Converting Excel To CSV - Semicolon Separation

I have written a VBA (Excel macro) to open a workbook, and save it as a semicolon .CSV file, and then close it self. Excel on the server at work has a nasty tendency to start in safe mode (or at least ask if it should start in safe mode), making my Open-And-Shut macro fail. Now I've rewritten the program into VB.NET code (vs2008), but it creates a true .CSV (comma separated value), and I need semicolon. The excel file contains "last name, first name" making comma separation useless. Also making it impossible to substitute "," with ";" [Code]

I have ran into an issue where I need to save some Excel data to a semicolon delimited file. (Why is an issue unto itself) And I can not find a way to do this using VB. In excel I can use Import Semicolon delimited files but I can not find a way to save them. Is there a VB constant or method I can use to save semicolon delimited files without having to write my own save procedure to format the data? such as the xlCSV, xlDIF, xlTextMSDos formats. I would think that since it can import this format that it should be able to save it.

We are using VB.NET and ASPx for our project. we would like to separate the aspx pages and put them on the IIS server (web server) on one m/c and the business logic and DAL layer on another IIS server (application server) on a different m/c .The database is on another m/c. Is such a configuration possible ? If so how can it be implemented?

I have a question about static strings and so forth, in an ASP.NET MVC.I need to hold a string(a value), when the user goes through the application.Problem is, I feel like that would be a violation to the MVC. I am loading data into excel from datatable using LoadFromDataTable method then changed cell format to integer still it is showing error "The number in this cell is formatted as text or preceded by apostrophe". cell was showing to right side only and number format only on cell property.still I am not understanding why I am getting this error??.

I am pulling two fields and putting them together with a "-". When I export to excel it seems to think that the string is a date and converts it from 11-11 to 11-Nov. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this.I am exporting a gridview into excel. This asp.net using .net 3.5 and vb.net within VS 2008.

I have a csv file from which i am getting the data into a table. Example: "ABC",1,"Apple" The requirement is that the strings will be inside the quotas " " and integer will be without quotes. The above line will split into three columns. i am using stream reader class to split the line into columns using line.split(','). It was working fine unfortunately i got a record in a file where there is a comma in between the string quotes like these "ABC,DEF,ghi",2,"Orange". So instead of 3 columns now they are acting as five columns and all the conversion are failing. writing the script in C# which will replace the comma between the quotas into semicolon and don't touch the comma in between the columns.

In VB6 I could assign an Excel range directly to a variant array dim vArr as variant vArr = xlSheet.range("A2:A10").value and then work with vArr to pull out the values I needed. This doesn't work in VB 2010. Is there a replacement procedure to allow me to read in a range (perhaps large) all at once and then process the data without needing Excel?

What I am trying to do is allow the user to enter a list of authors in a textbox separated by semi colons. After each author is entered, followed by a semicolon, I would like the autocomplete to work on the next name and so on (e.g., Smith, John; Eastwood, Clint...). I can get the autocomplete to work in a textbox with one name, but cannot seem to figure out how to get it to work on a list of names in a text box.

I need to access the current instance of MS Excel. To do that, I wrote the following code:

The code runs nice, but it has a problem: After the user close the Excel application (click button X - note: no other instance of Excel exists), if you open the Windows's task manager, its possible to see the process Excel.exe.
If I open and close the Excel application, there is no process Excel.exe, but if I run my code with the Excel application openned, after the user close the Excel application, the process Excel.exe isn't finished.

I want to encapsulate the use of Excel Interop to make it easier to use somehow in a reuseable library.So far, I have written some tests that work good altogether, except that between each test, I force Excel to quite so that it does have handle on the test file no more in order to be able to delete.Once I quit the application instance between after each of my tests, Excel seems to be no longer responding, causing Windows to display "Excel has stopped working and is looking for a solution"
message. This message lasts a few seconds, meanwhile Excel is closing, causing the hang on the file to occur and my tests to throw an exception like "Cannot access file because it is being used by another process..."

I'm trying to upgrade a VB6 app to VB 2008. I have read the article in the tutors corner about automating Excel from VB but I cannot get it to work. Heres what I have done:
1) set a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
2) Added "Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" to the top of the module
3) in a routine I have added: Dim X As New Excel.Application Here's where I get an error: Error 75 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.
