Change / Read A Value (string - Integer) In All Forms
Feb 5, 2011
I would like to know how can I use (read and write) a value in each of my forms. To make it clear: I have 2 forms, Form1 and Form2. I've a string, called string1. If I use in Class Form1 (e.g. at Form1 load) Dim String1 As String, Form2 can't read or change it, because it only exists in Form1. So I would like to have a, let say "general value", a (for example) string, which every form can read&write.
Is there a way to change the display type in a DataGridView. For example the cell has a value of 1, I would like to change that value to display "Weekly" on the DataGridView.
I need to get the AVG of a column in my database i am retrieving. (.csv) I tried using the datatable.compute method but it doesnt work because my data in column is numbers in string format.So i need to either run another query and have the data in integer format?or change the column to integer format? I don't know I am asking as I am brand new to VB and programming for that matter.
This function doesn't work if I change the input argument 'pdu' from a string to an int.Would someone please help me figure out what to do here so that the checksum does not add the ascii value of the int argument but rather the actual integer value?I took out a few lines of the actual function but it adds the input argument to a packet sent out via TCP protocol.This function shows the integer value just fine in the string that gets encoded as a byte array. the checksum is wrong.!
''Public Function buildpacket(pdu As Integer) is what I want. Public Function buildpacket(pdu As String) Dim packet As String
I have 2 forms, frm1 and frm2. frm1 has a combobox, cboLocations and based on what selection is made here, frm2 is loaded and its combobox, cboOffices is populated. I currently have the following code on frm1:
Dim frm2 as New form(cboLocations.SelectedValue.ToString) frm2.ShowDialog()
When running, I'm getting an InvalidCastException was unhandled...Conversion from string "System.DataDataRowView" to type 'Integer' is not valid." error.
I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String)) Passed = 0 FailedProducts = Nothing
I'm trying to set an Integer value from my.settings.The values comes frpm a listbox, and then inserted to settings (set to specialized.StringCollection)The problem is when i'm trying to get the values and apply them to my function.Error code: Conversion from string "65 & 71" to type 'Integer' is not valid.To me it looks right, but maybe i'm missing something.
Code: Dim test2 As Integer Dim test As System.Windows.Forms.Keysm trigglist As New StringBuilderor Each item As String In
I have the code below that reads 7 chars from the address "00ea54e8" that belong to another process. This one works perfectly.
My problem is that I need another subroutine to read a 4 byte integger from the address "01640850". Since this code is made by peaces I found on the Internet I just can't figure out how to make it work.
Private Declare Function OpenProcess Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwDesiredAccess As Int32, ByVal bInheritHandle As Int32, ByVal dwProcessId As Int32) As Int32 Private Declare Function ReadProcessMemory Lib "kernel32" Alias
I'm reading the registry values under the uninstall registry keys. I use string variables to store the program name and program version. This usually works fine but for example Firefox 10.0 appears to be less the Firefox 9 since the version is a string value. V is the string variable that stores the DisplayVersion found in the registry is there a way to read registry valuables to integer?[code]..
how can i convert these datatypes: date to string and integer to string.Because it must be in a string datatype when I display it in a datetimepicker and textbox.
I need to parse a binary stream in .NET to convert a 16 byte unsigned integer. I would like to use the BinaryReader.ReadUIntXX() functions but there isn't a BinaryReader.ReadUInt128() function available. I assume I will have to roll my own function using the ReadByte function and build an array but I don't know if this is the most efficient method?
The first problem I have now is how to add all the data to the combobox from access 2007? [I have solved this myself accidentally.]
The second problem I have is I cannot save the primary key.
Assume that I have these: Table name: tCustomer Fields: ID Datatype [Text]
[Code]....
Now, the user fills in the form. The ID cannot be edited by them where it's automatically counts the number of customer in database and give the id. For example, I already have 3 customers in the database so when I add new Customer, it will be 4 for the ID.
When I click save, it shows me the message of "Index or primary key cannot contain a Null value." I have set an input mask for my Customer. So, can I make it to save in a format like CT001, CT002, CT003 automatically?
