Oct 10, 2011I'm trying to create a valid RegEx replacement pattern for correctly formatting specific .XML file names. Specifically, if a file name does not begin with a prefix, let's say, ACE_. If the XML file name and extension does not begin with ACE_, prepend the string ACE_ to the file name.For example, if my input source string is the following:
Widgets.xml
I would like to execute a single RegEx Replacement that would result in the string being:
ACE_Widgets.xml.
Conversely, if the string already begins with ACE_, I would like it to remain unchanged. Also,how can I include the pattern ".xml" to ensure that the string pattern for the file name and extension ends with ".xml" in the same matching pattern for the RegEx Replacement pattern? As for the match, I have some luck with the following:
^ACE_{1}[dD]+
Which indicates there is a match for the pattern if the input string is ACE_Widgets.xml and no match if the string is Widgets.xml
The RegEx pattern would suffice, but if you need to know the language in which I'd like to use the replacement pattern is in .NET 4.0 in either C# or VB.NET.
The following posting is close to what Im looking for, but with the inclusion of the *ix directory path prefix, and the use of preg_replace() in PHP, I'm having a bit of a struggle getting it to work with what I need to do:

Jan 12, 2012I'm trying to ensure that all characters which are not numeric, or alphabetic are converted to HTML code when submitted to my database.

This successfully converts anything to HTML, but now I need to put some condition in there so it only does it where I need it to. ie; on any character which will either screw up my database entry, or screw up formatting when returned back to the screen as HTML (this database content is for product data for a website).
So for simplicity, I guess I want to convert only charcters which are not A-Z alphabetic or 1-0 numeric.
I could use isNumeric, but not sure how to detect alphabetic characters.
I've been Googling and found something which looked like it would work, but the logic/filtering was wrong.
So I figured I'd ask here :D

The hex values are Hex(1), Hex(4), Hex(12), and Hex(17). What I need to do is find the position of these hex symbols in the string of text so that I can split or grab the data after the specific hex symbol. I am not able to use substring or indexof or instr ... or at least I am not using it correctly to find the appropriate symbol.I was thinking if I need to iterate through the string character by character and grab each symbol or text and get their value??? If it is one of the hex symbols, then get the index number (or position).

The data is correctly displayed in SQL as, for example, temperature with the small degree object and the letters F or C for Farenhiet or Celsius. The character is of course represented by ° = "°" in html code, which is what appears in my access tables.
How can I get the insert statements to correctly pass this symbol? I have thousands of records and this applies to maybe a hundred or so in each of a few hundred DB's I am running this conversion on.I read the data from a Gridview an .aspx .net web page and then use an insert query with an Access OLEDB connection.
