Jun 12, 2012copying a form design (and possibly the code) from vb6 to .NET? I think I understand how to do the code with copy and paste but how about the form design itself?

Oct 22, 2009So my final goal is to take some columns from one form's datagridview (in form3) and place them into a seperate form's datagridview (form4). I started off by just trying to put all of the rows in there one-by-one. Later I will be moe picky about which rows I want. Below is the code I am using. Copying A Treeview From One Form To Another?
Apr 2, 2010I am trying to copy a treeview control from one form to another. To do this I wrote the following

However this code moves the treeview from one form to another, it does not copy (or clone) the control.
Copying And Pasting In Sections Of A Form?
Oct 26, 2010I have a form that I am creating to document information about computers that I build. I have created the basic layout, what I have is a group box that has many different controls in it (text boxes, combo boxes, additional group boxes etc) What I want to be able to do is have a button that will copy the group box (computer information) and all of its contents and then paste it below the first group box with all of the fields blank or in their default setting; and keep doing this for as many computers as I want to add. Each project I do has a different amount of computers on it so I want this form to be able to handle any amount of computers.
I can't seem to find much on what I want to do, any pointers, direction or idea's
I was able to do this with an excel spreadsheet but all I had to do was reference and select a cell range, scroll down and paste the new section in. This is my code from excell, just as an example of what I did then. But with VB I'm stumped on how to approach this.

May 4, 2010I am looking for an advice how to do a drag and drop copying an object anywhere on the form and also move an object around and place it where the user wants. Is that possible? Kind of something what we have in the designer of Visual Studio, we can drag and drop a label or a textbox down on the form.

I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel �workbook.data�, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells �workbook.results� and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

May 17, 2012I am busy writing a application that i can set up a list of files to copy from one location to a remote network drive.
THe program has a list of "jobs" in a datagrid that it loops through and executes in sequence. What i have now is a background worker that reports the status of which job it is on (File 1 of 5) but i would like something that shows the status of the current copying file as sometimes large files can look like it's stopped on the network
I am using the System.io.file.copy structure, but have also tried the my.computer.filesystem.copyfile (which shows the status in a "windows" copy box)
So, what i would like is some guidance on how to create a function that will copy the file but also report back progress periodicly. I don't want to read and write byte for byte as im worried this will be too slow.
Also, is there a better way/function to use to copy files? Looking for best speed

Feb 11, 2012I have a DataGridView which lists the paths of a group of files, pptx, xlxs, etc. From a context menu they can copy the name of the file onto the clipboard, or delete the file or rename the file, but I would like to be able to actually attach the file itself to the clipboard so it could be pasted as an attachment to an email or something like that. How do I get the file itself onto the clipboard when I only have the path to it?

Sep 13, 2010I have added two images as a resource in my project. I'd need to copy these images to a certain folder when the program is started. I'm not familiar about using resources, so far I have managed to set a picturebox to show one of these images like this:

Nov 30, 2010I am using Visual studio 2008.I have an application that reformats an excel spreadsheet. One of the operations is to copy the contents of the cells from the source to the target sheet. One of the columns has numbers. In excel, if the column is not wide enough, it will display the numbers as "###". For instance, if i have a number 99 and the column is not wide enough, it displays "#" in that cell. The problem is that when I copy this cell to my target sheet, I get "#" and not 99.

My problem is, when I am copying or moving a large file, It's taking so much time and my program is hanging until all the files are completely moved or copied. How about, using a progressbar instead, so that the user will be able to see the progress of copying and moving instead of the program freezing?

Nov 8, 2010I have some textboxes that I need to get data to on another tab, everything works beautifully until I get to one and that is where the client ID has to be filled oin to that textbox. I have a chkBox that will verify the data that is suppose to be put over intothe tabbed page and if I check it, it will put the data into the textbox. Yet if I leave it unchecked the data does not get copied.

Mar 19, 2012i have been searching Google for weeks now looking for help on a project, i'm not in school college etc, i am a network admin in a secondary school. Basically i was sick of teachers/pupils losing their pen drives and complaining to us that their work is missing, i set out to create a program to ease the backing up process to ensure this happened less often. i did manage to create a program using 'Get current directory' & 'Copy directory' and it works fine but not to the standard i want. Here is a clip of my current program, pretty neat for a beginner i think.I want the .EXE to sit on the pendrive and extract everything to a backup folder when it's run.Because (h:/) or whatever the letter, is a DRIVE, copy directory method wont work.

The only problem is once in a while it fails. If it fails, we'll wait 5 seconds and try again. Well, it doesn't help. Once it fails it keep failing.
