Jun 21, 2010I know this is probably a stupid question. I am converting a huge string to a integer, it is not working.....saying the number is too large to handle. It is only a 10k character string.I figured this would be fine because 2^16 power is 18446744073709551616.

Jun 27, 2009I haven't programmed for some time, so I'm a little rusty Basically I'm storing HTML within a variable, and I need to count the amount of times a specific element appears e.g. <h3 class=r> for now.
I thought of using a for each loop, and passing the string above into the parentheses of the loop (using a variable ofc) however for many reason's, I don't think this has a chance of working (won't bother explaining why, as I assume you can guess). Then thought of using the .Contains method of the string class, but I simply can't think of how to use it with what I'm trying to do.
Compress Large Integers Into Smallest Possible String?
May 5, 2011I have a bunch of 10 digit integers that I'm passing in a URL. Something like: "4294965286", "2292964213". They will always be positive and always be 10 digits. I'd like to compress those integers into the smallest possible form that can still be used in in a URL (aka letters and numbers are perfectly fine) and then uncompress them later. I've looked at using gzipstream but it creates larger strings, not shorter.

but I am still stuck with empty strings such as :

these string have lengths ranging between 3 and 8, so I have tried to adapt the replace function with something like this:

Jul 6, 2010I am using Virtual Basic with ASP.NET in Visual Studio 2008. I am using Webmethod to communicate from/to the server with the client. Data can be queried and returned in small amount, but when I try get a relatively large amount of data, it's returning me a Server 500 error. My data is 226561 character long, so it's not that large, but it's relatively larger than my other working testing set, which are about 10k character long.

Extracting String Or Set Of Emails From Large Group Of Text
Jun 6, 2012Basically this is my problem, showing the results of a string. I am making a program for a customer and he wants to be able to extract a string or set of emails from a large group of text. In this case he wants to be able to copy a webpage and extract all the emails out of the webpage. The problem i am having is showing the results of the List(of string) Function. So far, I can copy the page, paste the content to a textbox and then i have a function that is supposed to filter out the emails and paste or Show them in a list box.
I dont know why but no matter what I do I always get this error:
Error1Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of String)' cannot be converted to 'String'.
This happens when I try to output the return results to a textbox or list box.

On my Developement server when I am running my application, then there is one function where I am trying to put whole stringbuilder contents in a string object. This Function is used for paging the reports.For that I am using a method of Stringbuilder.tostring() and when I chek the value of this statement (stringbuilder.tostring()) it shows no such interface is supported, which later on throws exception of system is out of memory. Large String Concatination Error "system.memoryoverflowException"
Feb 2, 2012I have developed software which can upload and download a large amount of data.
I am using language = .net 2005 ,OS = XP (32bit) , processor = duo core (3.00 GHz), RAM = 2GB. I have read a file up to 50 mb and then split it 2mb each. So no of pieces of the total 50 mb file will be 25. This split 2mb file will upload 25 times. But in this case I always get the exception "The operation has timed out" . I don't know why this is happened. Is it the fault of Internet connection speed or else ? Except this upload when I download the 2mb each, up to 50mb then I got 'System.OutOfMemoryException' .
Actually I have download 2mb file at a time and concat it in a stringbuilder object. This will do up to 25 times. But suddenly when it concat the string it get the exception 'System.OutOfMemoryException'.
I don't know why this happened. If I used up to 14mb file. It properly uploads and downloads but if I used the large file like 50mb then it get error. I have given you a sample code, so that you can understand the problem.

Convert 1-Dim String Array To String?
Jun 21, 2010I'm working on a mass text replacer program because I'm sick of all the 10-day trial ones out there that aren't very good.The entire program is basically finished (All easy stuff), but now I need to code the actual replace/delete stuff, which I'm stuck on because apparently the way I originally intended to do it is not possible.
The way it works is you load a text file (.txt, .cfg, .ini, .doc, etc.) which opens a StreamReader which writes all the data into a listbox. Then you pick whether you want to replace or delete a string. If you select replace, then you enter the string to search for and in another textbox you enter the string to replace it with.
The way I originally intended to do this was like this:

Replace(txtfile, str1, a1) 'txtfile is the data, str1 is the string to find and a1 is the replacement

The problem is, I believe this method requires txtfile, str1 and a1 to be strings, but they're all 1-dimensional string arrays, which cannot be converted to strings, or at least I don't know how to convert them.
A friend told me one way I could do this is to open both a StreamReader and StreamWriter and do the replace/delete line by line as they are entered into the memory and write them to a temporary file which is then copied over the original. I can do this kind of, but I still don't know the proper way of doing the actual replace code because the string to find and the string to replace with are still 1-dimensional string arrays rather than strings.

Apr 28, 2011I have 1 string of 12 numbers separated by a ',' "11.11,22.22,33.33" etc coming in my serial port. One number has so far been 5339, but now its changed to 533d, which causes problems, for reasons I am still trying to work out.
The top numbers are all real numbers ie 0.000 or 00.00 or 000.0, whereas the bottom 3 numbers are Hex FFFFF but just happen to show decimal numbers by 'good luck'.[code]....
