I've been trying to fix this for a while now and have yet to find a solution that works, I want it so that when an item is added another of the same name cannot be added. Here's what I have
Dim i As Integer
For i = 0 To ComboBox1.Items.Count() - 1
If ComboBox1.Items.Item(i) = TextBox1.Text Then
'do nothing
Else
I can't populate my combobox with ANYTHING I code, and I don't like the click and pull system. it compiles, no exceptions, but it still doesn't populate my combo... this is the code
I want to check if two combobox values are equal. The comboboxes are in a datagridview.I found you need to use datagridview_EditingControlShowing to add a handler to the comobo boxes for selectedindexchanged. I can do this with this code.
Code: Private Sub dgridRegisters_EditingControlShowing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewEditingControlShowingEventArgs) Handles dgridRegisters.EditingControlShowing Dim combo As ComboBox = CType(e.Control, ComboBox)
[code]....
However, the message box comes up for every combobox in my datagrid when I change the index, not just the cmbPort2. I would like to have something like this...
If cmbPort1.selectedindex == cmbport2.selectedindex then 'do something endif
How I could go about checking a typed value in a combo to the values in the combo box. I am making a system to select lockerID and Supplier ID I want the user to be able to enter the value in the combo box as well as select the value form the list in the combo box. Here is the code I have been trying.
If cboStockID.Text = "" And cboStockID.Text <> cboStockID.Items.ToString Then MsgBox("Please enter Stock ID") Exit Sub ElseIf cboSupplierID.Text = "" Then MsgBox("Please Enter Supplier ID") Exit Sub End If
Can someone tell me why this code works exactley the opposite of the way I thought it should?

I have a combobox (cbKeyWords). I want to make sure tbAddEdit.Text does not already exist before I save. To me I should be testing for a False result not True. But the above code, goes to the msgbox if findstringexact=false and saves the data if it's true.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.
I'm making a combobox on a form. I want the combobox to have a list of choices from a table in a db. The two columns are a String and a Date. I want the date column to only show the year. I'm hoping I have the code right as it is above, but I'm not positive I've done the whole date thing right.
I have a checkedlistbox with numbers in it and I'm trying to load a list of numbers from a database and check all of them (they should all be in the checkedlistbox).
I was trying to do this by loading all the values into a separate listbox using my own subroutine (I know that part works) and then finding the corresponding item on the checkedlistbox, like this:
Dim ItemName As String For Each item In ListBox1.Items ItemName = ListBox1.GetItemText(item) If CheckedListBox1.Items.Contains(ItemName) = true Then CheckedListBox1.SetItemChecked(CheckedListBox1.Items.IndexOf(ItemName), True) End If Next End If
But this doesn't work: It never returns a match, even when the item is definitely on the list. How do I make this work?
I am working on a program that gathers test scores from the user in the form of a list box (array preferably). I need to be able to check the user's entries to validate they are between 0-100. I have tried using If statements with a messagebox.show() error message. When the user enters an invalid entry the error messagebox pops up but after selecting ok the program moves on to the next test score.
The GetTestScores procedure gathers the students test scores from the user Sub GetTestScores(ByRef intTestScores() As Integer) Dim intCounter As Integer = 0
I am trying to check where an item in my array list exists in the database. The list would have already been created at an earlier stage. Now that some items may have been removed from the database, I wish to check the list against that database before removing the items, from the list, which are no longer in the database. The following code removes all items from the list rather than just each one which doesnt exist.[code]....

I've never really used the Check List Box in the past, however, for the recent program I am developing, I am using this control rather than individual check boxes scattered across the form.Anyway, I want to be able to program through code which items get checked in this checked list box. Specifically, I have a variable that contains the text of each check box that I want checked. With a normal check box, I can simply say:
Dim strNames As String strNames = "John Doe, Mark Johnson, Mike Brown, Cindy Smith" If strNames.ToString.Contains("Mike Brown") Then[code]....
