View 3 RepliesI am using .ocx in my project. I made some changes into .ocx. and compiled it. Afterthat I unregistered the old one and register the new .ocx. I changed reference from my project as well. This .ocx is related to display of new form so whenever i m trying to load new form it taking to much time. In .log file of my project i m getting error "control XXX was not a loaded control class"
It seems like its not finding the correct .ocx at the beginning. But afterthat it works fine but very slow.
I am trying to open a previously created VB Project on my machine. When I open the VB Project file, I get the error-

In my userform I have a WebBrowser control to load PDF files. I have added a FolderBrowserDialog to allow user selection of drives and or folders.
What I am trying to do now is after a file has been selected and viewed, the user may want to change drives and or folder locations. How do I remove the current contents of the WebBrowser control to be a blank screen (just like when the app starts, its blank).

I have a semi-transparent custom control in vb2005 - works fine, except I can't get it to update/refresh correctly. If I update the custom parameter _backgroundColor, the control appears to be overpainted - e.g. each attempt to update the colour of the control overpaints the existing colour - until it becomes a solid block of colour. However, forcing a refresh of the form makes the control display the correct colour. Any ideas? I don't want to have to repaint the form just to get this control to render correctly. I have coded in the older version of VB for years (VB6 and prior) and Recently I just began learning VB 2008. In my current project I made a mistake in a form name frmAuthors and so far I am unable to recover. The problem is that I tried to have the form inherit a class I had created (first mistake). The IDE generated a popup message stating the error and provided the option of changing from inheritance from system.windows.forms to the class I had created. I said yes just to see what would happen (I was bored so I was up for something new) and that's when the form got corrupted.Is there a way to let frmAuthors go back to recognizing itself as a form object and not a member of the object I had created?
View 2 RepliesI am transmitting data over an IP socket and receiving the data via a second program I have written. The server was in VB6 and am now creating a new one in vb.net to run as a service. The major issue I am having is related to the encoding features.
Issue 1 to be able to correctly encode a bytearray so that when it is received by a VB6 program via winsock that the data will be in the proper ANSI format for the pc to read it correctly. So far this works on some files and not on others depending on the content of the file.
Issue 2 to be able to correctly encode a bytearray, send it to a vb.net host program and correctly [decode?] write it to disk.
To make things a little more complicated I must also be able to do this where the client resides on a Windows Mobile, Windows CE, or Windows PC. I have been running some tests and have gotten mixed results.

I have two rich text boxes, and two buttons on my screen. The first button grabs HTML from a URL and then converts the HTML to XML which resides in rich text box 1.
The second button is to grab the XML from the rich text box1 and then parse it to grab all the input elements by their ID.
My issue is that my parser isn't doing anything. My guess is that I'm not quite getting the XML from the first rich text box.
What would be the best way to grab the XML from a rich text box load it into memory and then parse the XML to grab all the ID tags?

I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. I am in the process of designing a computer control program to control a HF communications receiver (radio), and have found a problem with the Serial port. I am using VB Express Edition 2008. This module of the program is supposed to take an input string from another part of the program, format it, break it into 4 bytes, and send it to the radio in hex form via COM port 1. The problem comes in when you try to enter a frequency with an 8 or a 9 in it. The 8 or 9 is usually replaced by 45, ex.-input 9900, receiver tune 4545. The exact same thing happens with 8's, input 8800 and receiver tune 4545. All other numbers other than 8 or 9 work fine. The strange part of it is that sometimes the 8's and 9's work, and work correctly. For instance, 900, 1900, 2900, 3900, 4900, 5900, 6900, and 7900 all work correctly. This led me to believe that is may only be when the 8 or 9 is in the first position, but that is not the case, it also shows up in other positions as well. All other frequencies that do not have 8 or 9 in them also work. I ran into this same problem with VB Express 2005, and worked on it for weeks before giving up and going back to VB6.0. This same module (with exception of the port open command) runs flawlessly under VB6. I have even tried importing the MSCOMM control from VB6, but it gives the same results. In de-bugging mode, all of the inputs, decimal and hex seem to be correct, so the problem must come in after you click the command button, but before it leaves the COM port.

My company's main software package includes a hefty configuration library which loads on startup. This config library includes some mandatory settings which, if not supplied (via command line arguments), cause the entire application to exit.
This has never been an issue for our users, who launch the software via scripts which have the needed command line arguments supplied automatically. But sometimes when debugging our software we developers forget to specify the necessary arguments in Visual Studio's debug options; it's then very annoying to be greeted with the message Config specification invalid -- missing required parameters X, Y, and Z -- shutting down (I'm paraphrasing, of course).[code]...
