View 6 RepliesHi, I'm just beginning to teach myself how to do OOP in VB 2008 Express. I have a quick question after seeing a video online.Is a VB variable the equivalent of an 'instance' in Flash and a VB object like a 'symbol' in Flash? Is this what it means by a variable being a reference or pointer to an object and not the object itself?

I am working on a Flash training video. I would like at the end of the video for a message to pop up with a dynamic confirmation code. I have the code for the confirmation code, but am having trouble creating something either at the end of the flash video or within the aspx page to trigger this message.
View 1 RepliesI want to send data from vb.net to the flash.(ex. i have variable x in .net which has a value of 5, now every time i load the flash in vb.net the value of x will reflect in the text i put in the flash.). I was able to made this but through loadVariables() in the flash but I should save the data in txt files so that the flash will load it.., I want to make it simply because I need to fetch data from the database and then i need to save it to txt file in order to load the data.
View 7 RepliesI have read previous posts and used suggestions about firebug and selenium etc. I am still a newbie and am still pretty confused as how to implement this. I am trying to access URLs that appear when I click on a link. I have accessed the JavaScript code and the function just has a couple of parameters which I have no idea how to intercept using vb.net or C# etc.
View 2 RepliesI'm making a new design for my website, but I want to keep the old one and possibly switch between the two.
Unfortunately, I've changed the content on the Master Page (luckily I have a backup).What I was thinking was to keep separate master files for each theme, and then just determine which one to server based on which stylesheet is loaded.
The only way I can think to do this is to keep a "settings" file on the website that has a "stylesheet=1/2/3/4/etc" line. Depending on the number there, the server will serve the correct master page.
Alternatively it might be easier to do something similar, but instead of serving a whole different master page, set a specific stylesheet to use.In both cases, I need a little help with actually doing the work on the server. I can read a text file (even encrypt/decrypt a file before and after it gets read for security), but actually giving the server the instructions based on what is read is where I'm lost.
I want to build a MVC helper function for which I pass a Entity Framework object and have it build a select. Generally speaking I tried something like this:
Public Function RenderSelect(ByVal helper As HtmlHelper, ByVal sSelectName As String, ByVal aItmes As Array, Optional ByVal sTitleKeyName As String = "name", Optional ByVal sValueKeyName As String = "id") As String
' open select
[Code].....
However, it isn't working. It would be great to have a way to do this and pass the current entity object.

View 4 RepliesI am currently trying to get a WebBrowser object not to download flash and images. This is just to make a lightweight browser. I know this can be done within the IE settings, but i would prefer it on an application level.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
WebBrowser1.Navigate(New Uri("http:google.co.uk"))
End Sub
End Class
I have found some C# code, but i dont know how to change it to VB.Net and the convertors make some bugs, which i do not know how to fix
Software i am using:
Windows XP SP3
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
getting the webbrowser to stop downloading them?
i have added the shockwave flash object into my tool box from COM COMPONENTS, but when i add the shockwave flash object to my form so it gives and error. the error is "Failed to import the Activex Control. ensure that it is properly registered"
View 1 RepliesI have used VB6 to create controls for robotic devices via serial/usb ports... and I already figured out the serial port.I create a graphic gauge for showing data by making a shockwave flash file for example: analog1.swf I then load and use the movie by setting the frame number. In short, 100 frames, 60% would be frame 60, etc. It looks like an analog gauge, makes the program look great.In VB6 I had the file specified as app.path & "/analog1.swf" then when I built the file I would click on the swf file when asked if there was anything else I needed to include... and it would be included in the build. I figured out most of the issues; how to include a shockwave flash object and I found a replacement for app.path... after experimenting. I found that Application.StartupPath() pointed to the DEBUG folder.so if I place the analog1. swf file in the DEBUG folder, I could do something like...[code[ when I tried to build the file in VB.NET, the SWF file wasn't in the publish/SWF1 folder I made. (I selected install from CD so everything should go into one folder as I understand it.) This means that if I distributed the install files... the person would not see the graphic, just a white box where it should be.
I read some more here on the forum... and I found out that I could do the following to add a resource...Click - Project on the toolbar.Click - Add Existing File from the drop down menu.Pick (analog1.swf) from someplace on my hard drive.Okay that got it into the program resources and I presume VB.NET will make a copy in some folder someplace... but I'm not seeing it right now. (Possibly because of the next issue...)How do I specify it in the code? if I create a shockwave object and call it "flash" what goes here.And is there anything special I need to do so that when I click BUILD and/or PUBLISH so it actually includes the SWF file in the finished product so the person installing it sees a gauge instead of a white box?
I've added reference to Flash object. Then dragged AxMacromediaFlash to form. [renamed Flash1]. Even after setting Flash1.Movie="file.swf".
it doesn't start playing ! I tried, loadMovie,Play,MovieData etc etc.. nothing works. There's no error, no warning, nothing. That Flash object remains plain white. am not using try catch too. I'm on Vista Home Premium 32bit, Flash player 10, Flash ActiveX version 10. Tried re-installing player, activeX. its just not working! : any known issues am ignoring here? and same file works fine if I drag it in IE. and if I check Flash1's state, it shows playing.
I am trying to import a flush component in a Form but in Choose Items... in the list of Com Component, Shockwave Flash Object deos not exist.

