I am on my second project. I made the mistake of trying to use my first project as a template thinking there was a 'Save All As...' which I found there wasn't.
I went through the whole project and now it is forcing me to use the folder names that everything is saved in from my first project and my professor wants the directories named a certain way.
If I try and change the names of the folders, then upon re-opening my solution I get errors because the directory has changed.
Is there a way for me to change the directory names and not have my program fall apart? Or re-direct it where to look after I change the folder names?
I think it was Joshdbr) a long time ago a directory rename program. However, I need help changing this to a file rename program. Our work directory will have a root folder, subfolder and .tif images:
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Setup project. I need to copy one folder and the sub folders into the program files but when I tried to copy or add the folder to "Application Folder" in File System editor, I am able to add only files and not folders.
Anybody here work with Nodes is a TreeView? I have a tree structure and need to enable editing to the selected Node. I have a String Variable where the enduser can Type in a new Folder name, click ok and the structure gets made. But I need the Node Name to follow suit. The only way I know how to enable editing is:
What I'm trying to achieve is for a file to be copied from a templates folder to a project folder. The project folder path is constructed using the selected item in a combo box and a list box.
If I have a .dll, isn't it I can place it in a folder providing that the folder is included in the project? since I really do have a problem during publishing.
Lets say we have an Access file in a well known path (i.e. "C:MyFolderMyFile.mdb"). That file does not have a primary key set on the table we are interested in . Is it possible to set one of the fields as a primary key (for example the "ID" field , which is also an AutoNumber data) ? And one more thing : I'd like to change the name of a field on that table . For example , lets say there is a field called "My Field 1" (note the space characters) and we want it to be renamed as "My_Field_1" . If it's possible , I'd like both these changes to be permanent in the data base file itself , not just in the imported DataSet ,
I am writing a mini folder compare program to compare files in 2 folders . I have sort of completed writing the application just that i dont know how to code for one particular part which is getting and comparing files in subfolder ( which mean my application doesnt goes into sub folder to get files name only the parent folder )
Private Sub showItems(ByVal gui As ListView, ByVal folder As String) With gui gui.Items.Clear()
I have copied a folder with a project renaming the folder. I have then browsed and opened the project in the VB.Net 2005 IDE. I have then renamed the Assembly, root namespace, solution and project, searched and replaced all instances of original name, cleaned, rebuilt, tried deleting the bin and obj folders and rebuilt. But every time I run the newly named exe, when I try and start the original exe along side it nothing happens. it still thinks that the old exe is the same process? Both solutions are single instance applications. Why does it still think they are the same. I want the renamed copy to have slightly different functionality to cater for a different type of user but can't get both exe's to run at the same time which some users need. I can't see anywhere I have not changed the name for the new version.
i have a form where there is a textbox where we can put the nameof the folder.and it wil put all the names of the folder in a text file say c:log.txt (but this is going to be in the background).
And in the foreground usercan select another folder.
I have a winform that has one combobox. I want to populate that it with a list of folders in a directory. I thought this might be a common thing but I have not found any thing concerning this. For this example lets say the root folder is C:TestingFolder ListIn the folder "Folder List" directory there are 5 folders as such:
I'm fairly new to programming and have little to no experience with sql and file transfers. Here's what I'm trying to do: 1. Link my program to a database containing images (or pathnames to images) 2. Allow user to select a starting image and ending image (max 50) based on image numbers (which they already know) 3. Collect selected images from DB or could just be a copy of the image. 4. Export images to a new folder so that my other program can process and OCR them I have the form built, but I just can't figure this out.
I have a folder with a bunch of different files in it, and I want to display each file name on a line in a single textbox (or block, i don't care) so that the user knows what files are available to be read from. The name and number of files within the folder will change frequently, so making a .txt file with all of the file names wouldn't be an acceptable solution.
I'm having some trouble with list boxes at the moment. I need a list box to display the names of directories that are in certain a folder. How can I do this?
I'm working on a project. It is a windows form app which has a webbrowser. The app navigates to a url automatically, checks the url's document, and jumps to another url (depends on the document). It works fine. But, now, the problem is the project needs check many urls, so, I'm trying to make it as a MDI form project. when the start button clicked, it create a control thread, in the thread, it launchs 10 MDI forms (within main form), each form does the work for different urls. once done, then launch the next 10 urls.
