In my project i added a User Control so that i can reuse in different Windows forms.I designed and coded the UserControl1 according to my need and now i want to use it in Form2 but i cant understand how to do it?

The thing that I can't figure out is that it looks OK in design mode, but at run time, the custom binding navigator shows 2 "Close" buttons. Only one of them will close the form when clicked, the other one doesn't function. See the attached image.
I can't get this to work get a funny icon in the top left corner of the are where the user control is suppose to appear, here is my html markup.[code]
View 4 RepliesI have a program that I am creating in a windows form to track information about computers that I build for each project I do. The way I have my form layout is two buttons on the top of the form(1 for adding a computer and the 2nd to remove a computer) I then have a Tab window where when I want to add a computer I use the "Add button" click event to create a new tab and add a user control "Computer" that I created that contains all of the default fields that I desire (i.e. serial numbers os type, product key etc.) The "Computer" user control also contains two buttons (1 for adding a PC Card and the 2nd to remove a PC Card) The PC Card is another user control that I have created that has all of the desired fields I require for PC Cards. I am able to add new computers with no problem and name the tab

Just looking for a bit of advice really on the best way to go about something.I am creating a new freeware game in which I am creating like OS for the game. So far I have the OS Home screen (Desktop) with a menu a bit / time / date etc.hat I am trying to do (and not sure the best way to do it) Is I want to be able to create windows within my virtual desktop 'form' as Windows does essentially for instance clicking on 'start' and going to 'Internet Explorer'I have turned the boreder style to no the desktop form and any other thing I do so its my look and feel but I am not sure the best way to go about this. I possibly thought creating my 'windows' as panels and just showing and hiding them but that doesn't appear to work when I overlay them.

I am creating a form for work where managers can report when they find a customer's personal information laying around on a desk (we work at a call center where agents answer calls for a wireless cell phone provider, so we take personal information security very seriously). Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to have a text box autofill with that manager's windows username (since they will need to be logged into their own profile to use the form).
View 2 RepliesI'm coding an application that will work with many arrays of data. To make the code easier I want to make a user control (called Multiselect) that will include a textbox and a treeview. The textbox will be alway visible and treeview will appear when needed.The user will put a string in the textbox and the MultiSelect will search all of the stored data in a array that match the searched string. When done, the TreeView will appear and show the found items. User will have an opportunity to choose the right items through checkboxes.
What I can't do is the TreeView. I want it to act like the autocomplete in Visual Studio editor - for example you are in a class and type "me." and Visual Studio offers you all methods possible in a window. This windows doesnt get focus, but if on the top of the main form so the found items are visible over the text.
Creating a pdf document using Itext is quite simple if your application is a web application because you can find samples to help you out all over the web. Creating a pdf document for a windows application on the other hand is not so easy. I cannot find a single sample online anywhere.so far this is what I have:

m planning to make it as such:1. BLL and DAL are on the same box.2. Only PL is installed on client machines.Simple enough. Right now am planning to go web service as I have no idea how to do this with windows forms. So in a nutshell, my question would be how to connect the PL to the BL and how to do this during the development stage. I was planning on deploying the BL as a webservice then during development, the PL sets a reference to it to get the data.Data will basically be datasets, datatables etc. Might also have a need to do some file transfer.

I have figured out how I would be able to dynamically create the bottom part where you select the menu option, but I'm struggling to figure out how I would be able to create the top part, which can contain any user control that the developer would want.So basically what I'm trying to figure out is, is there a way to allow for a developer to add controls to a specific area of your user control?
If there is a way of achieving that then if anyone knows how to do this;In ASP.Net you have the login controls and with one of them, you are able to have different views depending on whether the user who is viewing the web page is logged in or not. Is there a way of achieving this in VB.Net for a user control that could be set up so that I could have the developer able to switch the view in the designer to show them the view for when a specific navigation option has been selected.

I'm trying to create a windows user control project that has a textbox placed on it.I want the textbox to fill the user control window.I've built the control and added it to another project, but it isn't behaving the way I want it too.When I drag and drop the control from the toolbox onto a windows form and try to resize it, because the textbox.multiline property has been set to True, the Textbox resizes horizontaly and not vertically (just like normal textboxes do) however the underlying user control window resizes which is undisireable. How can I get the user control window to stop doing this.

Then I built the test control and tried to added it to the Toolbox. When I did this--i.e., browsed to the dll and double-clicked it, I got the errror message:
"There are no components in ... that can be placed in the toolbox."

The one thing that I have thought of that could possibly cause a problem is having the capability of knowing when one of the user controls has been clicked, while I haven't figured this out exactly, I believe I should be able to achieve this by having an event for the navigation user control that provides the developer a reference to the control.

How do you cache user session in a windows forms application? So that the user session expires when inactive for a certain period of time. I wish to include that functionality using an integrated security and caching application block from microsoft's patterns and practices.

For example : Some messagebox won't let users access the other application until the users hit the OK button.
I'm developing a windows forms application using VB.NET. I'm currently working on DataReport (by Microsoft, not Crystal). Everything works fine when using DataSet as DataSource. But I have a question on how am I going to put data to my DataReport from a user input? Preferably when the user is on the act of printing(clicking the print button in the ReportViewer), a Form will pop-up and ask him for input. That input I'm talking about is random names of people, and we don't have to track their names so there's no reason to put it on the database.
Here's my simple setup:
