Control On Form "not Declared"

Jan 25, 2009

I have a DataGridView on my form in a tab control. For quite some time during development it worked just fine. Now, for reasons I can't pin down, when I reference it in code, I get the design time error "Name XXXX is not declared." The control is on the form, and I can work with its properties in the properties window just fine. I have also created a new one, and set very similar, at the least, properties, but that one does not work either. When I drag a brand new one on the form, it works just fine. I just don't know what property is breaking it.

Is there something particular I should look for here? If there is a way to post a list of it's properties I will.

Public Declared Control To Be As Value Cache?

Apr 9, 2011

I have a form intended to generate serial number and this serial number will be distributed to the other forms. I use to pass the serial number to the other forms this way:

if frm1.visible = true then frm1.txtserial.text = frmserial.txtgenserial.text
if frm2.visible = true then frm2.txtserial.text = frmserial.txtgenserial.text
if frm3.visible = true then frm3.txtserial.text = frmserial.txtgenserial.text

and so on....I want to have a method that will ease the method above. Is there a way to declare a txtgenserial textbox globally and the other forms will just refer to it?ex. Public genserial(tb as textbox)' that example is only a demo to what I wanted to get, this declaration is absolutely incorrect.

Forms - Accessing Declared Form From Another

Jul 18, 2009

Basically what I need to do is change a textbox on Form1 (AKA mainwin) from Form2 (AKA loginwin) using data that is inputted into Form2. I've done this before with applications by declaring Form1 in Form2, but this time I just get a NullReferenceException error. Here's the code I'm currently using for Form2. Maybe someone here can tell me why it's not working. [Code] I can't figure out why it's not working. I've used this same method before and it always worked.

Forms Designer - Controls Declared But Not Appearing On Form - Can't Even Rename

Jun 22, 2010

I am desinging a form with mutiple controls on a tab page control and was moving controls between tab pages by cutting and pasting them. The forms designer obviously got confused at some stage and I now have controls that are declared in the designer.vb but do not appear anywhere on the form.

I can't even rename the controls that are there which have been given generic names to the names I want because they apparently already exist. I realise I could edit the designer.vb and remove the references to these controls but that seems fraught with danger?

VS 2008 - Draggable Control And AutoScroll - Allow Moving A Control On A Form At Run-time

The following code works perfectly to allow moving a control on a form at run-time. However, when AutoScroll is set to True on Form1, and you drag Button1 past the right and/or bottom bounds of the form, it goes haywire. I really need someway to smoothing control the autoscroll so that as you scroll the control off the form, the scrollbars smoothly appear.

Panel On A Main Form Containing A PictureBox Control On Top Of A TableLayout Control

Mar 15, 2010

I've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.

What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.

So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized

What am I missing?

Asp.net - Getting Form Field Names On Submit When Form Is User Control

Jan 30, 2009

I've created the beginnings of my new web application, but I am often coming up against the issue that ASP.NET renames elements IDs or in the case of form fields, their names.I have a form which is basically a sales system. It is essentially made up of two User Controls, one is a form for Customer Details (name, address etc) and the second is a form for the customer's purchases, it consists of a number lines dynamically created by Javascript created as you list the items the customer is purchasing. Both these sections are User Controls because they are to be used for other areas of the system where this data will need to be recalled/re-entered.When the USer Control is loaded, the field which contains the Customers' Name is renamed "m$mainContent$customerForm$name" I understand where this comes from, "m" is the ID of my Master Page, "mainContent" is the main Content Placeholder and "customerForm" is the name of the User Control.

In fact, in my case, this will always remain the same on all forms, so it is relative easy to overcome... but... suppose it wasn'tI can see there are ways I could deal with this with Javascript, but the form doesn't need an AJAX submit, a normal Post will do fine for this, so when I open up the recieving page I want to call Request.Form("name")% to save the customer's name into the database, but of course I really need Request.Form("m$mainContent$customerForm $name")%How would I dynamically extract those prefixes from the posting form to ensure that if I rename anything or use it in a different scenario, the problem will not break it?I am using .NET 2.0, so can't use Static Client.

Creating A Link From The Control In One Form To The Entire Nother Form?

I have another question (and anticipate that I will have about two more before I'm done with my class project). Here is my issue (and I'll copy and paste my code for clarification). I need to link up the control from the form on either side of the current form that I'm working on so that if I click on the buttons that I'm titling previous and next that I can click on the proper button and either go directly to the previous form or the next form. I was successful in doing this for two earlier forms on this project (with some direction from a couple of helpful people on this forum before), but for some reason, no matter what I details I use the controls do not connect to the previous and next forms.

Jun 3, 2009

What is the best way to access a value of a control within a form outside of the form class. I have a lot of functions defined in a module, one of these functions requires a series of values from controls in my main form such as the FolderBrowserDialog.SelectedPath element. I understand that these cannot be accessed in the format form.FolderBrowserDialog1.SelectedPath and that they need to be accessed using a delegate. This is the part I am stuck with.
