I'm having a hard time creating datapoints for a spline line chart. The information for the point comes from a label's text, so I try doing something like this:

psjChart.Series(1).Points.AddXY(psj0)
I have a single series bar chart created programmatically in codebehind which I would like to display the Y point value (somewhere above the bar, or maybe as a tooltip) when the user hovers their mouse over a bar.
Is there a native onmouseover event for the bars of the chart, or is it something that should be added through series.MapAreaAttributes?
I've found the points.tooltip attribute which I can add at the same time I add the point which will do what I want it to do, but it would still be nice to know if you can capture events for the bars, just for future reference.
I have a chart in Excel that I'd like to use a subtitle on. There is no SubTitle Property on the chart object, so I looked in the Excel User interface and found that you can only create a sub-title by using a text box. The text box looks like its associated with the chart, not the worksheet, so how would I access that text box from code?

Each row has a header, so far so good. The first row exixt of calender data and I planned it to use them as my x-axis labeling. Recently I have learned visual basic 2008 express edition and developed programs for data crunching and analysis. The VB 2008 express edition has microsoft visual studio 2008 v. 9.0.30729.1 SP and .NET Framework version 3.5 SP1. Now I want to create x-Y (date-Y value) graphs using the crunched data stored in an array list simulating a data base access. I download and installed the "Microsoft Chart Control for .NET Framework " and try to learn to use it within the VB 2008 express edition using the tutorial. It seems that the chart control did not get installed?
1. Do I need at VB 2008 professional to allow using the chart control?
2. Why after installing chart control, there is no change on the items under the NET components within the Toolbox>ChooseItem>.
3. How do I get to use the chart control under VB 2008 express edition.
4. Any code available to generate versatile graphics without using the chart control? Because the chart control has tons of classes already it seems the best is to just use the existing and downloadable chart control?

How do I dynamically add or remove a chart series on a WinForm. To date all my MS Charting experience has been dealing with ASP.Net charts with static sql select statment to a SQL Database. In the new project that I have been assigned I have different cities with different amounts of points that they want monitored. One city might have 3 an another might have 5 or 7 so I can't hard code the amount of series that I need. It needs to be set up so the amount of series can be flexible depending on the city selected and then display those points on the chart.

I am using microsoft chart controls in VB.net. The graph data currently comes from my database, but all the series and chart formats were made before runtime. I want to know how to make charts on runtime, being able to select the x axis from my dataset and multiple y columns from my dataset.

Also, if I try and do multiple lines it does not always work out very well. I tried different ColumnLabels and they behave very strange as well. What I want is to be able to have several lines. I'm having problem with MS Chart chart type column. If there are only 9 bar in the chart like the following picture, then the axis-x label show up properly.
However, there are more than 9 bars bar the chart, the axis-x label wont show up properly, some of them just dissappear.

I have the smallest dataset in the world that simply consists of a month (text) and and amount. I want to produce a chart showing the month along the y-axis and the value up the x-axis. How do I do it? I have dragged the chart control onto the report page and populated the dataset. The chart shows but nothing like what I would expect. Just to make it simple I populated the dataset with an amount equivalent to the month number so it should show as 1 in January, 2 in Feb etc...However no matter where I drag the dataset's column names I don't get what I want. Where am I going wrong?
I use this simple loop to populate the dataset:

I can't figure out how to plot anything on this chart...finally got it to actually display a pie chart, now I'm trying to somehow bind a data source to it and from there, select the series data..I have added the database to the project as a data source but I don't know how to bind it to the pie chart. some other info: this db has 100's of tables and the program I'm working on is going to be a "status monitor" of sorts that will contain about 6-8 different types of charts all plotting different info for me in chart form.I want to bind this one data source to all the charts and just have them display different information (based on the sql query perhaps)

View 2 RepliesI am creating a List(Of String), always of size 9.This list contains True/False values. I need to go through this list and find the 3 values that are True (will never be more than 3, but could be less) and then set 3 string values in my code to the 3 index's of those values + 1.

I had 3 True's next to each other in the array and the code failed with an exception saying count must be positive or something.Now if there are less than 3 True's, it should set the remaining DenialReason's that haven't been set yet as blank (however they are set as blank in the constructor already to account for this).
i'm having problems creating a public string varialble in a class or module. i am going to be refering to it in many forms so this way i only will have to change the text of the string once and not on each form.Currently when i try to use the new string variable as an object variable from another form, it isnt showing up as an object i can reference.
