i have a form where there is a textbox where we can put the nameof the folder.and it wil put all the names of the folder in a text file say c:log.txt (but this is going to be in the background).
And in the foreground usercan select another folder.
Can we have the code to deal with that?

The name and number of files within the folder will change frequently, so making a .txt file with all of the file names wouldn't be an acceptable solution.

I am attempting to gather a group of file names from a directory. I am able to do this. I tested the code by having the list populate into a listbox and all desired items were added to the list.

How to make a text file importer, I want to know how to import list of names from the text file to import it to the listbox component by using browse commands and button. And by using webbrowse component to load the link [URL] and insert the name selected from listbox from loaded names on the text box of my url and click the button signup.

View 2 RepliesHere is the code for my program. We are making a membership list and it needs to load with just the names in the txt file that is in the debug bin. The txt file is set up in one column and holds the member name and the next line is member number and so on. Information is read into an "array of structures" and the display is supposed to be ONLY the names in the listbox on load. This is my problem. I had it displaying all th txt file info and I just need the names. I tried what you will see in the code but it is not working and my book is less then helpful when it comes to examples and/or knowledge on the subject. I am able to open the file in text editor but not getting the names and ages when typing it in the text box and clicking my "write button" or the file menu write. Everything else seems to be working fine with the exception of getting my message box twice from the event load. 1. Link my program to a database containing images (or pathnames to images)
2. Allow user to select a starting image and ending image (max 50) based on image numbers (which they already know)

I am working on a program using VB.Net 2010 which will enable me to setup groups of files & folders for back up with syncing capabilities etc. I have a concept program which is based on some sample code I found out in one of the VB.Net forums. I have modified it from a command line based program to a form based program. At the moment I consider this code to be a "concept" program which once I have the various copy/sync routines developed and debugged will be integrated in to another program I wrote for
creating "Back Up" groups to automate the process. There are some 3rd party programs that do similar things that I want to do such as Microsofts Sync Toy, but none of them offer the grouping and exclusions options that I am going to program in to this backup/sync program.
So here is my problem, I have the included code taking two folders, a source and a destination, and copying everything from the source to the destination. It will skip over any unchanged files/folders and will delete anything found in the destination folder that is not found in the source folder and it will update all files in the destination folder that have a newer version in the source folder. In other words it will mirror image the source to the destination but will be smart enough not to copy unchanged items from the source to the destination thereby saving a lot of time. The sync part of the program is working fine, the displaying of the progress and results is not.

i have created a program to view images in a picturebox, i have created two list box's one for folder names/image areas to group certaint images and the second listbox to list the number of pages contained in the image folder/area. when the user creates a new image area, he or she can name it whatever they want, when they do that i would like to create a folder in the c drive for instance with the same name as the image area, and i would want it to create a .txt file aswell to keep memory of what they have done, so when they come back to it the next day they can just carry on from where they left off.

This work fine and create default text files into Program Files Folder for winodw 7/vista .but can not modify these files or create any new files.There are few text files need to create ,modify during application running ,but in windows 7/vista unable to create,modify files.I am using full default admin right for these OS. If iuse C: root path then application work fine or for win XP no problem.I think UAC restricting to perform these opeartion. But i do not know how to change these restriction using vb.net, whenever application start.