View 2 RepliesWell I am trying to make a exe that shows a swf game(Club Penguin). When ever I run the exe and login to the swf game, A Internet Explorer Window pops up and its title has some javascript. After a few minutes the window closes and I get an error:Internet Explorer cannot download.Unspecified error.After this the game runs fine, But if I go to a room or something in the game, It does the same as above. (You might need to play Club Penguin in a Visual Basic Program to see what I mean.)
View 2 RepliesGuys,this is my first day at the forum,and my second thread. Can someone explain me how can i make an axshockwaveflashobject2 to copy what happens at axshockwaveflashobject1 like a picture or video. I have a tabed trainer and i want to see my stats in game at the second tab. i have the hack menu on a toolstrip,but i have at the tab 2 flash1.get variables to textboxes,but i can't see what's happening at the flash1,and i may lose the level by falling in the sea. The code should make something like a mirror from flash1 to flash2 at the other tab.

View 1 RepliesI would like to create a .exe wrapper for a Flash Player using VB.NET. I am having a few problems.1.I seem to remember being able to import Flash Player as a control into Visual Studio (2008 Pro). For some reason, I can't seem to VS to import it anymore. (I tried using the OCX from Visual Studio) Perhaps I'm looking for the wrong file. What file am I looking for?
2.Is including Flash inside of a VB program legal?
3.When a control is included in a VB.NET program (such as Flash) does the control need to be distributed in a separate file, or will the compiled application contain it in the ".exe"?
I was able to import the control as the Flash10b.ocx from c:WindowsSystem32Macromed directory as a COM component. Question 2 and 3 still remain.Is there documentation on the ActiveX control? I am trying top figure out the API for ExternalInterface.
is it possible to create an application with flash interface in Vb?I'm using visual basic 2008.

View 7 RepliesWe are migrating an application from C# to VB to meet our project's needs but stumbled upon a problem with event handling in VB.
The application uses a COM Wrapper access a scanner in Silverlight. The object is created dynamically in the code, and an event is added to "AcquirePage". This requires elevated trust of course.
Code in C#:
dynamic TwainSession;
(...)
TwainSession.AcquirePage += new AcquirePageDelegate(AcquirePageEventHandler);
As the only real "equivalent" of dynamic in VB is Object, we use:
Private TwainSession As Object
Everything is fine up to the point we want to handle an event of this Object. Because we are in Silverlight, we cannot have knowledge of the Object's structure or events, hence the need to create it dynamically. In C# we simply use "+=" to add a handler to an event but:
AddHandler TwainSession.AcquirePage, AddressOf AcquirePageEventHandler
In VB gives: 'AcquirePage' is not an event of 'Object'
I am trying to get the hang of Dynamic loading of objects from assemblies on the same machine (But NOT part of the same project).In the sample below, Form1 implements an interface built as part of the .dll I placed in C:Release. I am trying to create a local instance of Form1, and Cast it as Iform, so that the local code can access the properties and methods exposed by the interface.The assumption here is that at runtime, local code will have access to the String name of a form, and an interface which is implemented by the form (and is compiled into the .dll as well as the client application), and that is it.
When I run this code, I get a exception: "Unable to cast object of type 'WindowsApplication1.Form1' to type 'WindowsApplication1.Iform'.
Public Function fApplicationObject() As Iform
Dim sLocation As String = "C:ReleaseWindowsApplication1.dll"
Dim sType As String = "WindowsApplication1.Form1"
[code]....
I seem unable to dynamically load an object from a dll and then utilize an interface to access it's properties and such.
