Communications :: Connect To Several URLS At The Same Time And Add Information To A Listview?

im trying to make a program that connects to several websites and parses some information out and then add the information to a listview list.The listview have 2 columns: Site and Nuts. So i load a bunch with urls in the site columns (that isnt a problem) but the problem is to take 5 websites at the same time and connect to them and then write "OK" in the Nuts columns.
In VB6 i could easily make 5 sockets, and then move down five items in the listview, save each of the listview text to a variable and connect to each variable with different socket, but how i add the information to the column "Nuts" is also a challenge in vb6. In the other hand, in vb.net i haven't yet got the skills to do so.

I have a list of 100,000 urls in list(Of string) which can contain urls in the form. [URL] i have tried using a combination of regex and the Uri class, but that didn't help, so i dumped the code. How do i filter these duplicates and keep just one of these url

I am trying to figure out how to show the round trip time it took to ping a server. I know the following code conducts the ping and that the 1000 is for the miliseconds however I can't seem to figure out how to capture the time it took.

So i am writing something for work, and i was roaming the internet to see how to do it in vb.net, but it seems to really not have many hits. vb.net doesnt recognize Declare and all information points to things that say Private Declare Function [info]What i was wanting to do is to check if a computer has a DSN card in system DSN's, if it has it use the information and connect, otherwise, quit the program.
Do you know where i can find how to do this? I just need to check for the existance, i dont need to make them.All of my search results, while seemingly useful, were not written for vb.net I want to get something up here specifically for vb.net so we can get more search hits. i find more information, i will post it, but it doesnt seem to be going too far in the vb.net department, as it is in .net

I m into automation development of FMCG products using Micro-controllers. I get real time data Barcode 2D from TCP/IP connection. My task is to compare the result do some Computation with them and Store the incoming Barcode and results into a Excel sheet in a folder. I m successful with the basic working. Am currently working at slow speed of 1 barcode(22 char info) per second from the TCP/IP data (barcode scanner). Now, comes the real issue. I need to process atleast 5 barcodes per sec ( <200ms per process). I m partially successful with 3 Barcode per second(300 ms per process). so, thats like 300ms per processing. I need to achieve less than 200ms for entire processing. I have used threads and timers. but I m unable to achieve. Seems like storing in Excel takes more than 250ms. Since i come from micro controllers background 1msec is a lotta time to process for me. I m not sure how much time does it take and trust me i find it difficult to guage the time here.

Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I have a relatively simple Listview that suddenly needs (due to new requirements) to have it's 'layout' extracted to a DataTable so that a common routine can convert it to an Excel spreadsheet for export purposes.The ItemTemplate is just a series of Table Rows with some text, data-bound labels and textboxes with validators in the cells.Usually, when trying to pull out a particular value (like what was entered into a text box), I use the ListViewItem's .FindControl method.

I get the sense I'm headed in the wrong direction. All I want is for the nicely-formatted 5-line, 6 column table to be converted to a 5-line, 6-column data table.

I'm having a problem with loading my MS Access Database. I can get it to load but it won't load in a row. My friend told me to try this but it puts all the information in a column instead of putting all the information spread out accross the row.

I'm trying to add information to a ListView from a BackgroundWorker thread. I thought I could do this in this manner:

When I attempt to run the "test" sub the BackgroundWorker, I get an error:
Argument not specified for parameter 'lvi' of 'Public Syb test(lvi as System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem)'.
Is there something I need to specify when declaring the sub, or in the sub itself?

My objective is to connect my application to a database for the first time. I've never done this before so it's essentially a learning exercise. Within visual studio i've followed the "Connect to database" in the Tools tab and followed the connection wizard. My understanding is i need to connect to my local sql server (this may be incorrect) and i cant find it. I'm not sure how to even get started, what do i need to download in order to create a database on my laptop?

I have been working on this for days and cannot figure out whats going on. I have a listview that displays information from a database. The program takes care of the rest. It's a reminder program that shows the next month due,days remaining, months remaining, and name. I have the program where I want it and it work great, but I want to add a bi-weekly to it.

I am using VB2008 Express and am curious how to send a command via RS232 communications. The string that I need to send is 02h PON 03h. The start and end bits are 02h and 03h.
How can I convert 02h and 03h to its ascii form. In hyperterminal, I use the sequence {(hold)ALT 0 0 2} on the number pad to send the start bit.

I am trying to create a list that will add information each time someone submits the form. I keep getting the error:Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index..I know I am getting the values passed from the Class since I can output it to a message box.
