Controlling Where User Goes In A Simple Webbrowser?
Apr 11, 2011
I am currently working on some software for a taxi company, and we have been asked to create a webbrowser (only simple) for the users which we allow to use it, to view traffic updates from a website that we already know about.
But...
We dont want them to be able to navigate away from this site via links to google adverts Etc...
Basically we don't want them to be able to surf the net at all, only be able to work!
I thought this would be easy, and I'm sure it is... but I'm not getting the response I want.
Here's the code..
[Code]...
What I'm trying to do is load a URL and grab the text from it.The text on the file I'm using is simply a 1, that's all. However, when the messagebox shows, it's empty. I've tried using google.com as the URL and got the same response, so that means it's somewhere in my code here.
I need to know how to control an object inside a frame on a web page. Actually, all I need to do is to be able to change the innerHTML of the body of the frame. The frame's id is "content_ifr". I've tried using the "getElementByID" method of the document to get the frame, and then setting that frame's document's body's innerHTML, but it didn't work.
I have VS 2008 and am working in VB.Net forms.I have a webbrowser control where I am trying to control input fields that are dynamically created. If a text field has proper handles such as id and name tags there aren't any problems.
For example, I am trying to work with twitter for posts. I know twitter has an API but I want to work with many similar systems and want to avoid the API as its case specific and I want to scale things within the VB.Net form. The login fields for twitter are easily handled, however the posting field once your logged in is just a text area with a class. There is a tagname but I have been unable to post using the tagname element.Any examples of posting to twitter without the API ?
I have built some simple software using vb2008 and excel to automate the process of ordering material and keeping track of work in progress at my business...Once the product is complete, it moves into a stock room and waits for invoicing.I have a dedicated accounting package that is far more advanced than what I can program...I want to know if there is a way to control this package as if a user was moving around the screen and clicking and inputing info?Or another means of control?
I am trying to implement a controlling design logic that prompts the user for a length and the area to calculate until he or she enters a number less than zero in the length to end.So far I have it where I believe its doing the calculations but its not ending when I input a number less than zero or zero.
Sub Main() ' Declare Length As Float Dim Length As Double ' Declare s, c, t As Float
I need to make a very simple browser. The problem is that it has to be a WPF application because I'm using a SDK that does not support windows form applications. My question: is this possible and how? Is there some xaml to achieve this?
For the simple web browser I am creating I would like to have a combobox displaying different search engines and a button that would take the user to the selected search engine's website address.
Here is the code to load the search engine options: vb.net Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load ComboBox2.Items.AddRange({"Google", "DuckDuckGo", "Mahalo", "Ask"}) ComboBox2.SelectedIndex = 0 End Sub
Have experience with web scripting languages and SQL but am still getting used to VB.Currently using VS2008 to create a simple app in VB 2008 that uses a WebBrowser control. The user navigates to a web page, hits a button, and then every minute the web browser automatically refreshes, gets the page length, and alerts if the page length has changed by more than 100 chars.Unfortunately, I am noticing that VB uses the cached version of the page when it refreshes (I am using WebBrowser.Refresh, but have also tried using WebBrowser.Navigate(same page as before)). Is there any way that I can delete just that page in the cache without clearing the whole thing from my application before it reloads and calculates the new page length?
how to do a simple screen saver using VB.NET when the user do not use my application? DO i need to use API programming in order to do it?I just need a simple screen saver that will load my flash file (swf) into my webbrowser on my WinForm if the user no longer use my application.Note that this is a Window-base application, NOT web-based.
I've created an application, And now need to add the chat feature. It just needs to be basic, But im un sure on how to code one since i am still a beginner at Visual Basic. I know there is a way via TCP Listener using Net.Sockets, But im stuck there. I am totally out of my mind when i think ill know how to code. But here is how the chat will work[code]...
Server side, Is just to host it. I will host it on a windows vps with ports opened, and Anyone who downloads the program can connect to the chat. The username or Nickname of the user will come from 'My.Settings.username'. At this point I am willing to pay someone to code this project.