Iam trying to write code that read integer numbers from user (intered in form) and put it in array and then i will do some calcuation.I declare The array z and index of array p at begining of the class (global), I dont specify the size of arry couz that it depend on user.
If CInt(l1.Text) >= 0 Then z(p) = CInt(l1.Text.ToUpper) l1.Clear() l1.Focus()
I have a form with a large number of buttons on it, each named btn1 through btn25. I have another button that is generating a random number and saving it to an integer variable intDrawn.
I'd like to know if there's a simple way to alter a particular button based on the result in intDrawn; if intDrawn = 5, then I want to change the font in btn5, for example.
Is there a way to alter a control programmatically like this? I'm using Visual Basic Express 2008.
Using late binding i have set the numericupdown maximum to the column's count of the excel worksheet. Now the Min and Max of NumUpDn is 1 and 16384.
Now i want to change the numeric value to column name i.e if the user selects 1 then "A" , if 26 then "Z" ,if 27 then "AA"...200=>GR till 16384 (if excel 2007) till 256( if excel<2007)
I am saving scores form my game in to a dadt base but the game involves answering questions mid game that pop up in a seperate for so I have two scores a question score and a game score and at game over i want the two scores to add up and be displayed in one labe wich appers on the game form when my count down hits 0 so I tryed to add them
heres is the game code
Public Class frmplay Dim score As Integer Dim total_score As Integer
[Code].....
so I want to add correct answer to score and display it in a label thatwill show on my game form
My problem is that I have two forms, Form1 and Form2 ...on Form1 there is a TextBox called txtTotal (this contains the calculation of Ticket Prices, thus it's a numeric value) and on Form2 there is a TextBox called txtTotal2. All I want to do is get the same number that appears in txtTotal on Form1 to appear in txtTotal2 on Form2 .However whenever I try some of the help tips online such as using a declaring txtTotal as global or friend it dosn't work, and any other code iv tried attempts pass the textbox value as String which brings an error.
I'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why.
I have a question regarding using a TextBox in second form within the same project. Currently I am using two forms. From the main form you can click a button which opens the second form. There, I want to type in an integer value into a textbox and use it for the code in my first form. Here's my
I want to build a system that will take the input from an electric guitar and capture the frequency of the sound. and when the frequency is captured, the system identify the chord, and create new controls to represent the audio frequency. i want to use the label as the controls. so when the controls is created, how can i know that the user is click on what label. is there something like label1.click in vb 2005 express? then when the label is all created, i want the system to read all the labels integer as the sound of midi. so i have to assign what integer for what sound.
I have designed a form with textboxes for numerical entry. I need to validate each textbox so the number entered is an integer, and is between 0-1000. I am struggling to find how to validate the data entry.
Essentially, I didn't want to put the f in there, just wanted to do 01. The way this will be called is:
Select Case (nRecordType) Case "01" ... Case "02"[code].....
Because I'm not making an instance of it and not calling a constructor, there's no way to autopopulate a Dictionary.And I don't want to convert to integer so I'm not going to do an array. That is just in case eventually the value gets above 99 and the next value would be A0.I'm trying to think of easy future changes to this and backwards compatability.If you need more explanations, let me know.
Edit 2:This is what I've done now and I think it should work:
Public Class Part Private Shared columnCounts As Dictionary(Of String, Integer) = New Dictionary(Of String, Integer) Public Shared Function ValidateColumns(ByRef lstFiels As List(Of String)) As Boolean[code]....
I can't verify that it's going to do what I want to, but it doesn't give me an error when I build it so I'm crossing my fingers.
I get an InvalidCastException was unhandled on converting the .value to .text but I can't figure out how to convert it. Tried a few different ways but nothing seems to work. load a file from disk and have that be assigned to the trackbar.value?
Dim FileName = (App_Path() & "SettingsPingTimeout.txt") If File.Exists(FileName) Then lblPingTimeout.Text = "Ping Timeout: " &
