I have a combo box that I want to manipulate the text shown in the combo box after the combo box loses focus. So I created code in the next textbox that gets focus after the combo box to manipulate the data in the combo box text display
I have a User Control that contains a Button. This button works for the first click. But the Click Event is not fired in the second click. Here's my code:
I have a gridview and add one rows using RowDataBound. This appears twice. So I print out e.Row.RowType, it shows "header header dataRow dataRow footer footer".It was fired twice somereason. Why this event fire twice? [code]
I have a mixed DGV of bound fields and an unbound checkbox. The DGV uses an SQL statement with a Group By clause. I then populate the DGV via table adapter/DS. So, I have two issues, first I need to get the status from another table that has the value of 0 or 1 in a column and set that checkbox. The part number already loaded into a cell will link to this table. I cannot link this table directly to my Group By table because it would lose its logic. The second issue, is changing the checkbox and saving it both to this table and the DGV for display.
I'm confused at which events in the DGV will need to be fired to do these tasks? This code seems to work OK but seems to run a little slow. So, i'm wondering if my approach to this is incorrect.
Private Sub DGVAdviceSummary_CellValueNeeded(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellValueEventArgs) Handles DGVAdviceSummary.CellValueNeeded
Work = New ExampleWork()Here the Work is a withevents variable and I've used the handles clause for handling various events fired by the ExampleWork object. However the event handler will not get assigned till the constructor of the ExampleWork returns. Now how can I handle any events fired from the constructor? I can move the constructor logic out to a separate method and call it after the constructor has returned and thus handle all the fired events including events fired from constructor. However it doesn't look good
I have VC++ windows service running on a windows 2008 server which invokes a VB.NET exe with certain comandline parameters using CreateProcess(). VB.NET application has a form wich uses WithEvents to handle certain event. These event handlers are set in the Forms Load event. Problem here is when i debug the VB.NET application individually the application works fine, Forms Load event is getting fired. But when the exe is invoked via the windows service the form Load event does not get fired. Note the Forms Show function called and not showdialogue.
Why this was done i am not sure it was a VB 6.0 code which i have converted to VB.NET. But everything works fine when i debug the application individually on windows 2008 64 bit.
I have a datagridview that completely updates anytime changes are made to it. It is not connected to a source but rather the datagrid is filled when first launched.
I have a navigation bar which is dynamically populated with LinkButtons by an ASP repeaterControl.I have no problem accessing, and setting properties for the clicked LinkButton. This I can do using the sender object from the fired LinkButton. Once a LinkButton is clicked, it is highlighted in bold.
My problem is to clear the bold property of the previously clicked linkButton when a new LinkButton ( another RepeaterItem within the same repeater) is clicked. I cannot access the buttons through their ID, since they all have the same ID within the repeater. I have unique arguments on each RepeaterItem (CommandArgument), but when I try to iterate through all linkbuttons, only static linkbuttons are found, none inside the repeater. See below:
Dim c As Control For Each c In Form1.Controls If TypeOf c Is LinkButton Then MsgBox(DirectCast(c, LinkButton).CommandArgument) End If Next c
[VS 2010 Beta with .Net Framework 3.5]I've written a C# component to asynchronously monitor a socket and raise events when data is received. I set the VB form to show message boxes when the event is raised. What I've noticed is that when the component raises the event synchronously, the message box blocks the component code and locks the form until the user closes the message. When it's raised asynchronously, it neither blocks the code, nor locks the form.
What I want is a way to raise an event in such a way that it does not block the code, but is called on the same thread as the form (so that it locks the form until the user selects an option.)
i want to implement trigger in my vb.net project i am using sql server 2005 that come with vs 2008. all that i need to do is i want to create database trigger that fired on every day at say for ex. 9:00 a.m.
I am developing application which will read credit card no without generating keystrokes for same in POS for .net. I can enable device but when I swipe a card MSR_Dataevent is not firing. EDIT: I have done below code:
I'm using Systray for MDIform. The problem that I'm facing is MDIForm_MouseMove event sometimes doesn't get fired and therefore application gets stuck. After several click then all of a sudden it works for few clicks and then again get stuck.
I'm creating a dynamic gridview in vb.net using a connected sql database. Everything works fine except 1 thing: when i click the update command, the event just won't fire no matter what I do. the gridview goes into edit mode and the cancel button works fine. This has cost me over 2 days of googling but none of the solutions work. I used breakpoints to check if the code was executed, but it wasn't. If anybody has any experience in this:I believe the problem lies in the addhandler but it doesn't give any errors.I forgot to mention that the sql command was a test and sets the data in that field to 15, now it's 10, it works when i use a normal button or a static gridview.
