Nov 25, 2011I am new to vb and I am having so much trouble with this. What I need to do is this: I have a form application for winter sports equipment rental.I have a listbox filled with the equipment for the user to choose from then I have a combobox for the user to select the duration they would like to rent it. The book that I am using has no examples I can refrence and i have had no luck online either. I am posting what I have so far. However, i think I am going in the wrong direction. I have been working on this for so long that I think I have over thought it and made a mess of it. I am thinking that I need to add a new class for rentalRates then use enum of durationType and equipmentType but I am unsure how to move that way. That is using a enum, a 2d array and a parallel array? [code]

But i need to display a error message when the user enters text instead of numbers for prices. I tried try parse method but it displayed the error message but did not transfer the entered price to the array.

I enter the price in a text box and click the enter button to send the price to a list box immediatley and use an array. I have the following code but I don't think it's working with the array correctly as it will let me enter the information but doesn't stop letting me enter after the 12 prices. I am really having a hard time trying to figure out how to set up this input for an array and make it all work.

Jan 29, 2011I am trying to create a "stock Price Program" for an assignment that will allow you to type in a stock symbol such as "goog" in the client side and the server side will respond with a price for that stock symbol, this price can either be hard coded in or read from a text file. I have done a lot of research and have a good understanding of how sockets work.
My issue is that I do not understand how to get the server to reply based on what the client sends it. I have a working program that allows you to send text to the server and it should reply with the same text and date but i think the client is just re-typing the text instead of receiving it from the server and I can't figure out how to get the client to receive back from the server

Jan 7, 2009I wanted to create a login system that would have 3 tabs 1 for regular login, 1 for admin login and 1 for account creation. So far so good. It saves the accounts by saving them in a .urs file in the map called /Users/. However when this map does not exist it will show a error. I would want to know what code or so to put into the form_load which will make my program create the map /Users/ if it does not exist. As im not familiar with all the codes and stuff. The only thing i can come up with is

but then ofcourse it would create the folder users everytime i start the program. not i was still "Hello Worlding" a few days ago, so i really am unfamiliar with any sort of high-skilled programming which i probably dont understand.

Apr 6, 2010In my first application I need to create a multi-level "IF" statement and I am a little lost on how to proceed. The idea is to do figure out an estimate on costs based on the quantity of products being sold. I can do this in Excel, but the VB code escapes me.
So I'll show you in psuedo code what I want to do.
IF comboBoxA = 1 and comboBoxB = 1 then
value X
IF comboBoxA = 2 and comboBoxB = 1 then
value X
If comboBoxA > 3 and comboBoxB > 1 then
(comboxBoxA * costA) + (comboBoxB * costB) = Value X
I have another IF statement that will work off the calculations here. Haven't figured this one out yet, but I haven't gotten there yet in my form.

Notice the fields prodno1 and prodno2 in the table structure.. this is part of a number of sql statements i need to run and put inside a loop. my problem is i want to automatically use this same code such that on the next loop, this sql statement is going to be:

Note that in this "2nd loop"
- the table name is now r3 from r2 in the first SQL statement
- there are now prodno1, prodno2 and prodno3 instead of just prodno1 and prodno2
- in the WHERE clause, the p.prodNo becomes p.prodNo2
And so on and so forth.. so for the 3rd loop
- there's going to be r4
- there's going to be prodno4
- in the WHERE clause i will use p.prodNo3
Calculations Using Quantity And Price - Not Getting Right Value

Ok, everything has worked when I display the information.... up until the accumprofitdecimal variable. When i display that value its NOT what it should be. For instance i'm putting in a quanity of 1 and an hour of 1 for an adult then for a child, the extended price comes out properly as $2.15 now the code accumprofitdecimal += extendedpricedecimal SHOULD add the extended price (2.15) to the accumulative total. but when i display the accum profit total it shows a number that makes zero sense... is accumprofitdecimal += extendedpricedecimal not correct code?
