i am trying to validate an email address by making sure that there is an @ symbol present in the text box. So far i have the following code.[code]I get a blue line under the "@". How do i get this to work? Or is there a better way to do this?
I'm trying to ensure that all characters which are not numeric, or alphabetic are converted to HTML code when submitted to my database.
[Code]...
This successfully converts anything to HTML, but now I need to put some condition in there so it only does it where I need it to. ie; on any character which will either screw up my database entry, or screw up formatting when returned back to the screen as HTML (this database content is for product data for a website).
So for simplicity, I guess I want to convert only charcters which are not A-Z alphabetic or 1-0 numeric.
I could use isNumeric, but not sure how to detect alphabetic characters.
I've been Googling and found something which looked like it would work, but the logic/filtering was wrong.
Whats the best way to include the Currency Symbol, without affecting arithmetic operations for example. Lets say I have a Listview which has one column named "Cost" where ill be a Currency Value which needs to carry the symbol for example "BsF. 22,34" or "$. 22,34". Lets say I need to apply aritmetics with those values after whats the best way to store em or at least ignore the symbol when using arithmetic on them?
My chemistry calculations program, written in Visual Studio 2008, VB.Net (Win XP), gives completely wrong results when a Comma is used as Decimal Symbol. The calculations are only correct with a Dot (.) as Decimal Symbol. How can I make the calculation results independent of the Decimal Symbol? (Dot or Comma)?(For example Excel calculates correctly with a Dot or Comma as Decimal Symbol)I have found an old thread adressing the same problem, but no simple and easy solution was given.
I have a string of text being sent through a serial port to a text box (Text1.Text). The string has some symbols in in which I am assuming are Hex values. The hex values are Hex(1), Hex(4), Hex(12), and Hex(17). What I need to do is find the position of these hex symbols in the string of text so that I can split or grab the data after the specific hex symbol. I am not able to use substring or indexof or instr ... or at least I am not using it correctly to find the appropriate symbol.I was thinking if I need to iterate through the string character by character and grab each symbol or text and get their value??? If it is one of the hex symbols, then get the index number (or position).
Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim Response As Integer ' Displays a message box with the yes and no options. Response = MsgBox("Do you really want to exit?", Buttons:=vbYesNo) [Code] ..... How do I place that blue question mark symbol next to "Do you really want to exit?"
I am trying to search all sub directories for a symbol and replace it with another. The code below works for a specified path but it will not search sub directories.
I have lines of text that contain "degree symbols" (ASCII(248)). I want to replace those symbols with an alphabet character (Z).I am changing the line of text into a charArray, iterating through one character at a time. How do I define the ASCII(248) in code to replace each occurence with a Z? Something like string.Replace(ASCII(248), "Z") would be nice, but that doesn't seem to work too well.
if there's a way to just display the latest Symbol when drawing a graph. My app displays "real time" data from a pointPairlist and I want one graph just to be a + mark with no trace.
Dim myCurve As LineItem = m_graphPane.AddCurve("", m_pointsList, Color.Red, SymbolType.Plus)
This will show a red line with a + with every pointpair, I just want to display the latest pointpair, as an +.
I have taken over support of an application at the company I work for. All of a sudden, the customer wants to be able to enter a registered trademark in a name field. The symbol, using ALT+0174, is being saved correctly, but the app is not encoding it properly. Essentially this is what I'm doing:
Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click Dim ms As New MemoryStream
[Code].....
Everything is fine, except the "??" after "Smith" should be "®". What is the best way, if any, to display the symbol correctly?
I am trying to export some data from a SQL Express table to Access using VB.net. The data is correctly displayed in SQL as, for example, temperature with the small degree object and the letters F or C for Farenhiet or Celsius. The character is of course represented by ° = "°" in html code, which is what appears in my access tables.
How can I get the insert statements to correctly pass this symbol? I have thousands of records and this applies to maybe a hundred or so in each of a few hundred DB's I am running this conversion on.I read the data from a Gridview an .aspx .net web page and then use an insert query with an Access OLEDB connection.
I'm outputting a Double that can be either (+) or negative (-). If the number is a negative the symbol (-) is included automatically, is there a way to do this for positive numbers as well?
The only (horrible) way I can do this is :
If MyNumber <= 0 then string.Format("{0:0.00}", MyNumber) Else string.Format("+{0:0.00}", MyNumber) End If

I have a .net application running on a symbol mc75 (motorola) using the scanner. I am now trying to add functionality for the camera and I am running into issues.
To find the 'devices' you are supposed to use the library's 'available devices' function.
With the barcode it is symbol.barcode.devices.availabledevices and it returns two items (you can scan from the scanner or using the camera device) However, when I do the camera library it does not find any devices - symbol.imaging.devices.availabledevices returns 0
I can take a picture using the software on the mc75, so I know the functionality is there, I just can't figure out how to get to it programmatically..