Public Class WebForm1 Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Dim rowscount As Integer = 2
I found this code on another thread that fires an event when new email is received. Is there an event that I can add when an email is sent? How can i find how to call this one? Tried searching and can't find it.
I'm developing custom .net themes, and this relies on GDI+ -- I've been able to do this mainly with a ThemeBase released on another website. Now, however, whilst inheriting another control, I am Unable to inherit the ThemeBase which means I have to design the control a little differently -- which relies on me being able to manipulate the 'OnPaint' event of the control's design. The control's 'OnPaint' event is never fired, and I don't know why. Here's the entire textbox code.[code]
I am back with a problem again I have a grid and I am trying to implement sort for it.Basically I have binded the data manually to the grid now my problem is I do not know the code to be written for the sorting event:( some how managed to get the code for the page indexing :-/,...doesnot have much idea!! could you !!"experts" help me out by giving me some hint or sample code in VB.Net:icon_exclaim: unable go ahead further:
created a control inheriting a textbox. it is used to format a datetime data. i created a custom property DateTimeFormatMask which is "MM/dd/yyyy" by default. problem i'm having is that when datatable is filled by adapter and the textbox is populated with the data, it is not formatted..i placed the codes that formats the data in the Validating Event which doesn't seem to be triggered at this point.below is my code on my
I'm having an issue where my main form isn't updating even though I see the event fire off. Let me explain the situation and share some of my code which I'm sure will be horrible since I'm an amateur. I created a class to take in the settings for running a process in the background. I add some custom events in that class so I could use that in my form instead of a timer.
Is there an event that I can handle that is fired when the computers system time is changed?
My program timestamps things, and I want to make sure the time is correct. So when the program starts, I will run a query (SELECT GETDATE()) from my SQL server, and record the difference, in seconds, between the SQL server time, and the time returned from NOW(). Then when I timestamp things, I will just adjust the time. I cannot run a query every time. But, if someone changes the clock on the computer, that would throw the timestamp off. So I need a way to know when this has happened, so I can recalculate the difference.
in a winform, in vb net,I have a list view with hoverselection set to true. I start a drag and drop operation when the mousedown event is fired, but it's fired only when i release the mouse button on the control or on the dropped control! is it a normal behavior?
I've been thinking about my options when it comes to events in vb.net.What I'd like to do is to track events that are fired in an application without explicitly declaring them with 'handles' sub. Here is a pseudo-[code]....
Yeah I know, not quite working, but is there any way of implementing something like this in vb.net? My end game is really to be able to monitor events fired in many objects from another object, isn't there a more maintainable way to do that then to add a special sub in each object that handles the event that I want to catch? I need some way to let one object handle events fired in other objects without a special sub, the AddHandler goes a long way, but I can't really use that dynamically like so:[code]....
When the user clicks a cell in a new row (the row headed by the *) I am populating a column with an integer that is incremented in the "DefaultValuesNeeded" event. However, when the user clicks off the row (having done nothing to the row), what event gets fired? I need to decrement my counter but can't locate an appropriate place to do it.
I have a project which has a couple of tabs on form, an usercontrol is on the 2nd tab, when the form loads, i want the load event method of the usercontrol to fire, and the message box should pop up.Please see the attach file, the message box only pop up after the form is loaded and the 2nd tab is clicked, not when just the parent form is loaded.
why does finalize not get fired when i try to destroy a class until the application is exiting. i feel like because these objects were never actually finalized until the program is exiting that its somehow bogging down the operation of my app VS 2008?
i wanted to link options selected from Comb box A (general) to specific options in combo box B (specific). I want to pick a word in Combo box A that has specific words/phrases in Combo Box B show. But not all the words to show in the combo box B if they aren't associated with the Word picked in Combo Box A. Ex.When "Soda" is picked in A, only "Coke, Sprite, Fanta" should be visible in combo box b, not everything else. This is the code i used to make the boxes, but i don't know how to link them.
Private Sub MainForm_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ' fills the combo boxes with values Me.xGeneralComboBox.Items.Add("Soda") Me.xGeneralComboBox.Items.Add("Juice")
How to use a databound combo box to display one field in the drop down, and another as the combo box text on roll up? Using VS 2005... For example, I have a datatable that has 2 fields. One called "ShortDesc" and one called "LongDesc". I want to be able to see the "LongDesc" column values in the drop down on the combo box. When I make a selection, I want the text in the combo box to read the corresponding "ShortDesc" value.
