds the information to list boxes so the information can be checked, places the data in one or two arrays, saves the information for retrieval later, contains test data for at least 10 items.here is what i have so far i cant get the information to line up correctly in the list box from the text file and also i have no idea on how to get the quantity to show up after i get it to line up correctly i think i need an array.
Public Class MainForm Private Sub addItemButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles addItemButton.Click Dim heading As String = "Department" & Strings.Space(2) & "OnHand" Dim description As String = String.Empty
I have a WebBrowser control on a form and pass HTML code to it to "preview". This works fine in development on a Win XP machine but on the target machine with Win 2K it just shows the HTML code in the control and doesn't parse it.
I am try to import a text file read it's hex code search for a specific string and replace it with a different string. and write the changed file. I so far have a why to browse for the file on my form but not sure what to do from there.A
Public Class Form1 Public fdlg As OpenFileDialog = New OpenFileDialog() Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
I'll be able to get some advice and help with regards to my question. Basically I am trying to achieve the task of downloading source code from a website say forum then using a simple parser technique remove the metadata from the uploaded data and store it into the database.
I know how to download information from a website by using the following code
I'm having trouble tracking down what is wrong and causing the above error. This only occurs when saving the design view in VS 2012. The code builds and runs fine.Full error text:Code generation for property 'CompanyValue' failed. Error was: 'Property accessor 'CompanyValue' on object 'ContactViewUC1' threw the following exception: 'Object variable or With block variable not set."
CompanyValue definition in ContactViewUC: Public Property CompanyValue Get
I'm creating a vb.net winforms application that will take in user given strings, parse them, and print out labels with variable information. The given string will be used in all the labels, but the variable part of the string will change with each label.
My question is: is it better to parse the strings one time, then store those values in arrays, or to parse the string each time a label is printed? Which will perform better? Which is better practice? What is the proper way to test something like this?
How we create a licensing system for a vb 2008 solution to protect it from unauthorized access? Is there any code to generate a unique system id to identify a machine like CPU ID etc.?
In our database we have gigantic tables (it was initially built 20 years ago). We are on the process of developing it.
Some tables contain rowversion and optimistic concurrency. We were wondering if there is a way to just correspond rowversion to the modification of some specific columns, but not all of them. In Normal Case, T-SQL which is generated then would be huge.
I have up until recently developed only in-house custom applications and I have never had a need to protect this software with any type of licensing/ protection mechanisms.I'm now working on a new project for a software app that I plan on distributing to a relatively small number of clients (1000 or so) and I need to consider some type of licensing/software protection solution that I can easily integrate into my application.I'm also looking for specific product recommendations (if possible) based on users experiences. With vast assortment of product offerings out there, I'm having a very hard time wading through them all.
I would like to stick with a software option over a hardware dongle type solutions so that I can make distribution and activation as painless as possible for my customers¦but would consider hardware options if need be.I have tried the KeyLOK hardware evaluation kit but it seems to be a little difficult to implement and it would force my customers to wait days before they could initially activate and use my application. [code] License registration and tracking via Internet..Software distribution is very controlled and it's not a techie type user audience, so hacking is not a major concern but I would like to protect the application as much as possible.
what is the correct way to archive my work? That sound pretty dumb. Let me try again. I begin a new project and design a form and then start adding code then save my work.Tomorrow I want to make changes to the project an design - how do I save and keep track of my form and code versions?
I have an issue with globalising my application settings.I have 5 Projects in one solution and I all 5 of my projects use the same connection string to connect to the DB.before I had added any additional projects, I could control this quite easily from the settings designer (Project > Project Properties > Settings) this will work well for one project. How can I share my settings across to all projects, and if the connection string is modified, save it back to the settings file.does VB support settings at the Solution Level?