It works. However, I noticed that, although 10 MDI forms are open, the navigating part in their webbrowser seems run in sequencial. I thought these 10 MDI forms will load 10 urls at the same time, do the work at the same time, but I found that it seems they do load urls one by one, not at the same time.so, I did some research, it seems webbrowser can only be run STA mode. does it mean I can not use multithread to load different urls at the same time?basically, I want to have a multi tab webbrowser, and navigate to different urls in these tabs at the same time.
i'm still needing help to my "Download file names into Combobox1 from webserver's folder".I have folder at my webserver http://127.0.0.1/FolderName/ and inside my folder is alot of .txt files and here is few of them: A,B,C and D.txt file.
So when form loads i want my application download file names what are in my webserver folder TO Combobox1 then Combobox1 may look like this.
I'm writing a VB program that will delete the contents of several folders, but it leaves the top folder. For example, after graduation and summer school, we delete the folders that belong to the (now) prior students. Also, we retain the folders for the returning students, but we delete the contents of their folders. Every year, all students start out with empty folders. We do this practice to manage our disk space.
With a read-only file, via code, I first change the attributes of the file to normal and then delete it, via
I'm killing myself and dehydrating trying to get this array to sort.I have an array containing directories generated by;Dim Folders() As String = Directory.GetDirectories(RootPath)
I need them to be sorted so they appear like in windows explorer in win7 / vista. -- numerically and alphabetically by folder names. The folder names contain both letters and numbers, sometimes letters only or numbers only.
Is there a way to enforce case sensitivity in VB.Net file-names?
The primary issue that I am trying to solve is the difference in how Windows doesn't care about the case of a file-name, but other tools, like Subversion, do care about the case of a file-name
I have two projects that contain extension methods. One project is implemented using C# and the other is implemented using VB.NET as there are some things I can do in VB.NET that I can't in C# and I want to leverage those features in my extension methods. How can I name the projects to convey their meaning while at the same time differentiating that they are implemented in different languages? For the C# elitists:One of the features that VB.NET supports that C# doesn't:Doesn't C# Extension Methods allow passing parameters by reference?FYI: This doesn't work for reference types, which is what I'm interested in.
public static void LoadFromXml<T>(this T targetObject, string xml) { targetObject = _Serializer.DeserializeFromXML<T>(xml); }
i have a project and wish to use a setup file that installs all required software .net etc . I can manage this using the publish function .But i also need to add a couple of csv files to the installation.
change the installation folder to program files instead of application files . I think i need to use the setup and deployment and add a new project using "visual studio installer" .This as far as i have got i can not seem to create a setup (the one i built just hangs)
I have a VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2010 for an Excel Add-In.I use the "My" namespace, and in general it seems that the "My Project" folder contains configuration information about the project. My problem is that I need to change the name of this folder, because my version manager system won't accept spaces in file or folder names.Edit: There is a hacky way to do it, by renaming the folder and changing all references in the .vbproj file. However, the may work for a command line generation, but it won't work the next time the project will be opened in Visual Studio. The IDE will create a new "My Project" folder, and complain that it can't find the settings in it.
It's just a small calculator project so it's no big deal, but after I had built the project, I wanted to change the project name and all the file names that had that string in it (and all internal references to that string). I had played with this before and knew that it was asking for trouble but I thought, "What the hell, I'll try it again." feeling a bit brash.
Well, everything works fine in debug mode, but there is this DOS window that pops up just before the main form does, and it doesn't go away for the entire debugging session. I think I see that window pop up on all other projects too (if the main form doesn't cover it up completely), but normally, it's only there for a split second.
Hi everyone. I'm new to VB8 and I have been learning as much as I could. I goal is to create an application where I can drag and drop a folder and then an icon that i want the current folder icon to change to- all this for vista/W7. My goal is to create the "desktop.ini" to change the folder icon as well as have vista/W7 recognize the change.
I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express. I want to put an icon my Application to make it look better instead of the regular
I have the picture saved as an .ICO so i can insert it but i want it like this... how would i go about changing the icon for the project file?
I actually don't care so much about the name of the project as I do the .exe it builds. So I went into the project properties, goto the Application tab and change the Assembly name. But when I build, it loses the resources I've included. It builds w/o errors, but the icon's and pictures I've included are not in the program, and then the IDE gives me errors telling me it can't find those files.
I do have those resources in the program, their persistence is set to "Embedded in .resx" and their Build Action is set to "Resource". They work fine in the designer and show properly, and they build and show fine w/o changing the Assembly name.