I'm trying to create a simple user tracking system so whoever has the program open can see who else has the program open. I know how to retrieve the username and everything. What I was doing was updating (loading and saving) a listbox with a text file on the network with the usernames in it. I can't get it to work right and I think its because the simultaneous opening and saving of the same text file by multiple users. I know this isn't technically the best way to go about doing this but it seemed like it should be the easiest. I don't want to make a huge project out of this because it isn't that important, it would just be nice.
create a simple control. The control have 1 label and 2 panels with images. The control needs to be clicked, the problem is i can create the click action for the control, i can only use internal click events. how to use it out of the control.
i was wondering how i can make a simple program that when for eg a user enters 4 it gives this figure **** and so i want that if the user enters 5 it gives ***** etc.
I need a simple snippet that will allow the user to test the connection for the FTP server entered in a textbox and the username and password from 2 other textboxes. (Server = TextBox1.Text, U/N TextBox2.Text, PW TextBox3.Text) I forgot to note something obvious - there's a "Test FTP" button
I've created a user control with a simple text box and a corresponding label and added a few custom control properties. When added to a form, I'm trying to loop through all control of this type and evaluate the custom property. In the below, the cntl.MyCustomProperty is not recognized. I can evaluate the property when I check each user control on the form by name, but not by using the loop below. I would much rather use the loop as it is much cleaner.
For Each cntl As Control In Me.Controls If (TypeOf cntl Is MyUserControl) And cntl.MyCustomProperty = "ABC" Then ''Do some stuff End If Next
I have one table here with a list of UserIDs, Users, and ClientCodes. Each user can be assigned a client code to view that client's data elsewhere. Right now I have to change it for everyone via SQL Server and actually going into the table manually, but I'm trying to make a simple little program that will let the user change it themselves. All I need is a textbox that pulls the user based on a certain UserID from the table, and a drop down list that will not only show the current ClientCode they're set to, but allow me to change it and save that change to the table in the database.
What's the best way to go about this? I tried using the wizards but I guess that's not the best way to go about it. I have it displaying the correct user and their current ClientCode but that's about it.
I wish to build and display a simple diagram that is built from data entered by the user. Because I can't post a picture of the types of diagrams here I'll use the following example. Image a picture of a house as a child might draw it a large square, with a triangle for a roof, a rectangle for a door, and two smaller squares for windows. Now I want to build an application that lets the user enter data and change that drawing according. For example, by entering the length and height of the house the size changes, change the number of windows, size of the door or height of the roof.
Now this may seem like a useless application but keep in mind the house is just an example the real purpose is different but should be as simply drawn. I'm looking for suggestions on make this work. Should I use a paint? or is something like this better done with a tie into the Visio references?
could anyone please help me with this1.Create a simple Times Table program which will allow the user to enter an integer value n (between 1 and 20) into a textbox. On the click of a button output to a label the n times tables. Use a For Next loop to perform the repetition.i can output them to a list box but only last one to a label ive been stuck for 3 days.
i am trying to make a simple Vb program for children to do simple maths, now im not sure im going about it the right way, i have stored all the questions in a database and have called them up to the form and that is working fine, i cant seem to get the right code to check the answer from the user against my stored answer, i am using txtBox to store my answer and a txtbox for the input
I am trying to develop a simple math calculator that will allow the user to input the right-hand-side (RHS) of an equation into a textbox on the application and have the application evaluate the expression for a given value of x, which is also input into the application by the user via another textbox. For example, if the user wants to evaluate the following expression,
y = 3 + 4*x + 5*x^2
then they would input into the textbox the RHS of the equation
3 + 4*x + 5*x^2
and then enter a value of x into the another textbox and click on the calculate button.I tried this:
I want to disable the webbrowser for the user, so the user wont be able to click anything (links on site and stuff) but I can still navigate the webbrowser through code.
Im trying to check and see if the right clicks on a link in a webbrowser, if so enable a button on the contextmenustrip that allows him to open it in a different tab.
Dim Oelement as HTMLelement Private Sub ContextMenuStrip1_Opening(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles ContextMenuStrip1.Opening If oElement.TagName = "A" Then
I am currently building a webbrowser that only loads one page, but I don't want the user to be able to navigate away by clicking advertisement links, as I don't want them to be able to surf the net, clicking links could eventually lead them back to Google to search for what they like if they are clever enough!
